I just rescued a power Mac 310 from the curb. The guy ignored me and just stared at me when I said hello and asked about the saw. I said I live around the corner neighbor, nice to meet you, and drove off with the saw. I need a carb kit for carb 94496 zama, an air cleaner cover and the plastic piece that sits on top of the air cleaner cover, that the choke lever goes through. All that left of that is a piece of broken plastic that says throttle latch on it. If I could get a carb kit I know I can save this old gal. Oh, my neighbor, he had the chain on backwards 😅

I’ve done very well with curb finds over the years. Almost everything with a 2 cycle motor in my garage is something someone put out with the garbage. I have a stihl 024 AV super hanging on the wall waiting for a top end and piston. Everything else is fine.

@@americanlivesmatter-BmanWild no worries friend. I got it running today. I bought a donor saw on eBay, tore it apart and made a great saw. I just need a lock nut for the chain cover assembly. The oem nut on both saws backs off rapidly. I used buckins video on carb adjustment and she rips. I did not even have to rebuild the carb. One fuel line was thin, like a wet noodle and probably sucking itself shut. I'm guessing ethanol. What a sweet sound those old mac's make!

I run my Stihl 661Mag with a Stihl 36” lightweight bar it came stock with a 36” standard and I also have a Oregon 42” bar the weight between them all is just not comparable! I use them all but when it get into falling and running saw all day you find as Buckin said every way you can to benefit on being lighter! And the big part a lot of people over look and nothing on anyone but for us that are on the stump all day it has a lot to do with balance! With a heavier bar you get tip drop so when you are try to make your money cut you are fighting that weight all day to be straight and flat on your horizontal cuts when falling! With the light weight bar my saw is perfectly balanced when you pick it up by the rap! No drop at all it makes such a big difference you just can’t compare the two! And it is so much easier on your body! Great video Buckin glad to see you are doing better let her rip tater chip!🤟🏻👊🏻

      Hello.
I am not a logger and also not a person with much knowledge about thoes issues. I just cut my personal firewood and help friends.
I have a Stihl MSA300 with original Stihl 18" light 04 bar and chains, I not understand about all thoes size gages but my idea was to be able if possible to install kind same gage bar and chain on my old Husky 162 but in a 24" bar lenght.
I very seldom use my old husky for I have went to battery power, so in my case now it with be to set up my old husky with a 24" bar just for any eventually ticker log.
Do you have any advice about a 24" bar and chain size? Also what brand with be recommended to keep weight down on this my old husky witch in fact still in top performance even after so many years?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I learned how to file watching your videoes. At the beginning, I didn't get the sharpest chain with my hand file. So i took the raker down to .040"/ 1mm to get the saw to bite a bite more. Great chips, but the chain didn't like bore cutting. Or get a bit moody, especially in the hardwoods when i didnt reach all the way through the log. Then I started rewatching the videoes, and found out the 0.25" / 0,65mm depth again. And my oh my did that make a huge difference. When I start to borecut now, I hardly need to hold the saw. I just need to guide it a bit and swoop it goes into the log. Thanks for all the great tips, tricks and entertainment friend. Yall have a good one!

How long has walkers shop been around? I wonder if my old man bought his 066 from him between 94-97...He's gone now and I couldn't let that saw go. Just good memories of how happy he was running that saw falling on rodrick island, bella coola, bella bella in the 90's. He worked 20 on 10 off when I was growing up. He moved to Nanaimo from Newfoundland in 94 and we followed a year later. It was an amazing time and my dad fell in love with the west coast. He retired in Newfoundland shortly before he died. We had a connection through woodwork, axes, powersaws, and the outdoors...sorry for rambling lol watching your videos just really makes me reminisce and want to get back out there. Thanks for what you do man.

The Stihl bars are all steel but they are actually hollow. They are great with a few caveats, they usually don't bend until they snap. I love the light weight but have had one of them snap right in half. Also the 36" is quite flexy and will throw a chain in novice hands if even just slightly loose. When treated gingerly and handled properly they are the best. For a workhorse bar that will be run hard I prefer the sugihara light, in my experience it is totally bulletproof

Another great video Buckin, Can you explain how to tell if a chain is destroyed? For example I was on a job and my saw was not cutting great so I stopped, filed my chain and on the first cut it lost it's edge. I did this a few times before just tossing it in the trash and buying a new chain.

@@BuckinBillyRaySmith What causes it to loose its edge on the first cut? Can the temper in the chain get ruined or would that more than likely be an issue with the filing itself?

What gauge is that bar? Here In Finland stihl offers only .60 gauge bars and chains.

How this work with the chain? Because Husky have 1.5mm and Stihl 1.6mm chain?
