- In this video we'll go over the 10 best cards which allow you to search out a field spell card from your deck.
-Deck code names-
"Style" = these decks are made to be somewhat competitive and have no restrictions in their deck building.
"XTR" xtr = Extreme Theme. This deck follows a theme deck idea the the fullest, like only running cards with "Greed" in their names, or only running Pyro type monsters ect.
"FADE" fade = FAil DEck. Fade decks usually follow the theme of trying to pull off a card to do combo or trying to summon a specific hard to summon monster. Like trying to use the card effect of "Over the Rainbow" or trying to summon "Greed Quasar" and using its effect. The difference from FaDe decks to XTR decks is that FaDe decks can use whatever cards it wants to pull off its combo, while XTR decks are more about the cards in the deck itself and less about a combo or trying to summon 1 monster.
"Convoluted Combos" - This deck will play against a stacked deck (not shuffled and against myself using a 2nd computer) and pull off very hard to do or impossible combos.

I never really thought about it before, but it *is* weird we don't refer to things having a "Terraforming" effect like we do with MST or RotA..

I guess this is due to Terraforming never being such a staple as MST, since for the longest time most Field Spells weren't that great, aside from some decks not having use for any.

If I'm not mistaken, Terraforming was banned to nerf Tear without hitting it directly but that has now been taken care of in other ways, so there's no need to keep Terraforming banned.

Can't blame ya, because ancient fairy was banned way before field spell become essential in modern archetype so alot of people forgot why this card was banned
Might have been an oversight from you, but here's an additional bonus from banshee:
She banishes herself as a cost. Since she has a quick effect, she dodges called by the grave. Also, since she activates the field spell, you can't ash blossom her.
So when you use banshee, the only way to actually negate her is with a generic negate any monster.

@@thiccupcake It says draw 2 cards but doesn't specify where your supposed to draw from so it makes the card unplayable so that's why it's banned.
Ancient Fairy Dragon is a interesting card. When it was first released no one played it cause Field Spells weren't good back then. The Special Summon effect also wasn't that broken back then since the most you could usually use that effect for was to special summon a Level 1 Tuner and "Synchro Climb" into a level 8 Synchro
Also, you forget to mention that before it got banned you could overlay 2 ancient fairy dragon (or another lv7) into galaxy tomahawk to extend your plays even more
Very good list! I would also add Ancient Fairy Dragon was banned because Destrudo made it more consistent, because you can just play Armageddon Knight or Dragon Shrine to make instant level 7 synchros. Even some older FTKs became consistent again because of that.

The reason why Field Searchers aren't being referred to as "Terraformings" is because unlike cards like Stratos or MST, it wasn't really that game breaking back in the day. Having 3 MST or 3 Stratos was completely unheard of back in the day. Reinforcement of the Army being another example. Field Spells only became incredibly powerful recently.
You could do top 10s by old school archetypes, limitless video ideas. Top 10 Gravekeepers, Top 10 Amazonesses, Top 10 Ancient Gears, ect.
Actually you can also activate Demise of the Land from your hand if your opponent special summons a monster during your turn, since it's a quick play spell. And these conditions happen quite often in YGO these days.
True, but not during your opponents turn which is what I meant but didn't convey properly in the video.

Gravekeeper's Commandant is so easy to get into your hand with Throne or Recruiter, and can return to your hand with Stele. Definitely a fantastic field searcher. I don't need to run Terraforming in my Gravekeeper's Deck.
I think Vampire Takeover is a really good card to have if you're running a Vampire Deck. Summon a Vampire and set take over. When/if your opponent attacks you can spring take over and activate Vampire Kingdom from your deck then you get the 500pt. bonus in time to (potentially) save your monster.
F.A. Auto Navigator is literally the best playmaker in its archetype for its ability to make their boss monster transporter with itself and one of the level 4s.
Traps that could be great to make a Critias Fusion based around (I will personally add all the cards that had been errata like Crush Card Virus so the Critias Fusion will have the effect that the trap originally had)

Makes u miss tier zero spyrals. 3 terraforming 3 set rotation 3 dragon's ravine for destrudo and 3 field spell. Now that's consistency
i wanna see a top 5 or 10 tier zero decks. zoo, spyral, pepe, teledad, dragon ruler, nekroz, can’t think of any others.
BURN YOUR COUCH honestly these tier 0 decks have not aged well. Dragon rulers are not as good as they are in 2013, nowadays they are expensive to summon opt beatsticks that really dont have any good plays. Nekroz is an archetype that has good cards but does absolutely nothing, unicore pass doesnt cut it anymore and djinn is so easily broken and spellbooks lose to a single ash. They dont have any power because star hall takes time to set up and fate cant solo carry the deck. Pepe lost its grind game in mr4 which made it tier 0 in the past. Nowadays you want to run cards that have a higher level than lizardraw and tartle, your advantage drawing machine, such as astropgraph chronograph etc and youre not going to abuse pendulum sorcerer to pop plush over and over again when mr4 exists monkey is a dead scale that gets you nothing when popped when you really want secondary effs from getting popped by electrumite. You want to be popping things like iris ariadne or plush but they arent really high scales pendulum magicians are just outright better only zoo and spyral arent powercrept
MyNeighborTeemo that’s a fantastic and really accurate analysis. i agree with most of that. especially about nekroz doing nothing. nekroz is just summon 2 impcantation monsters then pass. takes them forever to even set up a boss monster and any negate destroys the whole play. i’ve seen a couple pepe builds using some of the cards we got back off the banlist that were able to make some pretty solid boards. decent rogue choice at the very least. qliphorts were never tier zero but they actually aged better than a lot of those decks in mr4. towers is pretty power crept (although you can still make it work against certain matchups) but the stun or metal foes versions of the deck have more consistency than pepe does nowadays with the 3 scouts back. i’m not quite ready to say monkeyboard can come back though. i haven’t seen anyone playing zoo but i saw a spyral orcust deck that was pretty good. some hero builds aren’t too bad this format. but yeah for the most part konami always perma-kills problem decks to the point they are never useable again.

