@@wixy6638 I can't do that. I already returned all of the monitors. I don't keep them sadly because I'm not sponsored since I'm still a small channel. :(
HDR 400 is a certification that implies / specifies that the monitor can interpret an HDR signal and you can expect the monitor to display a peak brightness of 400 nits. HDR content such as HDR movies and television are mastered at 1000 nits and require a display capable of reaching at least near that 1000 nits to properly display the content as it was mastered. the HDR 400 display will have a higher peak brightness than and SDR display so it is able to achieve a more HDR effect than an SDR display and does remap the HDR data to its lower peak brightness. It cant be considered full HDR however due to the fact that it cant display the content as mastered.
Dude how have you not blown up yet? I've been searching for a new monitor for a week now. Your channel really helped me! I'm getting the monitor xl2546s that was announced yesterday.
lol i'm ultrawide ips user myself was thinking about getting a monitor for my fps games and i feel like this video was just made for me haha, i went for the BenQ thanks to you
@@BijanJamshidi Congrats for your video! Such a nice presentation of these IPS monitors and Zowie one, keep like that, ill suscribe! Best regards from Peru! What about the Alienware AW2521HF and the MSI OPTIX MAG251RX :) I would be interesting if you compare them to Zowie.
This rona, fucking up my gaming, so what i put on 5 pounds of muscle, and lost 10 pounds, if i can't game on ips 240 hertz top quality monitor whats the point of living.
I've gone from an Acer Predator 27" 1440p, 165hz TN monitor, to the new Alienware AW2521HF 25" 1080p 240hz IPS monitor and I'm very happy that I did. Extra refresh rate, better colours, same response time and only slightly reduced pixel density.
elmb is actually insanely impressive on my asus 280hz. It does make everything a tad darker, but on certain games is makes a huge difference. On games like Siege, I prefer having elmb turned off, however on Warzone, and some other titles, I just amp the brightness up with elmb on. It makes a huge difference. Also. if your PC can put out 240+ fps in most games, the 280hz overclock makes things very buttery. The only issue I have with the monitor at all, is the preset buttons on the side. I wish you could just save all settings on the monitor as a preset with those buttons, and then this monitor would be in a whole other tier. But a big thing to mention, my friend has a zowie and we compared our monitors, and now he is waiting every day to find the asus 279 ips because he likes it a lot more. The only reason to get the zowie is if you are a pro player in a game and want that 0.2% advantage it gives with its lighting, as well as being able to switch presets the best and quickest. But for overall experience from watching videos, video editing, workflow, and anything non-gaming related, I'd go so far the Asus is much better than the zowie. Also many pros play on 27'' IPS monitors. Aceez on Rogue in Rainbow six pro scene is considered a top 5 player in the world currently, and he plays on 27" IPS for example. It is all personal preference. Guys like Shaiiko play on 24" and have their face 2-3 imches away from the monitor for gaming. But most people play a foot or so away, and at that length the difference between 24.5" and 27" monitors is miniscule.
I own an acer 240hz TN Panel monitor and their black and white handling is really bad. the screen is also too bright for me, and I think I'll go to the asus IPS panel keep going dude , like the way you explain it. great job 👍
Can't believe the Zowie just hard stomped all of these competitive monitors lol. It means, it is so good that no one can beat it hahah. And also, this review is freaking good. You got my sub ez af.
Nice review, but you compared the builded game settings inside OSD, I believe everyone know that you need calibrate the monitor, for example I got the Asus, the VG259QM, because I like more 24,5 inch for 1080p than version of 27 inch. I actually bought the Zowie BenQ = XL2540 and If I compared it with the asus I instantly throw it away due to grey colors I saw, no black = just grey, the Motion blur is only a little bit better on Zowie compare to asus, with ELMB its even better imo. Colors are 2-3x better vs TN, so you can actually see difference, UNLESS you are used to the TN colors. I mean, yes the Asus IPS panel doesnt have the best IPS colors compare to other panels, but still its so good compare to TN panels. Just sit on IPS panels for one week and then back to the TN, you will want your ips back, esspecially it is similar fast to the TN, fastIPS panels are upgrade for any TN Panel, and they are even faster than some TN, due to input lag and response time (the asus is the fastest ips panel in response time of any ips panels before) - 3.6 ms vs 3.3 ms (zowie) For gaming I use my customized settings by myself (Because ofc fps mode its just the random selection for not every game) I do play Cod MW tho but this settings I come from is best for almost every game. 1) FPS Mode, Shadow boost = 3, maybe 2 (depends of the map) but I get used to 3, Brightness = 70 (because IPS is brightness enough anyway even with the Shadow boost), Contrast 70, Vivid Pixel = 75 (if there is a lot of grass), if dont = 100, Saturation = 50 (The asus Panel is already a lot of saturated compare to my previous TN panel), Color Temp -> User Mode = 98 Red, Green = 99, Blue = 97, Overdrive 60 = best balance, unless you play above 200 fps = 80. ELMB depends of the fps, but actually its the better feature than before, because the screen its more brightness than in any previous feature like that, its big + for that, and actually with 200+ fps and elmb this is better than any TN panel due to best colors For my desktop (takes me 5 sec to change it) 1) Racing Mode, Shadow boost = 0, Brightness 50 (sometimes I lower it depends of the day), Contrast = 73, Vivid pixel ofc = 0 m(its only good for gamings, its like Super resolution feature in my LG 144hz TN), Color Temp I use from tfr central (www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_tuf_gaming_vg279qm.htm#calibration) but i like blue on my desktop so i Keep it higher, Red = 98. Green = 99, Blue = 98. In my opinion fast IPS 240hz Panels are worth to go, it can be universal monitor for gaming and for watching movies. But you need to know if you can get a lot of fps tho. That is why I consider to wait for the MSI MAG251RX, which is very similar to Asus, even better with the colors + fastest a little bit, esspecialy if we have fps bellow 180, but Asus is better with 200+ fps and due to ELMB. One guy just told me that I will don't see difference actually in response time, its actually like 0.5ms.
