Hey guys hope you enjoyed my FIRST LOOK / FIRST HIT video! I’m really excited now to test the Rogue drivers over a two week period, fully on GCQUAD Launch Monitor & out on the golf course in a real game situation. I’m then going to report back with my findings in the form of a in-depth review video. Also post your questions down below and I’ll answer the points in my full video. Thanks so much for your support as always and stay tuned to the channel as you won’t want to miss the new content. Rick
Rick, I'll say something as a huge fan. I've been watching your channel for the past 3 years every week religiously and I love your content, you're the best on youtube! But I'm finding a little difficult to stay focused during the new type of reviews this year. I find myself distracted and having to back the video a few times cause I wasn't paying attention anymore at some point. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it, but for now I feel the pace of the old reviews was generally a little better... Anyone else here feels the same way? Rick, keep up with the great work otherwise! Cheers from Brazil.
Hi Rick, I’ve got to agree with the rest of the gang. I don’t like these split reviews and I wish you would go back to the old format. Also, please do one BIG ONE which is a head to head with all the new kids on the block comparing distance, accuracy, price etc. Let’s see in one video if there really is any marked difference in these drivers. On the whole though, I love your stuff.
yeah, feels like a Callaway product presentation... boring I took a look at the design and then I've been skipping and fast forwarding to see the shots :-(
I like this form of video, it gets us the video quick, let’s us see the shots we want to see, and gives us our new product fix. This particular video did seem rushed though, you almost seemed out of breath from hurrying through it, I’d like a slower video, but love the format and the under 15 minute time frame. Thanks Rick!!! Love from America!!!
Agree with a lot of ppls comment here Rick. I'd rather see the old style review, and then maybe u can add on course after to add on it. Just my opinion
Rogue with hazard w/ Hazard X shaft carrying 275 to 280 yds & 150mph ball spd. My avg spin rate on 9 deg was 1960 to 2300 rpm. Hard for me to miss this one. Very happy.
My question is. What is the ball spin rate compared to the Epic. When I tested the Epic against my XR driver the spin rate was very high resulting in me losing distance. Interested to know as my XR is 4 years old and want to upgrade. Thanks Becki
Rick, You were the first golf RUclipsr I watched and you are still my #1 but I have to agree with many others that I prefer your old way of reviewing clubs. And PLEASE do the head to head videos again.
Exactly Aaron!!! Why should you pay for the advertising budget to Callaway Golf for the Rogue driver or any other new club to hit the market this season. These clubs will be someone's reject in the future as Callaway will keep bringing out new and improved versions for years to come.....sad, if you really think about the whole cycle.....
I just bought a Callaway XR driver in mint condition for $60....I'll get this in a few years for $60 as well. No need to spend $400 on a driver unless you got the cash to blow
Was fitted and preordered the regular Rogue in 9 degree with Project X 6.0 Evenflow. I currently own the Epic in 10.5 with Aldila Max Regular shaft but recent lessons and swing changes required a new fitting (also had plenty of store credit to burn) and was surprised to see my local store already had the Rogue in for fitting yesterday.
Since they sent you different shafts please hit some shots with the different shafts in the same driver. I am wondering if they have any difference in spin and launch. Cheers.
Would love to see a comparison of the weight settings during full review. Like weight forward spin and dispersion v. weight back spin and dispersion numbers. And which you’d use if you had to play it for money
I'm looking at a driver change this year (SLDR currently) and, after years of trying to get rid of my big fade (slice) I now found i can hit a draw but dont really want too as a fade seems more controlable. I'd like more distance as well but dont want to mess around too much so be interested to see the "standard" shape you get from the new batch (TM, Ping Callaway). Great content as ever Cheers
Hey Rick, can you explain the difference between the sub zero and standard aside from the physical shape aspects? Draw driver is self explanatory in terms of draw bias but I'm not sure what the sub zero offers? Cheers
Hey Rick, great vid as always. The biggest question I have is what are the most noticeable or biggest differences (if any) in the Rogue Sub Zero compared to the Epic Sub Zero, in regards to feel, sound, ball speed, spin rates & the fade bias (workability) the Epic seemed to have. Thanks Mate!
Micah Graves I'm not Rick but I will tell you there will be no differences between the rogue and the epic. The technology is the same just in a different color. Look at Rick's videos covering drivers from Callaway since 2012 and you will see that in the last 6 years not much if anything has changed. All drivers have pretty much reached the allowed limits and it doesn't look like the USGA or R&A will be making any changes to the allowed trampoline effect any time soon.
