Billy, I really enjoyed the clips and being green found them extremely helpful, I played them over and over. I do realise however, that there is no real substitute than going for real instruction. Please keep up the good work, I work as a security guard in the UK, this has helped with my confidence when working alone. Guro Brown, I love your presentation of unarmed Kali/panantukan/Arnis de Mano and Silat principles. It's direct, easy - to - understand and very clearly highly effective. You demonstrate both the "upper" and "lower" arts in a way that makes a lot of sense to even beginners. Superb, sir. I commend you.

Very good video. You do a great job at explaining the skill set ( I hate the word techniques). Too many people have a disparaging attitude toward the street effectiveness of the FMAs. What those people fail to realize is that these arts were not developed as a strictly unarmed art, as boxing is. But they were developed to counter blade attacks, since traditionally, the Filipinos are a bladed culture, where most street fights turn into knife combat. Great job!

Guys.. Please stop asking about the FLAG! Look at the training! I know all about the flag! I have answered this question 100 times.. An employee hung it the morning of this camp. I didn't notice it until after! Thinking about it though, this was the start of the war in iraq and I had many students and friends, some Filipno there fighting! Let me say this.. Master Wongs stuff is prearranged.. Bottom line.. This was a seminar I taught and 95% of them were very green. So there really was NO need for me to show this full speed. As bouncer for 17 years as well as working with the NOPD for 4, I do understand the difference between DRILL & REAL. You are totally right though. Thanks. Please view the other clips!

Pardon me, this may have been mentioned before, but I can't help but notice the Philippine flag is the wrong side up. The blue should always be on top which signifies the peace time and red should always be at the bottom. Other than that, keep at it, sir. I'm a FMA practitioner myself and love sharing and watching the art.

Great work. If you could allow full speed attacks like Master Wong then it would really highlight its efficacey. A lot of exibitions seem to shine when the snail punches come in one buy one but probably fall apart when a drug raged tosser is trying to knock your head off. Great tutilidge all the same.

Is Kali Eskrima used as martial arts of law enforcement officers in U.S. ?? like, the baton tactics etc.??
Unfortunately not many.. Very few of the better agencies and departments are starting to come around though.. I have been training LEO since 99..
Billy Brown The Brazilian army is using Kali in their system and they call it "Kombato".... In india, the Indian army started using Pekiti Tirsia Kali, a form of Kali martial art..... I think, the U.S, should start using Filipino martial art as well.....
Yeah, I know these things.. and I totally agree with you! The USA is to busy saving money though than putting it towards sound training for the troops.. sad but true..
Well, our government tends to save a little bit and spend a lot and it typically spends a lot on a lot of bad ideas which would be obvious to a half - assed economics analyst. And each party wants to spend a lot of money on its sponsored businesses (i.e. lobbies). And not trying to make a political statement here but that's one big reason why I'm a Libertarian. Another thing I wanted to mention here, though, is that Guro Brown is not just showing Filipino concepts but also a lot of Indonesian principles as well. A lot of the concepts presented here come from the De Thouars lineages of Indonesian Silat Serak (and offshoots) and have been wedded (very nicely) to Filipino concepts and tactics. Leo T. Gaje's PTK also has certain silat principles because he lived in Indonesia for a time and learned a full curriculum of a system of silat there. A good friend of mine trained under Leo's lineage for a decade. I forget the specific name of the style but remember years ago when Leo was still on good terms with Bill Sanders' Pencak Silat Pukulan Cimande Pusaka lineage, there were certificates of Leo T. Gaje which had him listed as a Guru in some system of Indonesian silat. This is one reason why Leo's lineage (PTK) is a little different in its hand-to-hand application than Nene Tortal's lineage (Dekiti Tirsia Siradas), although the two were once a common system under the Tortal lineage. Having said that, I will reiterate that I LOVE Guro Brown's specific presentation, as it is smooth, very well - executed and easy to follow. And I will say that I think our troops would benefit much better from a similar blend of Filipino and Indonesian combat principles and tactics rather than -- for example -- Krav Maga and/or that "USMC Martial Arts" which has been largely taken from MMA (shaking my head).

That throw you're doing at the 3:30/4 min mark is a Indonesian silat throw not filipino. Just wanted to clarify.
Never said it was Filipino for one.. Second, Silat and Kali look very similar MUCH of the time.. Infact, you find much of the same throws and other techniques in BOTH arts.. Usually just the entries is what separates them.. I have both a Silat Instructor and a Kali instructor that teaches that throw and they both claim that it came from their respected art.. When it comes down to it though, A punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. So thanks, but I disagree..
There's only so many ways to Use directional energy, efficiently lock, or wrist turn, arm etc, etc..of coarse these applications will overlap in many different martial arts and will look similar if not the same. Wrist turn in Arnis/ Kali/ Eskrima same as Sankyo in Aikido. Jujitsu also has similar wrist locks as Kali, etc, etc. (people only bend so many ways;)
I find the similarities have helped me relate to martial arts I don't do with a better understanding. The directional/ redirectional energy he is using is a concept shared by other martial arts as well
But most serious of all!!!!.....l it looks like you everyone is learning and having fun. Well done.

this why i don't understand why most of my fellow filipinos don't know our own art instead they choose other arts from other countries such as tae kwon do, aikido and many more. if they only realise how practical and deadly our own art is.. crab mentality that's our biggest problem
