As for the salmon carcasses the bear was eating. Those are NOT our fish. That’s a common place for guides to clean fish and the young bears go there searching for salmon carcasses. The guides never feed the bears because the bears will then start expecting food from the fisherman and become a serious danger to us and themselves! I can understand that it looks like we fed the bears but I will swear on my name that’s NOT our fish! They are finding random carcasses…

As a long time salmon and trout fisherman here in U.K. my bucket list wish was to fish the Kenai River ( no all too real as I have terminal cancer ) but you ask what would be good to see you do
I’d like to see you fly fish for trophy salmon up there in Alaska or fly fish for marlin, swordfish , mahi etc back at home - Frank

Robert, I took my son on this very same trip a few years ago. For most of the trip he was face first into his phone but while there, we layed down on the bow of the boat and he looked at me and stated this was the coolest thing ever. That is a memory I will never forget. Wish I could post a photo that I call spaghetti bear that I took while there. Brown bear swallowing a salmon like a string of spaghetti with just the tail sticking out of his mouth. It is so wonderful that you can bring your family along on your adventures because they will have memories that last their whole lives.

My dad was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska when he was in the Coast Guard. He told me stories about the fishing there. We talked about taking a trip so I could try to catch some fish......but he passed before we could do that. Love your videos of Alaska, it's letting me see somethings he might have seen while there. I'm sure a lot has changed though. Love seeing your little girl get so excited when she hooks a fish.

I am 67 and I’ve been to Alaska twice in the last 5 years. Once in December and once in June. I’ve been ice fishing, snowmobile riding, been to Chena Hot Springs and dog sledding in the wintertime. I’ve camped inside the attic circle, flew over Denali and landed on a glacier and fished for halibut 25 miles out from Homer in the summertime. My two favorites were dogsledding and fishing for halibut at Homer in that order. If I had a chance to live all over again I would have moved to Alaska 45 years ago. We love your channel so very much!

Rob best video from the Big Roll so far I think. And Sarah amazing pictures also. As for something I'd love to do in Alaska. Brother I told you before I lived there for 8 years. I've actually got to do everything that I could have done and more while living there. I even came back to the lower 48 with what we thought were malumute puppies. But my brothers friend thought it would be funny to send us back with what ended up being 2 actual wolf cubs. So if you are thinking about coming back with a husky or malumute to the lower 48 with either make sure that you make sure that it's a actual husky or malumute lol. Some sled dog racers inbreeding there dogs with wolves for a more powerful animal for pulling the sleds. Even though we never have had any problems in the past 45 years I've worked with wolves and wolf hybrids. But this was a totally amazing video. Love see your girls enjoying nature and once again Sarah totally amazing pictures. Best video of the series so far. Actually they have all been awesome. Keep them coming and God bless you Sarah the girls and your crew. Stay safe and safe travels on the Big Roll.

My step dad is an avid big game hunter as im typing rhis he killed a red stag in new zeland today and my mom got a huge fallow deer!. But he is turning 70 in 2023 and wanted to take me on a hunt because he is getting old and wants to share the experience with me before he can no longer do it. I chose alaska because of these videos. We are going to do a moose hunt and after we bag our moose we hope to do a bunch of fishing. Thanks robert for the videos. I have been to Alaska many times because of my son-in-law being stationed there three different times. The Russian River is a great place to fish for red salmon because you need shallow water with lots of current throwing up stream near the bank allowing a hair jig with 1/2 ounce weight to tap the bottom. Only use around 10’ of line and use like a fly line never using bail constantly throwing at 3:00 drifting to 9:00. You will feel them moving up stream taking slack line, set the hook, FISH ON! You and your family are an amazing Christian example to nature lovers like myself! God bless!

I've read that during salmon spawning season and right before bear hibernation , bears are known to eat the belly out of salmon because that's where the eggs are , and the eggs have the highest fat content. So when salmon are trying to jump upstream over rocks and they are literally everywhere , it's easy pickings for the bear . I've seen video of them grabbing a fish , chomping the belly out and throwing the rest away to catch another and another and do the same thing , all to get fat for hibernation .

My number 1 thing would be something you've done so much up there. I absolutely love salmon and would love to go through the catch clean cook steps myself.

Grew up in Southeast Alaska! Sockeye is my favorite Salmon. Baked, dried, fried, smoked and pressure cooked. Used to work for the Forest Service on the trail crew in the Summers in brown bear country. Pack creek on Admiralty Island is the highlight of a summer trip. Always maintained our distance and never once had to put a bear down.
My flying days are over though. Not one year goes by without a plane going down. Had my fair share of rough rides.

I have always wanted to go up and see the glacier melt during the start of spring! There is a ship cruise that does it! While I was little my gma taught me that when you're cooking the acronym "kiss" keep it simple stupid but not only in cooking but now in live I still use it!

Håfa ådai. My #1 thing in Alaska..... Years ago, Larry Csonka had a show based in Alaska, and I will never forget a guy on there saying he wanted to catch a Halibut as big as he was. And he did. Since that day, I have always wanted to catch a Halibut. Even if it is not as big as I am. And if I could do that with my friend JD from Saipan, that would make it epic. Si Yu'us un binendise

It is such a pleasure to watch you and your family in all these videos. I can always count on good content while watching DEER MEAT FOR DINNER. Every sense I was a youngster I've dreamed of going on an Alaska Moose hunt and brown bear hunt.

I have been to Alaska just once two things have come to mind for my bucket list. 1. Visiting a working cold claim, if permissible, and 2. Riding on a snow crab boat to see the crabbing in person, once again if permissible. At 70 now I dare say this will never happen but perhaps the viewers might get a big kick out of it.

as a brand new hunter and going after upland birds first and foremost, id definitely start off my alaska trip chasing sooty and dusky grouse. 2nd place would be grayling fishing, never done that. then 3rd would be salmon fishing.

We did a Alaska trip in 2013. We stayed a few days in Gusdavis and there was a lady that let my girls ride along with her dog sled team. My girls still talk about that day.

Aria is following you as an outdoors woman. You can see it in her action fishing, talking about the salmon then as she put her hand out to shake with guide hand. You are teaching her good.
So glad Sarah got to see the bears and get some good pics. Did you guys see any whales on the trip. I would just like you guys did. This got me wanting to go fishing in Alaska.

After Aria offered her hand, It would have been so disappointing if he would have not noticed and ignored it. One of the most awesome moments in all of your videos i have watched. Love Y'all. God Bless.

Hey man I just want to thank you for everything you do, from catching, fishing, hunting, etc. you're always teaching and showing us the best the ways to go about things, and that goes for being a father too. You've set a great example for how men are suppose to act and treat one another human beings, and for us young men/boys that didn't grow up with a father figure or didn't have a good one to look up to, we have you as an example to follow and I thank you for that from the best parts of my heart and soul, I wish you and your beautiful family lots of love and nothing but the best for y'all, and thank you for being one of the best figures I've got to look up and continue to look up to.