Hi Rick - My normal drive is a more of a fade but also very high and therefore I am losing lots of yardage off the tee. Would I be more suited to the Rogue Sub Zero to get that lower ball flight ?
I play the Epic Sub Zero, and would be interested to see a direct comparison to the Rogue Sub Zero to see if there really is an increase in ball speed... as long as the swing speed is comparable in the test. Thanks Jared
That Rogue Sub Zero looks the business - love the head shape. More traditional looking perhaps but all the better for it. Can't wait for your full review to come out. Cheers
Can you have your mid handicap or another that typically hits a slice hit the draw one vs their normal club to see the difference. Also can you hit them vs their epic counterparts and compare the 2 types from Calloway. Both standard and sub zero compare epic vs rogue?
For your full review, will you be publishing the numbers for Epic and Rogue as a side by side comparison? I apologize if you mentioned this in the video and I missed you saying.
Not sure how Callaway is going to really explain/market their way out of changing perceptions that Rogue > Epic. They’re claiming they’ve improved jailbreak so right there that should lead to an improvement over Epic. Not sure you can have it both ways. Personally, I just really want to see you test the fairway woods. If jailbreak in the woods works well, I’d definitely be rushing out to try them. And maybe old bluey will be replaced by new...teal-y 😖
I know that this comment is 2 years old now, but I just purchased the rogue 3 wood over the new Maverics due to me being a 20 handicap and not wanting to spend that much on clubs... if youre still in the market i highly recommend because I love that club
Hi rick... I am using callaway Xr driver which I hit 290 avg.. I am going change it but m confused between the rogue subzero and gbb subzero???? Or I haven’t tried TM yet ? Shall I go for it??
A few questions Rick firstly is the Subzero fade biased as Epic Subzero was. Does the normal Rogue`s size slow your swing speed slightly? And finally what are the difference`s in-flight height and spin. I wont be going for a fitting until I have seen your full on reviews.
I have the rogue regular 10.5 and a Taylor made m2 gotta decide between the two with covid there is very little simulation to test my swings on each the rogue is 50$ more any ideas for high handicap like myself
rick excuse me, is rogue the sobstitute of epic or the epic is available yet? Is a different version right? Another question: at the moment I have a 915d2 and I have around 98 mph club speed with Dr. I would change driver and I ask you for an opinion. Wich could be the right club? Epic, M3/M4?
My rogue came with a 2g weight in the rear. It looks like that club had a 5g weight in it. Should I swap it out for a 5g or keep the 2g that it came with?
I play an Epic Sub Zero but I love the look of this driver. I just don’t see a big enough difference to make the switch. I hope you can identify if there are any significant enhancements in performance.
This is an example of great integration of technology and style. Absolutely love the look of the driver with the successful technology of the epic. Just awesome cobra and callaway making massive waves this year!
What's important to me is the "free" shaft selection for both the standard and the Sub Zero, as well as the length of the shaft "stock" for both. I gravitate more towards the Titleist drivers because they come standard with 45" shafts regardless of D2 or D3. I have much better control with the shorter shafts and prefer not to adjust unless necessary.
Rick, I am really hoping you put up a Rogue vs M2 video soon. I have been saving up for the new M2 driver as I have the fairway wood and hybrid and love them; but this Rogue driver is having me look the other way. I have been leaning towards Callaway for my preferred ball choice and I have the Mack Daddy Forged Wedges and love both. So I am definitely mixed between the two and hoping the video could help answer questions
I thought it was only making the ball fast by slightly increasing swing speed? For the jailbreak didn't they shave the weight to try and catch ping on MOI?
might be smart to add the Epic and Epic SZ for data comps when reviewing ball/flight data testing with the Rogue and Rogue SZ in future testing, Rick. At least I hope you do that for the comprehensive Rogue driver reviews... likely won't have to do that for the full line of products, just the drivers... thanks and cheers, happy new year!
I really want to know if it's an improvement on the epic. Apparently it's got a better dispersion rate compared to the epic so that would be good to see if it actually does.
Hi Rick. I much prefer the blue over the green, but I know that's a personal thing and doesn't make the club do any better. As with the TM 3 & 4, could you show the Epic's number from last year against the Rogue. Also, being Rogue, do you think it could cause problems with my TM irons if I was to put it in the bag.
