I just geeked out a little when i realized you are in Rock Island!! I'm closer to Chicago but I might have to Road Trip this summer!! These hacks are very helpful. Thank you for that.
You are by far one of the most creative, detailed, original pattern designers that are suitable for almost everybody. I am always impressed with your quilts. I love every one of them. However, I think it is your approach to color that sets you apart and above many others. You're gifted. Thank you for sharing so much!
Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment. I really love that you appreciate all the details, designs and color choices! We do this for you all and love hearing from quilters who appreciate what we do!
Thank you, Stephanie, for these 5 hacks: 1) Read all instructions from cover to cover to avoid time-costly mistakes. 2) Use the mat to measure when cutting pieces in bulk. 3) Chain piece stacks of blocks to save time. 4) Wait until rows are completed to press seams open. 5) Pin all your rows together at the same time to ensure points meet properly.
Love the tips! I am already doing some of them. I always have my ironing board set up and I like to get up and move as I can’t sit for to long. Thanks 😊
Nice hacks... I do quilting for pure pleasure no rush at all. I do have times that I need a quilt ect done fast this will come in handy.. Thanks for the video....
I've been meaning to write. I saw the vid when you advised pressing the seams open. That day I broke 2 needles due to pressing to one side. This is true liberation for me. Thank you.
Love your hacks. I do some of them already, but your big pile of partial blocks made my heart beat funny….I know I would mix things up..for sure. Still, I am going to try it. Thank you😊
Love your hacks. Have made my quilting so more efficient. Your teaching is the best: clear directions with rationale for what you are teaching. I've learned so much from you. I've made 2 of your quilts ( block of the month) and they look great. Thank you
Bless your heart girl…..wish I was there but just starting out…..and having a hard time because my sewing machine does not want to quilt, it is a brand new Baby Lock Presto 2, supposed to be a quilting machine…but it pushes the fabric and everything turns out lopsided…..or worse yet…with pinches.
@@asiasnyder6817 Or, just add a strategic pin somewhere special on a consistent way. Like when assembling rows of blocks, I always put a pin in the upper left corner of the left-most block. That way, I'm always clear on which way my blocks, then rows are oriented.
I think she's only doing it here 'cause she's using white, where pressing seams to the side would be more likely to show or cause visible shadows. Otherwise, I'd still say most folks still press their seams to the dark side.
Reading the pattern is challenging for me. I think there is assumptions in the pattern ( ie quilt language etc) If you have made a video on how to read a pattern please post link under my comment. If you have not made a how to read a pattern video this would be a helpful video. Thanks Stephanie. 💕
Check out Stephanie’s free beginning quilting video (link is in the description dropdown). I believe she includes a segment on how to read a pattern. Good luck on your quilting journey. 🤗
I struggle reading patterns too. Especially if they give measurements for one size throughout instructions & alternate size measurements (usually a size I am going to make) in parentheses. Makes my brain hurt lol.
@@bethcarter3737 I highlight the measurements/quantities for the size I’m making when I first read through the pattern. It’s a lot easier than trying to find the right bits while I’m sewing. When I make a different size, I use a different color highlighter. Hope this may help you. Good luck, Beth. You’ve got this! 👍🏻

Happy to hear you love the videos! You can do it!
I use the pins the have the numbers on them to keep everything in its place. Just a suggestion ☺️

So you press quilt seams open instead of pressing in one direction?

Yes! I almost always press open! :)

What iron are you using?
I notice you pressed your seams open. I was always told to press to the dark side. Which is correct?
Thank you for these great tips, very useful. Could you please a talk a little slower though? I was sort of out of breath when the tips were over.
Thank you
