Best advice i can give as a veteran hunter, capture every monster in both high and low rank, this will unlock hidden optional quests the game does not tell u about, pay attention to yellow exlamation marks in both the local map and the world one, some hidden quests are unlocked talking with characters u find in free explorations, u cannot capture elder dragons, do all the gathering quests it will unlock better food for the canteen, do no use the defender set as someone else already told u in the comments, don't go to iceborne until you unlocked everything in the base game, all the palico gadgets and all mantles and items for your hunter, you will unlock their + version in the dlc, also fight tempered monsters as soon as possible to unlock hidden quests as well, and don't be afraid to call SOS and to ask stuff to other players in game, we are all hella chill and love to help ^^ have fun and happy hunting man
Good to hear from a veteran hunter! I've actually been playing the monster hunter series for a while. First with Freedom Unite, then unfortunately couldn't play the DS releases, till GU and Rise (on the switch). Monster Hunter World is such a stark departure from those games it's like whiplash. I love it though! Rise was super arcade-like which was cool but it felt stale after 400-ish hours. GU is still SUPER FUN, but holy moly IS THAT GAME SO LONG. I got into G-rank like months ago yet I've heard it's just the surface. LIKE WHAT! But, with the announcement of Wilds, I thought World would be great to try. Thanks for the advice!
@@TheBlankGuy absolutely man i agree, after trying wilds beta i can tell u that it looks just like world but better, the feeling on movement weapon sets etc it's the same but different at the same time, world+iceborne are incredible, u will love the ride trust me
My goal next year (or hopefully sooner) is to get a ps5. Literally just to play wilds! What? Another Elden ring game? Excuse me; im farming for this super rare drop over on Wilds.
9:46 yeahhh i did the same mistake the first time i played too.. the ghillie mantle loses its effect if you attack before the effect timer runs out, then you gotta take it off to recharge it.. my stupid self was extremely confident that nothing could see me the whole hunt, only to be trampled by an angry anjanath
Oh shit, I never knew what a first time experience looks like to a new player before I started on monster hunter freedom unite and stopped progressing then MHWorld came and I never looked back still suck at it tho but I'm learning the ropes just like you
Hello fellow monster hunter freedom unite hunter! I too come dome the old world when things were much simpler. I actually played rise and GU before touching world; but goddamn this game is in its own whole world! It’s crazy fun! Keep going hunter!
Just so you know, you don’t have to SOS if you’re in the same lobby. Otherwise randoms can join, unless you turn on manual accept. I’d also suggest not relying on the clutch claw to attack the monster. Just enough for the tenderize is enough. It’s a risky move if timed poorly, and doesn’t do good immediate damage.
THANK YOU for the advice! We’ve been trying to figure out why people keep joining our two man hunting spree. I’m still fascinated by the inclusion of the clutch claw; I tend to spam like it’s Valor style from GU 😭.
@@TheBlankGuy as long as SOS can flared message appear, you or ur friend can quit and join the other person quest, just make sure ure in the same lobby
@TheBlankGuy fast instruction: 1. Horizontally you have lines of food with certain colors. One color is a group of 3 specific buffs and their require succesively 2-4-6 food item of same color to get them, food type (meat/fish/veggie) dont affect food skills. Mind you that form one line you can have only one skill. In the beggining if i remember correctly you eat 2 or 4 items so you can get 1 or 2 food skills but upgrading canteen will allow you to choose up to 6 ingredients giving you a choice of 1 skill of lvl3, 2 skillks of levels 1&2 or 3 skills lvl1. 2. There are currently for you 3 tabs (meat, fish & veggie), those food groups boost your attacks/defens/elemental defence and again like with food skills you need 2 items of certain food group to boost your stats and you can get those boosts in sizes S/M/L so to get 1 large attack boos you need to take 6 meat items. 3. Fresh foods. Those are shiny items on the menu and they boost chance of activation for food skills. Sometimes its better to take less desired food skill if fresh foods happen to better allign with it becouse it gives you better chance it will accually activate. The more you get foods for canteen the better chance youll get fresh ingredients where you want them. Activation chance is indicated by 3 stars that fill up the more fresh your meal is. Also Chefs Choise meal always has all the fresh ingredients... It just may not always have skills suitable for your weapon. If skill activates you get notification when character finishes meal 4. I advice you to try gather as many thing as you can just by naturally going thru canteen quests and optional quests, fishing whenever you get to the new zone amd gatjer cacti, fossils and other gatjerable things BUT some items have wild requirenments and can be hidden in specific locations or require activating specific quest. For that I give you this checklist with instructions, its increadibly helpfull in collecting all the ingredients mhwcanteen.pondryhills.com/ 5* there is a button for "skill info" you can press in canteen to check what color gives what buff and at what lvl. For me it was under menu button ▶️ but you gotta look at it youreself, when youre in ingredient sellection theres info about that button on the left under your order
@@TheBlankGuy no problem. I forgot to mention feline skills which are random skills that can show up anyway. If you'd choose ingredients that dont add up to any food skills you can still have 3 random skills. You can even check what they are just before you get into ingredient sellection. They may give you even additional faint sometimes, or raise probability of rare endemic life (capturable pets) showing up on the map. About endemic life its a fun activity to do when you want to have a break from hunting. Some are rare and quite preety, some come out in specific times. When you finish base game you can even catch Nekkers from Witcher games or cactiars from Final Fantasy (those have even 3 variants and one of them is extremely rare and fast to run)
Look I know the talking and unskippable cutscenes can be a tad annoying, but you dont have to deal with them anymore once you see them. Also the game is very worth it. Grindy, but managable. Get through it hunter!!!! You can do it!! There is a lot to see and a lot to do!!
Yeah, the cutscenes definitely are a bit long, but you get used to them! I personally I don't really care about the story of monster hunter as someone's played the older games. But, you can't knock Capcom for trying to expand the Monster Hunter Lore!
@TheBlankGuy Can't wait until MHWILDS, so this won't matter anymore, man, everyone on Playstation and P.C.all good though, I will happily hold it down for my Xbox players until then.
Glad you picked this game up, hope you make It to the end.

You know that you can eat food in canteen before a mission to raise your max HP and stam?
Yes sirrrr, I’m still getting used to understand what meal gives which buff.

ah fresh meat for the grinder
😭😭😭
Avoid using the cheat gear iceborne added so you can enjoy your first playthrough more!
May I ask what's the "cheat" gear???
Nevermind, just did a google search. The "Defender" armour I'm assuming!
Yes sir
Also try getting the palico gadgets they give you a small monster friend which you can ride and helps you fight