"Madolche Butlerusk" and "Madolche Messengelato" are also field searchers, but they have conditions. Butlerusk's effect only activates if you have another Madolche monster on your field when you Normal Summon it. While Messengelato's effect only activates if you already have a Beast-type Madolche monster on your field and it needs to be Special Summoned. A better way to utilize Messengelato's effect is to pair him with Mewfeuille since Mewfeuille allows you to Special Summon another Madolche monster from your hand.
P.S.: Messengelato's effect also allows you to search for other Madolche Spell/Trap Cards.
Necrobanshee have an amazing sinergy with baladorch, If U have dorch-Chan in field, u can activate Her quick effect to banish a Monster in the oponent turn without wait for the oponent use Something
Love these lists. Not sure if you take requests (or if you’ve done this one) but I have an idea: Top 10 Cards that were made useless in Duel Links (I.e. cards like Flashbang)
Flashbang isn't useless in duel links, run at least one of them in most of my decks
How about Top 10 cards that can not be added into Duel Links due to the Speed Duel format in general.
I am forever sad that my favourite Field Spell, Ancient City Rainbow Ruins for Crystal Beasts, is completely non-compatible with Duel Links :(
i play a mystic mine mill deck and after i lost the 2 metaverse and 1 terraforming, i now play 3 demise of the land, 1 terraforming, 1 metaverse, and 2 planet pathfinder in a 60 card mill deck (win by decking out opponent). everyone said mystic mine was dead but my mill deck is still amazing. idk about normal mine burn , but my mystic mine mill deck works just fine with planet pathfinder.
Ah yes set rotation gateway, I still remember I gave gateway to Chaos BLS player and he proceded to banish everything on my field with it, 11/10 will play again.
Striker Dragon. It only searches out Boot Sector Launch, but it is a +1 and a must have for any Rokket deck. Sadly it is currently an OCG promo at this time, so don't expect to make your Revolver Structure Deck super viable anytime soon.
Missed out on Planet Pathfinder being an excellent searcher for Trains, since they have Heavy Freight Train Derricrane and Speedy Express Bullet Train that can Special Summon themselves off of Planet Pathfinder's Normal Summon. Lets you instantly go into a Rank 10 or link plays.
Another good example is Marincess Sea Angel. I know it says any Marincess spell card, but Battle Ocean is the only Marincess spell card that's been printed.

Kind if surprised xD since I sincerly believe terra should be at number 1 (despite the fact that there is a HUGE debate between it and set rotation) but AFD shouldn't be better than these two even if YES it is an extra deck monster , which is imo the reasoon why it should not be number 1 xD because not all decks would have space for it or would play an extra deck cards in their decks ... anyway great job xD was fun to watch !
Ancient Fairy dragon isn't number 1 because its useful in all field spell decks, its number 1 for being broken in decks that can use it.

While I'd agree with the placement, I'd give an owl of luck's slow ability a slight bit more credit since you can't stop it with cards like droll and lock which stops searches, because it doesn't go to the hand...

I always thought that Ancient Fairy Dragon got banned because of the special summon thing which made it easy to use with link plays. Interesting that it was because of the field spell thing.

It's not Terraforming's fault that it didn't become a player game term.
It's simply that there aren't all that many "Terraformings", but there are quite a few "MST"s, "Garnet"s, or "ROTA"s.
set rotation is also good at stoping evenly matched since they now control a card and cant activate it from there hand.
and is also good againt BA since they now have s/t's they cant special them from hand.
I always found it strange that the anime character who used Planet Pathfinder never used its effect, and in fact did not even run a Field Spell

@@Random1nesss uh yeah i dont think Madolche had been on the banlist at all bc the deck is linear af. I think Mageiline searches, Petingcessour summons if no guys in the GY (very easy for Madolche, does lower level by 1 which sucks), Messengelato searches Spells (basically Stratos but spells) and the only other viable main deck monsters are Hootcake (banish a guy to special summon) and Anjelly (tribute to special summon but get rid of during EP), so yeah like half of them are stratos.
Im surprised Generaid battle didn't make it- it seems A LOT better than Pop-up or planet Pathfinder, despite being more restrictive. it can search Deck or Graveyard, it is a trap like Metaverse, so you can spring it during your opponent's turn, and it immediately activates Stage's crazy effect. and it can even reset the SOPT on stage if need be. although maybe im not realizing the criteria right.

Salamangreat should of been highter than owl, pop up, Pathfinder, demise, metaverse and teraforming. Reason being its easier, more consistent, saves room in the deck thus improving card economy.

I don't think pop up would be overpowered in the days when only 1 field spell was released since back then it would be a dead card most of the time because few people played them! So going +1 is fair for a really specific counter card.
