Thanks for nice video. My parents took me there in the 60s, back then there was an old 12x12 that had General Sherman carved into it with white painted letters we were able to walk up and place ours hands on it. Took my kids there about 18 years ago had a little fence around it.
Thanks again for bringing back some fond memories.

Not to mention there is some great information along the way. Sometimes I watch one because I've been there and just want a walk down memory lane, other times I'm looking for ideas of places to go. Keep up the good work brother.

The drive was long, but so worth it! The hike to get to the tree was simple, but depending on your age and weight, the hike back to your car might be difficult because it is uphill. I recommend bringing a trekking pole and definitely come with at least one more person. Don't be discouraged though. Most of the visitors I saw were middle aged to almost elderly and almost all of them had no trouble getting to the tree and back up.

my wife and I went to see general Sherman, on the way back to the parking lot we moved ahead of the rest of the sightseers. About two thirds of the way up a big black bear was moving about 30 yards behind us diagonally and eventually moved ahead of us and he kept going. It was cool to see. If you are going to sequoia from Visalia through three rivers the drive up the mountain has a LOT of hairpin turns. If you go back down the same way the brakes on the car takes a bad beating so make sure you have good pads on your brakes.

When people think of trees, they think tall. So it is easy to confuse "largest tree in the world" with tallest tree in the world. General Sherman is the largest in volume (more wood), but it is not the tallest, in fact there are many taller trees. The tallest of all is also in California, the name is Hyperion at 380 feet, followed by the Himalayan Cypress in Tibet, Menara in Malaysia, Centurion in Australia, among others.