yeah i was saying the same thing like... dude you didn't calibrate the monitor of course the default settings are gonna be ass. And of course the Zowie is gonna have better presets it's why you pay the premium because it's made for lazy people they already calibrate their presets while most other brands don't. However I disagree with you that IPS panels are upgrades. The new .5ms TN panels reproduce 99%-100% sRGB putting them on part color wise with the current gen 240hz IPS panels. It'll probably taken another generation of IPS panels to finally start beating the TNs. Also it's unfortunate but lot of monitor reviews don't actually review the monitor with actual testing and the few that do like to stick to certain brands and avoid others so if he actually did some more in depth testing with bleed you would see the IPS panels all have inverse ghosting at 240hz no matter what over drive you use. Even the best 240hz IPS still has an average error rate of like 10%. So it's not perfect especially since most of the ghosting occurs around the center of the screen instead of edges and it is super noticeable in game. Also kinda un fair to compare 24 inch 1080 and 27 1080 because the lack of pixels makes a big difference and honestly you're just dumb if you get a 27 inch 1080p monitor idk why they even bother making them it looks like ass.
@@feeblemind thank you for you reply, im not expert of course, the opinion was subjective. I have tested VG259QM and then I bought VG279QM. But... the "problem" is that I always had 144hz TN before, for even 4 years, the fun fact is that this TN had 8,3ms input lag (yea!) and response time around 5ms, but i didn't care about it, i didn't even know how many ms it does have.. Anyway after these 2x IPS i have tested, obv the motion blur is worse compare to TN, even the MAG251rx with his insane response time 3,1ms g2g has worse motion clarity, sharp of the ufo's at the ufotest site. I bought 2 days ago Acer Nitro XF252QX and I fall in love in that how motion blur looks like compare to 240Hz Asus (IPS). and now the question is that... The only advantage of the asus is 0.3ms input lag (Estimated Signal Processing Lag), vs Acer Lag 2.0 ms, one guy told me that he moved from this acer to asus vg259qm, and he is playing better in cs go, due to less input lag, but can the human see difference in 1,7ms? Whats your opinion about this Acer? also it has VBR (BFI) with flicker free and the motion clarity, is even better, like 2,5x better, even tho it adds input lag, its still at 4,6ms, does it big deal for competive gamers? I play Cod MW Multiplayer. I really like motion clarity more on Acer nitro than on the vg279qm or vg259qm, but the qustion is... does it motion blur which obv i see in ufo test, is visible in games?
thanks for the comment. I’ll be receiving the Alienware 240Hz IPS Monitor today to test and review and I also purchase a SpyderX Elite & i1 DisplayPro. I’ll be returning whichever colorimeter isn’t as good and keep the other for reviews. I agree it should be calibrated for the best results for this video and I didn’t recognize how critical that was at the time. However to be fair, almost no one who’s buying these monitors will have a colorimeter or will get theirs professionally calibrated so I think it’s a point to take away as well. But now I’ll be comparing my own calibration by eyes (which most people will do) as well as a professional calibration with the colorimeter I purchased so most people can make the best decision in the future. Thanks for your comment!
Hi, outstanding review 👍 It clarify me concepts and options for my new monitors, that I researching. I have 2 x HP Pavilion 23xi, that I want to retire, although one of them will get a VESA mount from HumanCentric, and plan to convert it for vertical browsing. I will subscribe and see the rest of your videos. Keep going and stay safe!! 🤞
well the zowie been as the go to esport monitor for most of the fps scenes for a reason . I have one and I wouldn't trade it for another different monitor . Also, why is this guy got so low views count he deserve so much more with the contents he put in this video !
its horrible!! lol I recently bought a msi gs66 stealth with a ips 300hz monitor and I couldn't believe how bad the TN looked on the Benq Im currently looking to buy an IPS monitor because the picture on the benq is horrible lol
Keep in mind that cameras and recording devices ALSO have color limitations, which is why you can't see how bad TN monitors really are in this video. :P
I know it's been over a year since you made this video. I want to thank you for taking the time to research and review these monitors. I think I have enough to make my decision.