Hi Rick great review when you get around to testing the fairway woods could you do a review on the rouge heaven wood and 7 wood, as all new club irons seem to be making the lofts stronger I would like to try these type of woods instead of irons around 19/21 degrees as find the irons hard to hit high in the air from semi rough areas. All the best Bill J
VIDEO IDEA!! Could you do a head to head with the epic 3 wood vs Rogue 3 wood to show how much the jailbreak makes a difference in 3 woods. Love the videos Rick.
Great initial review Rick....they look very very good....I am very interested in how the jailbreak technology in the fairway woods perform....not sure why they left it out on the Epic series fairway clubs
I can’t wait to see the further review! I also really am excited to see how the jail break tech helps 3 woods!! I also would love to hear some of your opinion for what kind of swing some drivers suit better. The fact that the epic is a little fade biased has helped me since I over drew my driver.
In the long run do you think they will start to look more towards the marketing difference such as lowering the prices for players who maybe can’t afford a high budget driver?
Looks like some callaway ap3 in the bag here. When’s that review coming? Chip Brewer is doing a nice job with callaway. Just need that stock price to move.
Thanks so much Ryan! Can’t wait to test both Rogue & Sub Zero fully over a 2-3 week period & in real game situations to give the best review I can offer. Stay tuned!
Hey Rick, do you think Callaway could be saying that Rogue is not a replacement for Epic because they are going to release another driver? Or is it more about the money (if you don’t say it’s a replacement, the price of last years model won’t drop)?
I'm thinking clubs are maxed out especially in drivers. I've seen you hit m2 drivers from a few years ago over 300 and these new ones no different. I actually think that dispersion was better off the bat with no fine tuning with the old. I know you hadn't adjusted them yet but your an excellent player so the left & right misses worry me for these models. I think the big break thru's are done.
I liked the review, quick and simple, I know you gonna come out with a full review in a couple weeks but the short review I like very much I like the looks of it looks really stylish and I think I might have to get one. thank you
My question would be that if it is not replacing the Epic, then other than a desire to just flood the market with drivers every 6 months, why are they releasing a new set of drivers? When chances are they will go exactly the same distance as the ones they replaced. And the ones before that, and the one before that etc etc
Reading through the comments there seems to be some tension with the new format. I like the idea but was curious if would be open to a suggestion. What if you would post a picture and/or one swing on Instagram and Facebook and ask for what viewers want to see on those posts? Then you could go through the few weeks for a full review and incorporate those questions some point during your official review on here.
Disagree with quite a few of the comments on here about the new first look review people saying they don't like it. An over view on the day the club is released is great. When you but a new car you don't test drive it the first day you look over it a couple of times read a bit about it then test drive. Rick's doing that for you. Happy days I say.
darrel mm72 but that’s just ricks opinion on the club....you don’t take Jeremy Clarksons view into account before you buy a car. I feel it’s an easy way to release more videos but without the quality content of a proper club review. He needs to get the clubs on the course and test them in the real world not on closed data smashing it 300+
That's exactly what I am doing... The first look gives people a chance to see the club and also I get to talk about the brands claims... Then after a couple of weeks of full testing, and in the bag testing I will report back with a full review. TaylorMade M3 review to come this weekend.
Rick Shiels Golf but if this is just a “here is a new club and not a review” I can do that on the manufacturers website......just review it, no need for all these different videos in the lead up to a “full review”
Rick, you are a unit. You are getting behind the ball in a big way, but I've seen you hit 315 before and with less effort. Is that club, fitness, lack of summer play or a combination of everything?
Looking forward to seeing the full reviews. People hate change, crack on with it though. I’d rather hear the opinion of someone who’s lived with clubs for a couple of weeks.
Nice to see yet another brand new driver promising the world and delivering the same as every other driver on the market. I used to get sucked in by the marketing til i realised it was all about me, not the magic new shiny clubs.
Would love to see a fair head to head: Rogue standard vs Epic standard then Rogue subzero vs Epic equivalent... in both cases same loft head, same settings and same shaft, otherwise it doesn't make sense... Would also be very good to see numbers against M3 and M4!
