From experience, I know that sewing through adhesive will gum up the needle ( imperceptible to the eye) and also create a drag on the fabric - makes the machine do weird things like pucker stitches and snap thread. You need to keep changing out the needle and perhaps buy a walking foot. These pants are fabulous! I LOVE your videos.
Love these! I just found your videos and I'm really enjoying all the techniques. I'm an old lady school bus driver that is sick of wearing plain jeans to work. In the 1970"s I was pretty creative. Thank you I'm going to grab some bandanas today!!
Bad ass jeans! Try: lengthening your stitch length when the fabric is bulky Use 501 basting spray I’m stead of glue Adjust the pressure of your machines foot - if it’s pushing too heavily on the fabric it can cause the layers to shift and bunch up. Again, BAD ASS JEANS! Great job getting through all of that work!
Wow, they look awesome! I absolutely love that you are a young, creative person who gives anything a go, we need more young folk like you in the world. From this old lady, well done and keep being an inspiration to your generation!!! Ps. If you opened an etsy store and sold your creations there, you'd KILL IT!!
Instead of glue use either a basting spray (used more for patchwork) or an iron on adhesive (used more for appliqués/stiffer projects) it will hold it all down when sewing 🙃 For this project I would personally use a basting spray
They look even BETTER than the inspiration piece, so KUDOS! 👏🏾 I would use a variety of colors, because I am THAT girl, but you did a great job! Thanks for sharing! 🙌🏾
I bet you love them!!! The sewing machine wouldn't stitch correctly because of the stretch in your denim. Just use a ballpoint needle. It'll save your sanity!!! Loved your work! You're genius!
Very interesting technique. You have a lot of patience to deconstruct a pair of jeans. I see that a lot of others gave you various ideas for the glue, I agree, that was not the best kind of glue and it is why you had trouble sewing, so don't beat up your sewing machine for that problem. You did a great job overall.
What a great final result!! I’m not surprised however you had issues stitching considering how you put the cop of thread on the machine. Firstly, it was upside down so the thread just fell down off the cop and would have caused huge problems with the tension. These cones are cross wound, so need the thread to be drawn upwards off from the top. Next time put the cop of thread the right way up behind the machine on a thread stand , thread the machine as normal, that will allow the thread to feed off the cop correctly. Btw you need to have the presser foot up to open the tension discs whilst threading the machine otherwise the thread won’t be in the correct place. Elmers “glue it all” works great to hold fabric together whilst sewing, it’s used by quilters regularly. Small dots of glue are all that’s needed, there’s no need to cover the entire piece. The glue can be set with a warm iron straight away, no waiting. Elmers also will wash out the first time the piece is washed. A Jeans needle is absolutely required for this sort of work, in either a 90 or 100. Alternatively you could use a Topstitch needle in the same size. I would suggest you join a Facebook group for your make and model of sewing machine, they are a wealth of knowledge, and will be happy to support a fellow machine owner!
Those pants are awesome, you did an amazing job. I wish I had your skills and patience, because I would so make myself a pair. I had something similar back in the day but not half as amazing looking as what you did. I live in a beach town and those would be perfect for a day downtown, at the beach or on the boardwalk. Love them.
Use a brayer roller to spread glue. Nice outcome here. Per the tension, sometimes lint gathers in the shuttlecock and hinders thread movement, hence messing up the tension. It's also a good idea to get a tune up yearly if you use the machine regularly.
The top stitch could be because of how you have your machine threaded or your new thread set up. What kind of needle did you use? Did you use a denim needle? What was the weight of your thread? Those are several factors that could cause with top stitch issues.
The thread holder that is on it's side to the left of where you were putting the thread, lift it to use cones of thread or you can buy a stand alone holder that stands behind your sewing machine. Use the right thread, HD (jean) needles and the right glue. Think also of a walking foot. Great looking 👖.
These are definitely got to be very tedious very difficult taking everything apart and then having to put everything back together but those pants turned out dope they’re so sick I love them now I wanna try to make a pair myself
I recommend getting a digital sewing machine, a lot of the stitches are set for you and if you want you can manually changed them. I have a brother one, anyway thank you for this because i always wanted to do this techniques and sell them in the near future. ❤❤❤ One more thing use a heavy duty denim needle.
I’m JUST AMAZED!! keep up the good work and experience other unique designs that God put in your head. I am loving these. This is different and I’m glad that you brought it to us.
wow this is absolutely insane! I would have gone mad doing either part of this process and probably would have thrown my sewing machine out the window at some point 😅 you have crazy patience! the result looks sooooooooo so good tho! 🥰
Another way to get the distressed holes is to use a wire brush! I’ve tried it a couple of times (once by accident while putting one of said brushes in my pocket 😳) and it shreds through jean material really nicely
Next time you want to use fabric glue dilute the glue with water then paint brush it on or put the mixture in a small spray bottle but wait for glue to fully dry before sewing on so not to gum up your sewing machine. Good job your jeans 👖 looked very cute 😊
Bruh I wish I had that kind of patience, I don't know how to sew much, my moms used to sew everything coming up so I never paid attention now she's gone and I'm using her machine and RUclips videos to try and learn😆
after sewing the bandanas onto the jeans and distressing it w the dremel, does it have to be on the top side of the jeans? or can they be on the inside of the jeans? with either or look the same?
So I've had similar trouble with my machine. I believe along with the tension adjustment, your thread weight needs to be right for the fabric weight...
Did your thang 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 everyone has their own ways of doing a certain style and your pair came out on point atleast to me💯….quick question what was ur settings 😭 my stitchings are to close together idk which setting to put it on
Most stitching issues are caused by not threading properly. Threading with the foot down makes it impossible to get the thread into the tension discs so make sure the presser foot is up. Another issue could have been how you were feeding the thread, but I couldn't see on the video.. Number three and very important is to use the right needle. Use a specific denim needle whenever jeans are concerned, they are super sharp and produce crisp and accurate stitching. Being anxious to get on with projects is natural, but take time to check all is right with your machine....you will thank me later:) Enjoyed your video and your creativity. PS, don't sew over glue.

Well clearly you don’t have to much knowledge because I use non gumming adhesive spray for embroidery it doesn’t gum anything up!

Bro considering you don’t have industrial tools and materials you did a great job
KILLED IT!!! I do not think I have the patience to do all of this... particularly the deconstruction!!! Amazing! Keep it up!
Honestly, I like your result way better than the inspo. Nice job!
Love your appreciation of process and detail vs just being fashion forward. The craftsmanship is Inspirational.
Also, u went dumb on these.
Never seen anything like this before!!!! Great explanation and narrating. Don’t stop sewing. Take it in for servicing.

Yes my friend your are gifted 😊
So I've had similar trouble with my machine. I believe along with the tension adjustment, your thread weight needs to be right for the fabric weight...

you can use hemming tape next time to fuse the bandanas to the demin, works much faster ... and don't use stretchy denim