So basically: if you are competitive and want faster response times sacrificing some color get the zowie. If you care more about the picture quality get the ASUS, and don’t get the lg or the Acer it’s not any better and it’s more expensive.
Thank you! I do agree. I tried making the volume higher without introducing noise, however I’m not successful. I looking for new ways to increase the volume without compromising audio quality.
it's strange that the acer one is only 300 usd in my region, asus cost around 330 usd and zowie cost around 510 usd. Which is why i bought the acer one, didnt regret, i never use a tn panel before but i used to own a 60hz ips from dell, going form 60 to 240 is insane.
I like the zowie 240hz monitor that comes with two wings on the left and right side of monitor. They're like the best mouse bungee i've ever used lol. I stick the wire in the corner of the right wing and it just stick perfectly..
Coming from a sweaty Apex and Val player. The 24 inch version of the Asus is gaming heaven. I bought the Benq and the Asus at the same time. Asus has better colors by far, viewing angle, no difference in input lag, g-sync (yeah it's actually good despite what you think because some pro who plays on black bars said otherwise), and the ELMB is amazing. I don't know how bright people need their monitors to be.. But I can see people in dark corners in apex with it on, so idk what the complaint there is. 10000% suggest the Asus over the Benq.
im only about 1 minute and 30 seconds in and HELL YEAH MAN. this is what i wanted some good explanation & real experience. fuck yes props to you bro ! never quit youtube
I have an XL2540, an XL2740, and just got the Asus 280hz monitor, and I’ve gotta say, the Asus is amazing compared to my Zowies. I actually just RMA’d it because of a dead pixel (unlucky). But after playing on it in FPS mode for a few days, and then coming back and playing on the xl2540, the difference is insane. The xl2540, even with the color vibrance all the way up, appears soooo bland compared to the IPS. Regardless of what color accuracy tests pull, these IPS panels are still going to appear better than the TN panels. The majority of people looking at these high refresh rate IPS panels aren’t going to be so critical of the small details here and there. It’s mainly about just getting a high refresh rate monitor that looks good.
Thanks for the comparison. There is a guy wrote that " Asus VG279QM has 30 ms input lag" is it true ? I've read many reviews from Ratings.net, pcmonitors.info and i didn't see something like that.
@@MrShoniBare it's true, when you limit the panel to 60Hz refresh rate. Apparently a display driver bug that ASUS should fix with a (Downloadable) driver update.
HDR10 doesn't actually mean much of anything, just like HDR10+, etc. They're just formats in which HDR info is contained. What *does* mean something are the VESA HDR display specifications, namely VESA HDR 400, 600 & 1000. The bottom of the barrel HDR 400 is pretty much SDR that can interpret HDR info, usually denoted as HDR10 on these not very HDR capable monitors, seemingly to confuse people into thinking it must be good or something because of the "10" (I honestly don't know why they do it), IIRC all of these are HDR 400 (edgelit, no FALD), they also don't do more then 400 nits peak brightness so any highlights or dark detail is practically lost. From VESA HDR 600 onwards you actually get to perceive HDR content in a meaningful way.
Thank you for this review! Been searching for a gaming monitor for 3 days straight! I will be getting BenQ Zowie XL2546k thank to your review! Keep up the great work!
As a someone who's not very tech savvy, I'd like to know whether if the difference of response time by 1-5 ms is noticeable? Furthermore, I understand that the Zowie is still king but is the difference between the Zowie and something else that noticeable? My preferred monitor would be a 240hz monitor with focus on content consumption with competitive capabilities as I do like playing competitive FPS games but at the same time I also enjoy visually stunning RPG games (Witcher 3 and so on) and like to watch movies. Really love the amount of detail put into the video and your responsiveness to the community, keep up the great work!
Thank you for this vid. Plan to sell my xl2546 to get 240hz ips but this video made me realize that zowie xl2546 is still the best in gaming, low motion blur. Thanks mate!
Just bought an LG 27GL850 this seems like a mistake for a competitive sweat like me ?? My friend and I were having this convo as well regarding 1440p 144hz IPS vs 1440p 240hz TN. Wish I saw this video as I've seen varying opinions on the Internet and settled for what I consider an all rounder. Brilliant channel and hope to see you grow.
Great vid man. I was planning to get 240hz monitor and did lots of research. Came finally to a conclusion that the new zowie XL2546 s which is coming out in about 2 months is the best option. It got 0.5 ms and Dyac+
Dude, your videos a super Quality bro, and you know your stuff. I'm subscribing to your channel. Thanks for the videos. This one makes my choice a lot easier since I'm looking for a new monitor.
