    Am addicted to swimming and my hair is almost 2 years locked. I don't let salt and chlorine affect the love I have for water and my hair. Thank you for talking about this subject 🤣

      Yes! I would live in the water if I could. Maybe one day I’ll retire new the ocean because I love the sea and not having to worry about my hair getting wet in the ocean.

      Tell me more about that. I want to swim more but I’m scared my started microlocs are going to get jacked up. I got locs to feel free. I don’t want to be scared wetting my hair.

      @vanesal3435 I started mine with braids and have been washing my hair weekly and swimming as often as I please with no issue.

      @@vanesal3435 I started my locs with twist and keep swimming every week. Before put the silicone cap weet my hair with clean water and chlorine free, and wash it right after swimming. But I had some fear at the beginning, I remember using 2 swim caps that time. Not anymore 😂

      @isonewday the fear is real in the beginning though. I can relate 😅

    The swim caps from You Go Natural are great! Very stylish and work! My nape / kitchen does get damp but that is it. if I braid my locs and pile them on top of my head, the do indeed stay dry as you say. Sometimes, I wet my locs before swimming and putting on the cap to minimize the absorption of the chlorine in the even of water seeping under the cap.

    This video put me at ease I just started swim classes. I layered my locs … with shower cap, two swim caps and my locs still got wet in the pool. It made me nervous but after watching your video I feel good about the frequency of washing my locs as long as I moisturize.. thank you

    This podcast is bittersweet for me. Where were you when I was dragging extra dry chlorinated hair and scalp around these "great" United States? "I have locs. 🤪 They'll be fine after I condition. 🤪" The beginning of this summer was rufffff cousin. Last year wasn't so bad. Maybe because ours were so young? But these young adult locs brought the teen angst full force this year. Distilled water wash followed by hot oil treatment literally brought our hair back to life. Thanks so much for the tips!

      Ooh I like the distilled water tip! Folks sleep on using water other than tap 🙌🏾✨

      @DavidJaysWay That's cuz it's $4 a bottle. I used 10 on our hair. Guess who started boiling water? 🤣

    Thx for this video. I swim at the pool at least twice a week. But I’ve heard from others that I shouldn’t wash my hair especially with locs that often. Is that true? Do you still recommend washing (with shampoo, etc) after every swim? 🙏🏾

      I honestly think it depends on how mature your locs are and how well your scalp and hair take to being washed often. I think it’s important to wash out the chlorine from the pool every single time you’re in it so it doesn’t damage your hair but if you swim every single day I don’t know that your hair and scalp would like being washed daily. That would be excessive for my hair. I might wash 2 to 3 times a week to try and find balance
