As a Springfield native (who has come back) it was fun seeing my hometown through your eyes. And you barely scratched the surface. And as you were looking at the signs i was hoping you went to see the neon at the fairgrounds. The camera didnt do it justice.
We took route 66 this year, we took our town and visit many states but I wanted to go to Utah , it's beautiful, you have the snow on top of the mountains. The Northeast of United States beautiful on the first of October. Foliage. This year just on vacation, we visited 14 States. We have 4 more States, then we have seen. all of the USA.
Another fun video! I was born and raised in Central Illinois, and Springfield was the "big city". Some of our family still live in the area, so we visit regularly, but you guys showed me a couple of places I'm not familiar with! I see in the comments you are doing Route 66 in reverse (can't wait to watch those videos!) and when you get back to Springfield, you HAVE to go to D'Arcy's for a horseshoe! It's a Springfield "thing". Get the spicy cheese sauce and enjoy a beer - you'll thank me later.
So close, we are in Decatur, 40 miles from Springfield! When you do the full Rt 66 trip, be sure to set aside time to go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and his tomb. Thank you for allowing us to tag along. Safe travels!
We did Springfield for our Birthday's this past spring (Mine and my wife's birthdays are 1 day apart) and we really enjoyed it. Did the Lincoln Home tour, the Presidential Library, and right down the street was Obeds!. So glad to see you both enjoyed it like we did.
I have sure enjoyed your Great Lakes series. I haven’t been there and I was so surprised at how beautiful it is. Keep those good videos coming and have a great time.
I did route 66 from Chicago to just past Springfield in the Summer of 2022. We took pictures with all the odd things, like the giant ketsup bottle, the huge wagon with Lincoln on it, the Michelin guy that was holding a flag instead of a muffler, and had corn dogs at the drive in.
@@anewlifeinthevan I live just outside Chicago, and we only took 5 days. My 22 year old son wants to do the whole Route 66 too. Maybe next summer or '25.
@@pattyolson3842hope you can, we're going to take around 6 weeks, we're on an American adventure from England, my husband Gary left the Army after 39 years and we've been travelling since March, absolutely loving America ❤
Once again a great travel video. I love your openess to try some places that may not seem mainstream tourist places or seem kind of blah, but then surprise you with their value and unique blasts of the past that you can later treasure and share.
Yes!! Finally made it to my home state!! Welcome!! We're a super warm friendly helpful bunch. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Get your kicks on route 66!! We also have the best food!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's so very cool to see Route 66. So much travel that you have done. I still can't talk as it's been going on 3 weeks. Strange not to talk. The hospital delayed giving me the proper medication. Have a wonderful time traveling. Cheers.!
You were my 1st vlogg couple. You walked from the Puerto Plata port to a little beach about a mile and 1/2 from port. I said I'm gonna do that! And I did! Now watching you discover Route 66, it's like I'm seeing it for the 1st time! I did the Chicago to California when I moved to California. Loved it! And I loved watching you love it.
Magical unicorn is the best day actually because their machine broke down over the summer that brewed it and it was so popular. He bought a more expensive one to make it quicker. It is my absolute favorite that brewery is so awesome it’s one of my favorites and they have phenomenal food, there were a few others to in Springville that should’ve been checked out like anvil in Forge. Buzz bomb brewery. There’s a lot of good ones.
have no doubt you came pass my region, on highway 55/70 , 44 , 40 towards Oklahoma , Texas , New Mexico, Arizona, California , we took this route this year. It' was beauiful drive , looking at different landscape. Always seeing something different . The cities I liked Santa Fe , Mexico , Flagstaff, Arizona, the 4 Corners ( Southwestern corner of Colorado, southeastern corner of Utah, northeastern corner of Arizona, and northwestern corner of New Mexico. We bypass Las Vegas so we could visit Utah ( one of my favorite states ), and after that went back to down to Las Vegas to get back towards Santa Monica California.
Really enjoyed this guys, we've just started Route 66 but in reverse, we're doing it from LA to Chicago in our British motorhome!! We'll take our time but some good tips for Springfield, thank you 💕
Springfield, IL not far away, one of these days , we need to visit there. *There's a lot to see in Illinois, just like all the States in The USA* . The United States has a lot of mazing places to visit , this year alone, we have visited 14 States , we are not long term travelers, we just go on vacation like we did twice this year. While traveling to these states, I visit "year round Christmas stores" we do a lot on our vacations, busy daily.
Looks like you got your kicks! My favorite breakfast spot is on Route 66 in California. It’s called Flappy Jacks and is VERY popular. Keep the great content coming! 😉
Too bad you didn't get to visit Lincoln's tomb while in Springfield. Also, if ever visiting over Labor Day holiday weekend, swing back by the state fairgrounds and watch the American Flat Track motorcycle races. Fastest mile dirt track in the world.
Not a real Route 66 joint but one of the many knock offs trading in the road's status and fame across the world. Springfield was a large Route 66 town from the start and there are many real Route places around the city as well. Until the 90s or so you could actually go there and meet the owners, some were even still in business and were doing their original thing. Places like the Pig Hip, The Dixie, Funks Grove, the Shell Station, Shea Service and the famous Cozy Dog and many others are still around in some form today. I think what you're seeing here is a 66 themed place but not a real Route spot, so take it as you will. I don't think you'd see Bob Waltmire or Tom Snyder ever in there. It's fun to get out on the real Route 66, drive it and see what it was, to a point, back when it was the main road.
PLEASE...DO ROUTE 66!! It's our dream to do it. We need a preview!
As a Springfield native (who has come back) it was fun seeing my hometown through your eyes. And you barely scratched the surface. And as you were looking at the signs i was hoping you went to see the neon at the fairgrounds. The camera didnt do it justice.

Good job, guys. Great editing, choice of music, and on-point B-roll all lead to cohesive storytelling. The video holds interest from beginning to end.

Hi I have a question why is route 66 so populer?
Route 66 is the "Mother Road". It took travelers from Chicago to California back in the day before there were any freeways.
@@loreleir5087 O wow that sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing that with me appreciate.
It's so iconic 😍 We're English and have always wanted to do it, we're doing it right now and loving it 😍
Boooooo not the sellout ads… bummer that makes me sad. And then hit by a RUclips ad right after… just great