I’ve had two BenQ Zowie monitors. The latest was the XL2546. I really loved the XL2546. Yeah it’s a TN panel but the colors are GOOD for an TN panel. I also love that it’s 24/25”. I’d love it more if it was like 22”. Now I have the LG 27GL850. It’s a 144hz 1440p monitor, it’s very nice and the colors are beautiful but I do miss the 240hz on 25”. I guess I just need 2 monitors.
Bijan Jamshidi I have my eye on the Dell Alienware AW2521HF at the moment. I hope BenQ/Zowie come up with their version of 1080p IPS 240hz. I’m not that picky when it comes to Monitors.
@@BijanJamshidi hi, I really enjoy your videos and I wanted to ask a question since I am currently looking for a new monitor. So far, I am conflicted between getting the ASUS Tuf Gaming Vg279Qm and the BenQ Zowie XL2546K. The BenQ has really impressive motion clarity but the ASUS has performance in its favor. What would you recommend?
1 fact why reviews like this doesn't matter when comparing monitor display is because we have different monitors while viewing this. But the verbal review is always a great source of info. I'm watching this using my ASUS VG278QR on full custom mode. Tip: 1. TN panel like BenQ Zowie XL2540 for GAMING is best. 2. IPS with 60Hz are far the best for CONTENT CREATORS, especially the BenQ SW271.
went from vg279qm to the xl2546k, no complaints, colors were definitely horrible right out the box especially since i went from ips to tn, after tweaking some stuff in the settings, the colors definetely are much better now.
I have the 25” version of the Asus and I love it! Gaming is fantastic and I actually really like the controls. I learned to make adjustments very fast and don’t dislike it at all. I appreciate the time you took to make this. Liked/subbed! :-)
I own the Benq xl2420g 1080p 144hz, and Acer 1080p 240hz and and Acer 1440p 165hz. All TN panels. The colour reproduction on all of them is excellent. I’ve tried VA and ips panels and and returned or sold them all on. I’ve also had crap cheaper TN panels and excellent cheap TN panels. I really hope TN remains a screen tech in years to come.
The problem with the 240hz Zowie even in late 2020 is that it doesn't have Gsync. It would be the best choice for gaming monitor if it did over other 240hz TN's, but it's a deal breaker. And I'm not sold in the slightest on "fast IPS" in a gaming monitor, even at the upcoming 360hz. I'm not sure why manufacturers insist on forcing IPS on competitive gamers.
The reason why it doesn’t (Although I think it has free sync) is most likely because Zowies are geared towards esports players and esports players don’t care about adaptive sync technology since it adds more input lag. Any more input lag than necessary is a no for pros.
@@BijanJamshidi According to what I've read on Blur Busters, G-Sync will only have more input lag if frame rates that are 2x 240fps (at 240hz) can be sustained, but if the frame rate remains below the 240hz frame window (237, 238 etc) there's no added input lag. I play stuff that I can't push passed 240fps, so G-Sync would be useful in that case to prevent stuttering when the frames suddenly drop. we're suppose to set an FPS limit at 237-238 for 240hz. If you wanna check it out: blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/3/
Dude, I love your demeanor, speech and break downs. You do this very well. But IMO this particular comparison is inadvertently skewed. Comparing 25" 1920x1080 monitors against 27" 1920x1080 monitors is not apples to apples. At 27" 1920x1080 will not look as good as 25" at 1920x1080. You should compare the 25" ips monitors against that Zowie. And add the MSI Optic MAG251 RX in there. Then tell us what you think.
Thank you very much! Unfortunately, the monitors that I’ve tested in this video seem to only have 27 inch variance. I’m also working on another IPS monitor comparison video with monitors that also include one size variance, so no choice there. But I’m also adding more to that test and working on making them better. I also ordered the MSI MAG251RX however a day before shipping I was told I purchased an oversold item and was refunded. 😢
@@BijanJamshidi Oh man, I should have known just at the way you handle yourself you'd be on top of that ! Guess I'm preaching to the choir here - lol. Well keep us posted then. And yea, I've noticed everywhere literally all of the new ips 240hz monitors are back ordered. Totally bummer. The other unmentioned variable here is different personal taste in what the viewer gravitates to, and also simply being used to something for years, therefore thinking its better when the viewer sees it. For instance, you ever get your 4k TV professionally calibrated (and not by geek squad or an goofy place like that, I mean real deal notable calibrater in the industry) for the first time ever, and after calibration you say.. what ? this looks worse, its too dark, too muted looking..etc.. ? Well that's cause you haven't been use to the real intended way the source should look. And we been used to something technically wrong. Once you get used to it though, you can never go back. Seeing them overly bright bloomy blacks and cartoony exaggerated colors overly saturated, etc.. that you used to gravitate to and like, soon they become a juvenile past opinion. For me, its all about BLACKS baby. I hate the way TN's display blacks. But that's cause I got introduced to reality (lol) by a calibrator. Point being, is, it is sometimes just in the eye of the beholder. But same time, there is a technical industry standard (creator's intended look) and most are simply not used to it. And not to sound rude, but they should all get used to it asap ! haha :-P
I appreciate the feedback. I did notice that when I rewatched the finished video that I thought to myself "Well I mean... I've been using it that way for years, soooo." So I'm always trying to remind myself to be completely objective for every video I write a script for. I did purchase a i1 DisplayPro as well as a Datacolor SpyderX for calibrating my monitors for future reviews. I'll see which has the best software and calibration and return the less impressive one. As well as trying to do more for this next video test without putting any of my subjective thoughts in there. Again, I really do appreciate the support. :)
@@BijanJamshidi Well your videos and approach is well appreciated ! So whatever you do, I know will help me and many others. Keep it up bro ! I got you on subscribe. (insert giant thumbs up here)
To save you time, I recommend the Acer predator xb3 273 IPS 240hz, there is no noticeable ghosting even Ghosting tests, with for the price of 369.99$ USD I just bought it and love it
Currently have a Zowie 27" @ 144hz and play at 1440. Was looking for another 27" monitor @ 240hz that was an IPS panel. I guess I'll be keeping my Zowie. This was helpful information. If anything, I will go for another Zowie 24" at 240hz. Thanks!
