Example: "AMAZON MKTPL*RC3EB61I1" and "AMAZON MKTPL*RC4GH9MM0 " They are both amazon purchases but every month I need to update the lookup table. Is there a way for Excel to recognize 1 or 2 words from a cell and tie them to one of my preset categories? Example: "AMAZON MKTPL". Thank you!

Very cool and helpful video! For others using this in google sheets, the only formula I had to change was when calculating the months under "extra savings". Just add an arrayformula around the xlookup (everything inside stays exactly the same as in the video)

Good video! Question: When refunds appear on a credit card statements some are shown in a separate column like a bank statement (credits\debit column). While other credit card statements show a refund in the same column along with purchases but in a positive format while the purchases show as a negative (-) format. How can i merge these various credit card statements together? Thank you.

I have tried to create this - albeit on a larger scale, and both the Xlookup method and Power Query methods are returning errors. In the case of Xlookup - I get a N/A error - I believe it is because I have over 1200 vendors - and the character search, if not EXACT - returns N/A. Is there a way to limit the number of text characters searched for in the Description field? - NEXT in Power Query - I have a similar problem - The Query is looking for an EXACT match for the Description Field - to Reference. Is there a way to have Power Query limit the number of characters so that if the query finds 15-20 characters that match the search, it will match? - I am trying NOT to use the following formula - any longer: =LOOKUP(9.99E+307,SEARCH(MASTERVENDORS3[Lookup Vector],C2),MASTERVENDORS3[VENDORS]). And instead, replace it with (ideally) Power Query or, if not possible - Xlookup. The problem is when I change the formula to XLOOKUP(MASTERVENDORS3[Lookup Vector],C2),MASTERVENDORS3[VENDORS]) C2 = descriptions on bank statements Lookup Vector = Lookup array Vendors = Return Array While my original formula works great - It contains a lookup + search function (LOOKUP(9.99E+307) + SEARCH(MASTERVENDORS3[Lookup Vector],C2) - frankly, I don't fully understand the way this formula is functioning- other than simply reusing it.
