@8:48 Hi Toby. How are you bud? Yes, I'm watching this again. 🤷♂
Awesome stuff. Keep on representing the PNW
Thanks Monte!
The Colorado is looking amazing! Nerves of steel you two have cutting into your truck like that.
The scariest one was the snorkel in my opinion! 😅
@@JasonExplainsThings The first no going back cut always makes you check your gut for sure.
Awesome video, and so great of you to give Rich @ Exhausting Life a shout out. It’s true; his videos are top notch. Yours are too!
Rich is a great guy, had the pleasure of meeting him last year. And I've referenced his videos for lots of Colorado info. Thanks @exhaustinglife!
That looked like a ton of work all around. Final product looks great though... both the tires and the edit! Looking forward to the re-gear video
Such a cutie, you should add the puppy in the videos more.
Yeah I sneak Toby in as much as possible. He's my copilot.
Great video Jason and Chris. Saw Nate there briefly. Thanks
Great work. Still stand by my statement that Chris’s doppelgänger is Dave from Speed Academy
Mud flaps on any ZR2 are a must!
Great editing! Wish I had your skills!
Thanks Mike! It’s been my job for 21 years. You’re great on camera and explaining vehicles. The bummer with this and other videos is the amount of time they take to film and edit (sometimes weeks) for not much return on that time. But it’s what I love to do.
This was intense! I didn't realize it even involve cutting the pinch welds and sealing it back up with a reinforcement plate.
It's a really complete fitment kit. 👍
Looks awesome!! Working up the courage to do the same.
Well done lads, keep it up!
Great video! I just recently done this my self. I still used side marker extension wires to utilize the wire connectors AEV provides... in case you have to remove the flares down the road, you don't have to cut the wire and rewire again.
Very good point.
Great video. Really thorough job you guys do!
Awesome! I loved the look of those and priced them out, and wowza they expensive!! Love your truck!
Yeah this whole job was a long time in the making. It's a lot to bite off at once (fenders, tires, wheels, re-gearing).
@@JasonExplainsThings did not realize the cost and everything involved to switch to 35’s thanks for sharing it all!! I did spring for that trifecta tune with my stock zr2, it is nice!
Looks fantastic! Well done!
Looks sweet, nice work
Awesome!!!!
35's just look right on that truck. Great video guys :)
Thanks man!
Very well done video!
Great video! 👍
I don't own a ZR2, nor do I plan on owning one, but this video was very fun to watch and the end result looks great. nicely done gentlemen! I'll admit, I thought the ZR2 came from factory with the clearance to run 35's but boy was I wrong.
HA! Yeah, probably 32's are as big as you could go without cutting. This project was one of the more intense ones. It was shot over 4 days... and the last one being a marathon 9 am to 1:30 am the next day.
@@JasonExplainsThings It looked like a bunch of work. Adding 33's to my 4Runner was what I'd call mild compared to that. I'm looking to do 35's on the Runner soon, so I expect a similar adventure.
@@jason.hartson Woah! Yeah good luck. I'll likely not go bigger than 33's on either of my Toyotas.
@@JasonExplainsThings I have a buddy running 40's on his 4Runner (2017). It's a beast but took a lot of custom work to get it done.
Great vid!
Thing looks amazing!!!
Thank you!
Now to 37s!!! 😂 great work guys.
🤣
Great Videos , I feel like I’m just steps behind you and truly appreciate the details you include in these videos. Can’t wait to see the fuel lose and the rehearing and what that does for it. Biggest hold up for me was that part. Was thinking of the high fenders but just jumping up to 33’ and not fully the 35s. Again great videos keep up the great stuff guys
I know Chris considered 33’s as well. Yeah the regear video is coming along nicely. Will be done either Sunday or Monday.
@@JasonExplainsThings a few questions, 1 - what size tires are on your Tacoma ( it looks awesome ). 2 - what made him go with 35s over 33s . 3 - would you think 33s look to small or out of place with the high mark fenders installed ? And 4- you feel re-gearing would be needed if he did 33s ? Again love the Chanel and all the content thank you 🙏🏼 ( oh and lastly , you don’t happen to be of ambassador for AEV products 😏 )
@@4Primalbreed Jason's busy editing, most likely, so I'll answer for him 😊. I believe he's running 32" tires on the Tacoma (help me convince him to go 33s or bigger!).
I made the jump to 35s straight away, mainly because I knew I wanted to eventually, figured I'd seize the day, lol.
I've seen one Bison on 33s with Highmarks, and no, I don't think it looks too small, my main reason for going bigger was chasing ground clearance without adding a lift. And as a benefit, regearing is not nearly as necessary with 33s! Cheers and thanks for watching!
(No we're not ambassadors, per say, just love the stuff and have made some great friends over there, make sure and tell 'em we sent ya!)
As usual, another great video, and my shopping list keeps getting longer 🙂
Thanks, it's definitely an addiction 😅
Wow! That’s a lot of work! I’m considering this upgrade but don’t have a garage. Would you recommend it or let an AEV shop handle it?
I would not advice doing this unless you have the space and tools. Maybe a friend can help?
It was a pretty intense job and will take at least 2 full work days to complete.
How did the whole mud on the side of the truck thing go….did the flares and flaps help a lot, or is it still a thing?
Can confirm, it is much less of a thing!
Hey. 2023 CR2 comes with 3inch lift and 33 tyres. does it also required cutting and chopping to fit 35's? 🤔
We’d need to compare the new ZR2 and upcoming Bison to know.
Best video! But now I want to do the same...
Nice what’s the new gear Ratio for 35s
Here’s the video all about it:

Im asking because i have A 2021 zr2 Bison whit Diesel engine and maybe I will put 35s but whit the bds 4” lifte kit thanks.
Any ballpark figure for how much it would cost to have a shop do this instead of DIYing it?
I'd guess 15-20 hours of labor.
Oooof, no idea, but it'd be spendy.
What's the price for the old wheels and tires ?
They're sold! Chris offloaded them a few days before publishing.
@@JasonExplainsThings thanks for the reply.
@@gregsobek722 I have a set of the same bison wheels if you’re interested dm me with an offer
What is Chris going to do with the old fender flairs??
Sell them most likely. They’d work on a ZR2.
I would like to buy if possible if the price is right. They will fit the 2015-2022 Colorado Z71
@@phillipsheridan734 If I understand it correctly they would only work on a ZR2. The Z71 has a different front bumper. But you can reach out to Chris on Instagram.
I’m getting the AEV front bumper for my Z71. When I’m done with all the mods I will have a 16 Z71 Bison
@@phillipsheridan734ok… yeah I’d just double check on their website. 👍
Harbor Freight center punches suck donkeys. Starrett or General are good! Don't ask me how I know....:-)
🤣 I’m not sure where I got it. Got a Tekton one recently and it’s been great.
🤣 I’m not sure where I got it. Got a Tekton one recently and it’s been great.
It wont fit. I'll make it fit! Thats what he said.
I want to go 33’s on mine but I’m concerned it’ll void the GM warranty. Any insight?
Don't be concerned! Never surrender! Lol.
In all honesty, GM (your dealer) would have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that your tires or modification are the cause of whatever issue you may have, which would be a tall order. Have fun with it!
DO YOU UNderSTaND?!?
😂 If you say that at the gym I'll probably laugh and drop the weight directly on my neck.
@@JasonExplainsThings 😂😂😂
Really enjoy all you videos all the time but please can you stop using butt connections the small amount of time to solder it and use a heat shrink with a silicone infused one will give you better durability and longevity on the wiring