Grate video, very useful since I am looking to buy a new monitor and wondered VA or IPS. Would be amazing if you would review VA monitors like that too.
I have XL2740 and not happy with response at all. If its not monitor, than it is windows problem.PLaying Quakelive, Quakechampions with stable framerate above 240fps, still feels laggy as hell to me, especially in Quakelive, i am sliding on stairs due to bad control of mouse movement.Unable to stop or control movement without hiting wall on any kind of sensitivity and fov combos.I am pretty sure nvidia control panel is setup properly, playing on display scaling.Mouse has PWM3366 sensor.Everything is setup correctly for maximum performance, but somehow in my favourite games i cant compete as i used to be years ago.
I've been using a previously owned XL2740 with blur reduction turned on that I picked up for $300. Games look incredibly crisp. I felt like the color looked worse than my last gen curved Samsung panel, especially when viewing it from another part of the room. That being said, I have a LG 27GN750 arriving tomorrow and I am curious to see how they will look side by side. Either way, I'm going to return/sell one of them. After watching your video, I feel that I might not be able to step away from the clarity of the Zowie, but I'm not a single use user.
The XL2540 doesn't have any DyAc which makes everything a lot more blurry so the best 240 Hz monitor for esports is the XL2546 or the XL2546s (the updated version), or the 27-inch models because they have little to no motion blur. ;)
10:47 Not only 170nits, there is also Crosstalk with mbr. Thank god i bought the zowie, im really Happy with it. The colors are really good for a TN panel.
i love your very in depth video. If I may make a suggestion though, turn up your audio levels a little? I have everything on full blast and can't hear you. I had to plug in headphones.
Great comparison video. Very informative. I just purchased the BenQ Zowie today at Amazon because of this video. And you also earned a subscriber. May you please make a video on how to calibrate the BenQ Zowie to its best settings for gaming and watching content? Thanks in Advance. Have a great day sir.
Thank you! I unfortunately cannot tell you how to calibrate it because every panel is not going to perform the exact same way. So I may end up ruining what you see if I give you my ICC profile. However, what I recommend is finding what looks good to your eyes then saving that for content consumption. For gaming, all I do is adjust the Black Equalizer to the max, Gamma if needed and color vibrance if needed.
@@renzoarana3018 I mean, it's no IPS... but after it warms up for 30 minutes and the contrast/gamma corrections made in the Nvidia control panel (47% Contrast, 91 Gamma, 53 Vibrance).. it's pretty damn good. For a TN panel.. it's definitely one of the best you can buy and looks even better at 120hz. I'm using the Zowie XL2430 Switch 144hz.
@@Aliothale My God , what an excellent seller! You literally sold me the monitor :O Thank you very much for your valious feedback. On different sites say that stock calibration is horrible. Do you use too the ICC profile calibration from rtings.com ?
@@renzoarana3018 Out of the box you will need to adjust the gamma down to the lowest amount (5) in the OSD, and then make additional tweaks in your Nvidia control panel to turn the gamma down slightly farther. Every panel is different, so I can't give you an exact amount, but in the NVCP I would recommend aiming for 89-94 gamma, a slight vibrance boost to brighten up yellows.. 53 is the highest I'd go, and 45-47% contrast to even out some darker areas. I do not use color profiles, just a default sRGB which works fine. I did adjust the panel color slightly, 98/100/100. The vibrance boost makes other colors look better but tends to overkill the reds a bit so I turn the red down slightly so skin colors don't look too reddish. Overall the picture quality is great, your eyes will adjust.. when compared to an IPS it does look a bit duller in color.. but for competitive gaming and casual media Zowie makes the best TN panels out there. I do photography and graphics design, so I do care very much about picture quality, and this is as honest as it gets. I would not use it for editing, but I do enjoy it for casual RUclips and TV show watching.
