    Please be careful and make sure you use gloves when moving your pampas grass. It's difficult to get away unscathed when working with them without gloves! Thanks for watching

    John Lord’s Garden, I love your videos, especially your method for deadheading roses 😃. With regards to Pampas Grass, you transplanted yours in front of the other plants. Won’t the Pampas take over and block the other plants from view? I would love to plant some but am so afraid it will go rogue 😊

    What type, or genus, was the variegated green and white leaved tree that I think you called "dogwood" is? Where I am from there are several different types of dogwood trees, but I have never seen one with those variegated leaves! I just found your channel! I have a new favorite!!

    • @michellezee651
      @michellezee651 3 года назад

      its a variegated red twig dogwood shrub. after the leaves drop in the fall, they'll have bright red branches throughout the winter. 🌿

    John what about the root system of pampas grass they say is it bad for underground pipes etc?

    • @johnlordssecretgarden
      @johnlordssecretgarden  7 месяцев назад +1

      It doesn’t have a woody root system but rather a very fibrous one which is unlikely to damage pipe work

    Thanks so much for your amazing wisdom!!! I love this and have learned so much from your videos! After three long years of hard work and much joy, I’ve just finished my beautiful perennial garden and learned we are moving to a new home 10 minutes away! It’s great but heartbreaking because we aren’t moving until December and I wish I could uproot everything, place them in pots and move to new location. But, I’m afraid ground will be too frozen and I’ll ruin them. Not even sure if they will survive in containers. I could order a ton of soil for new property and create a mound to place them in. Maybe? If you’ve got some tips, would love to hear them. I have many hydrangeas, autumn joy sedums, lavenders, Catmint, black eyed Susans, and so much more 😩

    • @johnlordssecretgarden
      @johnlordssecretgarden  6 лет назад +2

      I wouldn't bother with the lavenders, but with the others you have listed you could definitely transplant them. You will need to dig them up and put them into containers before the ground is frozen. They are dormant in winter so they should be ok in containers provided they aren't given too much water.

    • @mygalmo
      @mygalmo 6 лет назад

      John Lord's Garden thank you! Much appreciated! Should I wait for the first hard freeze to dig them up and transfer to pots. I’ve got at least 60 different species of plants but certainly won’t be taking all of them.

    • @pansepot1490
      @pansepot1490 6 лет назад +1

      mygalmo, If I was you I would start now. Plants are already dormant so no point in waiting for frost, especially if you have a lot of them. I would keep the pots in a position somewhat sheltered (because I reckon plants in pots and recently transplanted are more sensitive to frost damage) and plant them in the new location at the end of winter/early spring when the temperature begins to warm up. Cheers and good luck!🍀

    • @LFN7
      @LFN7 6 лет назад +1

      roots should survive in pots in the garage or protected area till spring...Maybe just the most love ones so no regret later..

    • @mygalmo
      @mygalmo 6 лет назад

      Pat Pezzi thank you! I’m in the states in Indiana. Temps are cooler and all perennials are still robust, including several of my rose bushes and miniature lilacs that I just planted in June. I’ve got all 50 of my containers ready for transplants, just hoping for a miracle that everything survives through winter. 4-1/2 months can’t come soon enough. Thanks again!