Rick really don't like the new video setup. Seems very rushed and that you're just trying to hit RUclips with a review before the other guys get there but you have a loyal fan base who will watch your videos even if they have seen another review first
Hey Sean! Thanks for watching! Just to clarify, this isn’t my review! I’m showing you the product now, then I will take 2/3 weeks to fully test the product and then come back to you with my full in-depth review!
i used to be that guy that bought every new taylormade offering. But Im wiser now. if you want a new driver, get fit for the cheapest top brand club you can get your hands on. they truly all perform the same. Im still going to get the 2018 clubs mind you, but my point is they are all the same

more videos rick do`s more money he makes
yeah, feels like a Callaway product presentation... boring
I took a look at the design and then I've been skipping and fast forwarding to see the shots :-(
its cause he tries to make the videos as lomg as possible. notice he makes 2-3 videos per club. normal thirsty youtuber tactics
I like this form of video, it gets us the video quick, let’s us see the shots we want to see, and gives us our new product fix. Hi Ted, thanks for watching the channel! I CANNOT wait for you to watch my new review format! The M3 video will be dropping on Saturday!
I'm so buying this driver... in a few years
Aaron Roffe in 1 year you can get it for 30% off
In 6 years you'll get it 90% off in good used condition... and it will go just as far as the newest offering.
Gross. Why?
Exactly Aaron!!! Why should you pay for the advertising budget to Callaway Golf for the Rogue driver or any other new club to hit the market this season. These clubs will be someone's reject in the future as Callaway will keep bringing out new and improved versions for years to come.....sad, if you really think about the whole cycle.....

Would love to see head to head brands with blacked out heads so only the numbers count ie zero marketing bias

Does it matter what loft you get depending on your swing? Or is it personal preference?
I just hit a Rouge today at Dicks really liked it. I did not hit a sub zero though. Looking forward to your complete review.
Do you get shots that spin too low on the sub zero (especially on high strikes)? Does increasing loft offset that?
Hi rick...
I am using callaway Xr driver which I hit 290 avg.. I am going change it but m confused between the rogue subzero and gbb subzero????
Or
I haven’t tried TM yet ? Shall I go for it??
Which would you suggest for a natural fader of the ball. The Rogue Standard or Sub Zero?
A few questions Rick firstly is the Subzero fade biased as Epic Subzero was.
Does the normal Rogue`s size slow your swing speed slightly?
And finally what are the difference`s in-flight height and spin.
I wont be going for a fitting until I have seen your full on reviews.
I would have liked to hear your detailed review of the adjustable neck?
Would love to see the draw bias head tested cause I have trouble hitting a draw and no one has tested it thanks.
Want to know how it compares to the G400 and the Cobra F8. Also, does it really improve numbers wise over the Epic?
I play an Epic Sub Zero but I love the look of this driver. I just don’t see a big enough difference to make the switch. I hope you can identify if there are any significant enhancements in performance.
Hahahahahaha the way you threw that head cover away at the beginning
This isn't really about drivers but about wedges instead. Do you think wedges are better with rust? I just got a new wedge.
This is an example of great integration of technology and style. Absolutely love the look of the driver with the successful technology of the epic. Just awesome cobra and callaway making massive waves this year!
Rick what camera do you use??
How do you rate the feel compared to the epic and the m3
with only two setting 9 and 10.5 degree what changes can be made with the (2) screws?
I'm looking to buy a new epic or rogue driver. Any way you can do a head to head video?
When you hit the Epic you said it felt like a "Hard" hit. How does the Rouge feel?
I do like the look of the bottom. What is your thought on the jailbreak technology? Does it give anything to a player?
I thought it was only making the ball fast by slightly increasing swing speed? For the jailbreak didn't they shave the weight to try and catch ping on MOI?
You talked about the sound difference what about the feel of this driver compared to the epic?
Thanks Rick
Question Rick, When you have finished with the sub zero, I’ll take it off your hands?
What about the DRAW version will u test it to rick ?
Great looking woods! What are the new Callaway irons in your bag?
Nice one rick. Can’t wait for the full review.
after reviewing, do you see a reason to upgrade from epic to rogue (aside from looks)?
I know I'm really late, but I think the rogue is the same as the GBB epic. The epic flash is a really good driver though
rick
did you gain some swingweight around the belly?;)
might be smart to add the Epic and Epic SZ for data comps when reviewing ball/flight data testing with the Rogue and Rogue SZ in future testing, Rick. At least I hope you do that for the comprehensive Rogue driver reviews... likely won't have to do that for the full line of products, just the drivers... thanks and cheers, happy new year!
can you compare off center hits to m3
All the best
Bill J
Is this a forgiving driver for beginners?