@@Aliothale Awesome feedback!, thank you very much, I will do all that setting. I just want to have the same or a better display than a laptop I ve sold days ago, is a X1 Extreme Thinkpad and has this IPS display: imgur.com/86viC1e, do you think the Zowie has better display? I think yes :D 91.1% srGB 58.8% Adobe RGB Are these two factors the most important to define the color quality of a display?
I just got the ACER nitro xf252q 240hz .3 Ms response time for $300 at micro center. Way better than my black friday Tv i use with my Ps4 pro now i need to start working on building myself a Pc.
Your reviews are great, man. Can you please do a review comparing the XL2540 to the (Alienware AW2518Hf) and the (AORUS KD25F)? I'm torn between the 3, and really obsessive when it comes to expensive purchases, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks man! More reviews will be on the way. I'll be testing the upcoming XL2546S which is Zowie's just announced 0.5ms response time DyAc+ monitor along with the Alienware, ViewSonic and some others that I can find. However, sadly this will have to wait until the pandemic is over since I can't find any monitors. If you can find links, go ahead and throw them my way!
@@BijanJamshidi Also, concerning the IPS displays, the (MSI OPTIX MAG251RX) seems like a good candidate to throw in with the bunch to compare. I've noticed that a lot of the mentioned monitors are still available through the "Available through these sellers" option on Amazon for retail price (or very close). Hopefully, it doesn't get much worse and they don't completely sell out of my options. That new Zowie does sound intriguing though, maybe I'll hold out a little longer. Thanks for the quick response.
@@Hc4697 I have the Alienware in my cart ready to purchase, however I'm waiting for the ViewSonic, MSI and Omen (1440p 240Hz for Omen) to be in stock until I purchase.
I believe DisplayHDR 400 is usually not much better than SDR. Based on some research I did before purchasing an Acer X35, DisplayHDR 600 and 1000 are the only certifications that will get you the "real" HDR experience. I believe an FALD backlight is basically a requirement for good HDR, ie a backlight that has lots of individually lit zones. As far as I'm aware, HDR10 isn't a certification at all and basically just means that the device is compatible with HDR content. It says nothing about how good the display is. So yeah, most monitors that market themselves as "HDR" aren't really.
I realized how much of a Zowie fanboy you are when you said the Asus had clearer motion with ELMB sync on but was unusable at 170 nits (actually in the 190s) because you can’t accept it being superior. 190 is more than usable, it’s usually preferred to have a lower brightness rather than keeping your monitor on an eye searing max brightness. It is also higher than most strobing technologies available while having a very low pulse timing of 1.1 ms leading to increased motion clarity. BTW if anything Zowie made WAS the king of 240hz it was the XL2546 :)
Having a lower brightness makes it difficult to see the scene to your fullest abilities as well as to separate objects from a scene. This is why people that play professionally and competitive players require a monitor that’s super bright.
3 years later and the Xl2546 is still the king besides the newer 0.5ms dyac + version but that’s a little overkill and the price difference is just crazy. Glad to see this beast still putting in work :)
@@Ramoa_ Thank you! I'm still learning new ways as well to do better testing and giving better results so hopefully by that time I'll have improved considerably.
Great job!! Maybe the Alienware AW2518H (not AW2518Hf) can beat the Zowie XL2546? I really can't make up my mind which one to get...keep up the good work.
There are no other size variants for these monitors, so that’s kind of not possible other than the Acer, which only had 27 inch in stock during the time of making the video. Size doesn’t really matter here. You can push your monitor away from you (if you desk Supports that) and have the 27 inch monitors in the same field of view as a 24 inch monitor that would be a little closer. In terms of the Alienware, I’m currently testing the Alienware 27 inch version (24 wasn’t available when I purchased) and 2 other 240Hz displays as well as writing the script as we speak.

@@BijanJamshidi I've read that the "DyAc+" works the same as "DyAc" but the only difference being is that it was re-built to work better and smoother with the 0.5ms (GtG) Respone time to produce more accurate frames. Anyway, I'm looking forward for the review in the future.

Extra refresh rate, better colours, same response time and only slightly reduced pixel density.
U think that the zowie 2540 is better or is the Alienware very good
@@Phaniac. I'm loving my Alienware but I've not used the Zowie monitor before.
elmb is actually insanely impressive on my asus 280hz.
I own an acer 240hz TN Panel monitor and their black and white handling is really bad. the screen is also too bright for me, and I think I'll go to the asus IPS panel
keep going dude , like the way you explain it. great job 👍
Thank you! Appreciate the support 🙂
Yea you can give me that monitor if you want
Just sit on IPS panels for one week and then back to the TN, you will want your ips back, esspecially it is similar fast to the TN, fastIPS panels are upgrade for any TN Panel, and they are even faster than some TN, due to input lag and response time (the asus is the fastest ips panel in response time of any ips panels before) - 3.6 ms vs 3.3 ms (zowie)
For gaming I use my customized settings by myself (Because ofc fps mode its just the random selection for not every game) I do play Cod MW tho but this settings I come from is best for almost every game.
