Didn't work for me. Message says "pivot table field isn't available because it exceeds total num of characters that a cell can contain". I'm looking to return a 4 character, alpha numeric result.
This has happened to me, try to pull a few more fields into rows or columns. My situation was a date field that returned the same error, I needed to pull in the status field that corresponds with the date to avoid the limit.
