    • @C0manso
      @C0manso 2 месяца назад +9

      @@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 Yeah I agree. From this video and what redbull called out with the fuel flow, I reckon it was a mix of both fuel flow scumming and ERS scumming. They were the only team with a split battery if I remember correctly, which I know was investigated numerous times and found legal. But they moved back to a traditional battery after the controversy in later years. In theory a split battery, much like phones do to get high wattage fast charging, would allow for better heat management already and thus making them more efficient at the lower operating temperatures. But I feel like maybe they were doing something else outside of the regs that the FIA didn't find til after.
      As for the fuel flow rate, they suddenly got slower after it was made public, and in Abu Dhabi while I will admit they weren't as good as Spa/Monza on their engine, they were a bit better than the other races we suspected they were nerfed. They were very weird with Leclercs car. They stated they had less fuel than they were carrying to the FIA and it was investigated.
      All speculation but it's fun to think about the possibilities.

    I don't even think the 2019 Ferrari's top speed is the wow factor here, it's more the acceleration, notice how Leclerc is up to 280 kph and Hamilton is only up to 265-270, that's a massive difference.

      @@pramitpratimdas8198 that's true, however despite that Leclerc still accelerates much faster than Hamilton. For example Hamilton's top speed is more by 7 kph, but by the time he reaches it, Leclerc has reached his top speed and thus pulled a big enough gap to keep himself ahead of Hamilton. In other words on the exit of the corner gap is 0.3-0.4s and at the middle of the straight it is around 0.6-0.7 and by the next corner its still 0.3-0.4, Hamilton being fast in the corners and the end of the straights, while Leclerc being faster during the start and middle of the straight

    • @DogEgg3000

      It wasn’t obvious at all, the fact that the true details of the agreement between the FIA and Ferrari that changed Ferraris engine for 2020 were always kept unclear because although the FIA believed it knew how Ferrari was cheating, it couldn’t prove it.
      In fact, as the FIA didn’t have a clue what it is was, Red Bull actually reversed engine a few possible ideas of how the Ferrari was doing this and presented its findings to the FIA saying “this is how we believe they could be doing it”, and after that the FIA approached Ferrari
      Was it cheating? Yes. Is cheating a part of the rich tapestry of motorsport? Absolutely

    • @aldobertorelli4906
      @aldobertorelli4906 Месяц назад +3

      @@DogEgg3000well it was not really cheating. It’s more like, what they call now, against the spirit of the rules. To cheat you must infringe written rules, what Ferrari did was using a loophole just like other teams have done with other things (DAS, flexi wings, flexi floors to name a few).
      In 2020 Fia prohibited to do what they were doing and from what I understood they went back to the 2017 engine, which, at that point, was 3 years behind in development

      Didnt they found a loop hole in the rulebooks, or even cheated a bit? I heard about an extra chamber were fuel got saved behind the sensors and released with a mode on the wheel. So the engine gets more fuel to burn in a certain time. I think if its true, that was illegal but FIA didnt want Ferrari to disqualify the whole season, so they had to use less engine power in 2020 or without this the engine was just shit😂.

  • @tmb8807
    @tmb8807 Месяц назад +6

    General consensus (albeit never conclusively proven) is that the trick Ferrari pulled in 2019 was to do with the ICE, not the ERS. Specifically, they were circumventing the fuel flow meter in one of two ways - either by creating electrical interference to alias the signal, or by aligning the frequency of the fuel pump to the sample rate of the meter, thereby allowing them to exceed the flow rate limit between readings. Either of these depended on the output of the meter being accessible to the team. In 2020 a second fuel flow meter whose output is only visible to the FIA was introduced, and we saw the results.

    it's quite interesting. Magnussen told danish tv later that year, that Haas didn't have a 'monza-spec wing'. They just had their normal 'medium-downforce' wing and then tried to change the angle of the wing- which clearly doesn't do much as basically the whole grid this year drove 340 without tow. So yeah. It's normal for a team to have Monaco-hungaroring spec wings and Monza-Vegas wings, but because og Haas' loss of money due to the Uralkali thing, they couldnt manufacture or design a low downforce wing. Even more interesting when we consider that Ferrari's engine in 2022 was pretty solid. And if u do not believe me, plz search it up. Haas monza 2022 and compare their wing with the wings of everybody else:)

    Why you keep saying "magic" dawg we all know it was illegal at the time. It was the texas gp of 2019 where we seen the disadvantage disappear because the extra fuel flow got removed.

    Schumacher has a tiny single flap low drag wing for high top speed. Hamilton choose a double flap medium drag wing. 20kph lower top speed, but better in the corners.

    This guy is wrong,because how he cant be drag speed if he caught him?
    The work is in ERS Mod actually
    Latifi and also Schumacher was in Overtake mod

    Using DRS in Monza as an argument is quite funny. What effect should a 1 mm wider gap for air passing through the rear wing have?
    DRS is only effective on tracks that need high downforce setups.

    Ferrari's magic was down to the fuel flow, not ERS deployment. Assuming we're talking about the grey area stuff when we say "Magic". Everyone who paid even a little bit of attention knows that Ferarri's ERS in the 2018 and 2019 cars was less potent but had more efficient deployment than Merc and therefore could deliver more power during a longer period of time than Mercedes which had more of a short burst if you will. Add the lowest drag on the grid by far to that and you get a car that needs to have its tyres dead in order to give up position on a track like Monza.

    In 2022 it was purely aero because "2022 merc engine was weak due to the new fuel".
    In 2011 it was also aero.
    But in 2019, it was all about engine. I wonder how merc won 8 races straight with record braking 5 1-2 with such shitbox.

    Goatifi’s braking point was at the previous turn. (Just a joke, obviously a low drag set up forces him to brake earlier).