ELMB depends of the fps, but actually its the better feature than before, because the screen its more brightness than in any previous feature like that, its big + for that, and actually with 200+ fps and elmb this is better than any TN panel due to best colors
For my desktop (takes me 5 sec to change it)
1) Racing Mode, Shadow boost = 0, Brightness 50 (sometimes I lower it depends of the day), Contrast = 73, Vivid pixel ofc = 0 m(its only good for gamings, its like Super resolution feature in my LG 144hz TN), Color Temp I use from tfr central (www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_tuf_gaming_vg279qm.htm#calibration) but i like blue on my desktop so i Keep it higher, Red = 98.
@@BijanJamshidi Make sure to compare it with 240hz. For me and I saw it on my eyes. The 240hz Tn is much clear and Sharp compare to any IPS

Thank you! I don’t plan on it 😁
I have an XL2540, an XL2740, and just got the Asus 280hz monitor, and I’ve gotta say, the Asus is amazing compared to my Zowies.

@@Nathan477 Image quality is great. I didn't have a great experience with older Asus monitors but the new ones seem fine.

Or you need a monitor that has it all, but like 24 inches or so.
Bijan Jamshidi I have my eye on the Dell Alienware AW2521HF at the moment. I hope BenQ/Zowie come up with their version of 1080p IPS 240hz. I’m not that picky when it comes to Monitors.

What would you recommend?
Thanks! Very informative. I've been doing a few days of research and this helped me out.
1 fact why reviews like this doesn't matter when comparing monitor display is because we have different monitors while viewing this. But the verbal review is always a great source of info. I'm watching this using my ASUS VG278QR on full custom mode.
Tip:
Do you think worth it?
After 4 months, what's your opinion now?
Hey man. Was the switch noticeably different when playing competitive games? Do you still prefer it over the ASUS?
I have the 25” version of the Asus and I love it! Gaming is fantastic and I actually really like the controls. I learned to make adjustments very fast and don’t dislike it at all. I appreciate the time you took to make this. Liked/subbed! :-)
U recommend 25” or 27”
@@xBaxinix 25" is best for gaming and most of the gamers use 24" so i recommend 25" version
Asus monitor does come in VG259QM 24.5 inches. The monitor reviewed in this video is 27 inches.
I really hope TN remains a screen tech in years to come.

been watching monitor reviews this last weeks, and this video is far the best!
Love the review. Your channel is bound to blow up in subscribers soon! Amazing video quality.
If you wanna check it out:

u just earned a sub! i was really confused about the zowie and the ips panel moni now i know ! thanks man
Amazing review, exactly what I was looking for, thx!
Thanks!
Look out for the new IPS monitors review I’m bringing. That will be a better one and better monitors. Thank you!
After watching this video till end I subscribed it First and secondly it's really made up mind clear 🤗 tqs bro ur doing great job 😊
This is the BEST review of these monitors on youtube, thank you
Thank you! Wait til you see the next one. I think it’ll be much better.
Please I want to know. WHICH IPS MONITOR HAS THE BEST COLOR? AND WHICH ONE HAS THE LESS MOTION BLUR?
Between all 3 IPS displays, the ASUS seemed to have the best color and definitely had the best blur reduction technology with and without ELMB.
@@BijanJamshidi Thank you very much
Grate video, very useful since I am looking to buy a new monitor and wondered VA or IPS. Would be amazing if you would review VA monitors like that too.
If I find a compelling VA monitor, I definitely will. No discrimination here lol.
Also, thank you!
Comparing BenQ ZOWIE XL2740 with VG279QM , Asus is much cheaper...
This is the only reason I would like to research on this topic.
Tq for shating this video. Really appreciate ur insight on hrlping me choosing my new monitor
Surprised to not see the Alienware AW2521HF in here.
That may be in a future video, but not sure yet because Coronavirus.
this was just an insanely good video. Thank u for your video and reviews!
Such good reviews , details and technical data’s 👍👍
I've been using a previously owned XL2740 with blur reduction turned on that I picked up for $300. Games look incredibly crisp. I felt like the color looked worse than my last gen curved Samsung panel, especially when viewing it from another part of the room. That being said, I have a LG 27GN750 arriving tomorrow and I am curious to see how they will look side by side. Either way, I'm going to return/sell one of them.
After watching your video, I feel that I might not be able to step away from the clarity of the Zowie, but I'm not a single use user.
Any updates on what you picked? I have the GN750 and am looking at the 2740 right now.
Any updates?