Is shot shaping a difficult challenge with these drivers?? Could you give it a go
Still using the Rogue today....best Callaway driver in years.
Hmmm It’s a shame that it’s not more expensive...everyone knows that the more money you spend the quicker your handicap comes down
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Alexis Benson I watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Alexis Benson i watch on Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Alexis Benson I watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
Is Jail Break in all of the fairway woods and what's the numbers of the fairway woods? e.g. 3, 4, 5, 7 etc.
VIDEO IDEA!! Could you do a head to head with the epic 3 wood vs Rogue 3 wood to show how much the jailbreak makes a difference in 3 woods. Love the videos Rick.
Thanks Derek. I'll check it out as well.
Could you do a comparison video between the rogue and epic
Is the lie adjustable independent of the loft.... I prefer a 57ish lie and low loft
Best looking driver of 2018 imo
Great initial review Rick....they look very very good....I am very interested in how the jailbreak technology in the fairway woods perform....not sure why they left it out on the Epic series fairway clubs
I can’t wait to see the further review! I also really am excited to see how the jail break tech helps 3 woods!! I also would love to hear some of your opinion for what kind of swing some drivers suit better. The fact that the epic is a little fade biased has helped me since I over drew my driver.
Great looking golf club. Looking forward to seeing the full review!
I have sldr's through out. 4- sand wedge, driver,3, and 19 degree hybrid. Need to change Mr driver. Either the original M2 or M4 ?
Charles Rohl I say the 2017 m2
I’d say 2016 M2, nicer color scheme and no difference in performance. Also about £100 cheaper
I hit those couple weeks ago really really solid clubs
You're killing me with that 2016 Oakmont US Open bag. Drooling! Want that bag so bad!
Is the sub zero a better club than the m3 and m4?
Hey Rick! Is it possible for you to make a comparevideo between this Rogue and GBB Epic?
In the long run do you think they will start to look more towards the marketing difference such as lowering the prices for players who maybe can’t afford a high budget driver?
I would love to see how low heel and high toe shots fair off the Rogue vs Taylormade's M3 & M4.
Looks like some callaway ap3 in the bag here. When’s that review coming? Chip Brewer is doing a nice job with callaway. Just need that stock price to move.
Hey, you going to test the draw one as well please. Thanks.
I like the brief preview of the new products, makes me look forward to full review. 👌🏻
Thanks so much Ryan! Can’t wait to test both Rogue & Sub Zero fully over a 2-3 week period & in real game situations to give the best review I can offer. Stay tuned!
Rick what driver Matt is that?
I liked the review, quick and simple, I know you gonna come out with a full review in a couple weeks but the short review I like very much I like the looks of it looks really stylish and I think I might have to get one. thank you
Thanks so much Dennis. I’m excited to share my full findings in two weeks from now once I’ve fully tested the product. Rick
My question would be that if it is not replacing the Epic, then other than a desire to just flood the market with drivers every 6 months, why are they releasing a new set of drivers? When chances are they will go exactly the same distance as the ones they replaced. And the ones before that, and the one before that etc etc
Great preview, Looking forward to the full review in 2-3 weeks. Like to see a direct head to head of the Epic SZ and the Rouge SZ with the same shafts
Rick can you test the draw model
Thanks for the review Rick! Looking forward to hearing more about these clubs.
Rick, when is the head 2 head EPIC vs. Rogue slated for?
Nice to see yet another brand new driver promising the world and delivering the same as every other driver on the market. I used to get sucked in by the marketing til i realised it was all about me, not the magic new shiny clubs.
Do you think the rogue drivers are going to compete with epic for performance and consistency
cant help but think about finchys jab a while back..."why dont you just review another driver that goes the excact same distance"
Seems very rushed and that you're just trying to hit RUclips with a review before the other guys get there but you have a loyal fan base who will watch your videos even if they have seen another review first
Sean Glackin I agree. Feels like a slack version of what came before. The only reason people watch is because of the numbers...
A agree don't get the point of this new review set up.
Hey Sean! Thanks for watching! Just to clarify, this isn’t my review! I’m showing you the product now, then I will take 2/3 weeks to fully test the product and then come back to you with my full in-depth review!
So what is this then...?
Benny Frank the 3rd click bait
i used to be that guy that bought every new taylormade offering. But Im wiser now. if you want a new driver, get fit for the cheapest top brand club you can get your hands on. they truly all perform the same. Im still going to get the 2018 clubs mind you, but my point is they are all the same