thats a whole basicallyhomeless episode in one setting! wow
Love the content man
Thank you! 😁
Bro good job, I don’t know why you have low likes and subscribers but you helps me a lot thnx for video
The XL2540 doesn't have any DyAc which makes everything a lot more blurry so the best 240 Hz monitor for esports is the XL2546 or the XL2546s (the updated version), or the 27-inch models because they have little to no motion blur. ;)
sound levels are very low on this video, but seems like you've fixed it for newer ones
I had to plug in headphones.
bro ur headphones is da problem
Finally I found the content I want

Literally what boat i am in now, thank you for the vid !
Amazing review. I always buy a Zowie just for competitive FPS games.. I have IPS ones for casual gaming.
Congrats Zowie owner, how are the colors comparing to your IPS monitor? Being honest :)
You literally sold me the monitor :O
Thank you very much for your valious feedback.
I think yes :D
91.1% srGB
58.8% Adobe RGB
Are these two factors the most important to define the color quality of a display?
Now thats a great comparison!! Good job!
Thank you very much! 😁
I just got the ACER nitro xf252q 240hz .3 Ms response time for $300 at micro center. Way better than my black friday Tv i use with my Ps4 pro now i need to start working on building myself a Pc.
Good informative video.
Make a video on widescreen monitors and Budget 144hz monitors
Sub +1. So far the best review ever ! I am going to get XL2546K. thank you so much.
Same here I’m torn between the benq and the AW2518H as well
@@Hc4697 I have the Alienware in my cart ready to purchase, however I'm waiting for the ViewSonic, MSI and Omen (1440p 240Hz for Omen) to be in stock until I purchase.
Bijan J. Sounds good you have a new sub!
13:08 Asus !! Thank's helping me make this choice !!
Thank you. That was the most clear explanation I’ve gotten so far.
Love the review man... Its helping me alot thanks
Glad to see this beast still putting in work :)
what are those newer dyac monitors?
I really need to see alienware monitors in this comparison! Aw2521hf is a beast monitor!
That'll be coming in a future video when I can get my hands on that as well as some other untested 240Hz IPS displays.
@@BijanJamshidi Okay! Your videos have a lot of quality, I really liked the analysis, I will follow up on future uploads, good job!
@@Ramoa_ Thank you! I'm still learning new ways as well to do better testing and giving better results so hopefully by that time I'll have improved considerably.
Awesome, thank you for your hard work!
Great job!! Maybe the Alienware AW2518H (not AW2518Hf) can beat the Zowie XL2546? I really can't make up my mind which one to get...keep up the good work.
I always really love your reviews! amazingly detailed!
TLDR: 27 inch monitors vs 24 inch monitor. Maybe stick to one size next time? Why no Alienware 25" 240hz IPS?
There are no other size variants for these monitors, so that’s kind of not possible other than the Acer, which only had 27 inch in stock during the time of making the video. Size doesn’t really matter here. You can push your monitor away from you (if you desk Supports that) and have the 27 inch monitors in the same field of view as a 24 inch monitor that would be a little closer. In terms of the Alienware, I’m currently testing the Alienware 27 inch version (24 wasn’t available when I purchased) and 2 other 240Hz displays as well as writing the script as we speak.
Hey dude just found about you lately ! Thank you for the content ! I know I'm 3 years late, but I can't find the xl2540 anymore I think it's discontinued. Which similar most recent one would you recommend please ? Also do the rapid liquid crystal technology changes anything ?
Very, very, very good video! Thank you. I was going to buy the Acer IPS but this change my opinion about tn panels, i will play normal games in Oled C9 LG and competives in that zowie
Why no input lag test :-(
Might be the best tech youtuber with best reviews ever. ❤️
Holy moly that's some hard work and a lot of research on your part. THANKS!
I've been loooking for this for so long, a comparison video without any bullshit-shilling twist built in it, that is well researched and super informative like this one.
You earned a sub for sure!
btw, what do you think about the newest XL2546S? would you review it as well?
Thanks man! For the XL2546S, I'm very interested in testing it out. I plan on testing that as well as a bunch of other IPS 240 hz displays I haven't tried yet, but that'll all have to wait until the pandemic is over sine I can't find them anywhere except the retailer website.

I've read that the "DyAc+" works the same as "DyAc" but the only difference being is that it was re-built to work better and smoother with the 0.5ms (GtG) Respone time to produce more accurate frames.
Anyway, I'm looking forward for the review in the future.
there is an update line up for the zowie, it's XL2546S with 0.5ms response time and DyAc+
loving my BenQ XL2546 with the Black Equalizer and Dynamic Accuracy! This is the king of gaming monitor! Don't get me wrong, ASUS is good too but for me as a hardcore gamer and mostly playing fps games. xl2546 is really enjoyable and helped me alot!
My Pc is optimised for 1440p, i read that this monitor is 1080p . Does it bottleneck my pc?
Great vid Bijan. Keep up the good stuff 😉
