Thank you John I totally agree with you, funny enough I am a 61 year old sailor and I am following your way of life Great videos and a great way of putting it out there Again I thank you 🙏 Fair winds to you always ⛵️
I just discovered your blog and I am very glad I did. I am a 65 year old sailor who have been feeling I should think about hanging up my boots ! But not now ! Thanks John .
Thanks for the video John! I’ve been reading your book and browsing your website. As a life long sailor who’s getting older by the day (with a bum shoulder at the moment) your tips are appreciated. Fair winds!
Hi John interesting video, I'm in my 70s and I had osteoarthritis for many years then I discovered Cumin and tumeric in capsule form , after about 3 months of taking them all my joints seem to have healed. I go trekking, mountain biking, and now sailing. I never take pain killers or antibiotics, I grow my own vegetables and fruit. You really have hit the nail on the head.
So I am not the only one that doesn't like to go to the doctor. Last time was in 2006 and never went back after that. I call it healthy life old school style hehe and I love it. Great video indeed and good information too. I hope lots will follow the advice. Fair winds... lovely boat by the way... just doing the boat tour earlier. 😁
Very nice to hear from a "like mind." I had a series of similar stories. Until now, everyone thought I was just a bit paranoid. Good to hear your story,
Im reading the next offering of yours. John I am curious about the nutritional supplements you mentioned on your web page. I retired at 56 and immediately became crippled by arthritis. I had to sell my sailboat as I can’t move around her safely. I am not a candidate for knee replacement so anything that might get me back on the water interests me.
Plus, the pharmaceutical companies can’t patent a plant. So, in effect, you can become your own doctor using natural “medicines.” A great reference to Jesus in Luke 4:23 where he is quoted saying “Physician, heal thyself.” Thanks John for the information.
One leg of the bridle is permanently chained the leading line (the chain led through a reinforced plastic hose) because this goes through the stemhead fitting in a tight curve when the boat is hove to (without the drogue she keeps on moving forward). When using it astern, I simply tie the other leg to the thimble for the leading line, reasoning that if it chafes through, it wouldn’t be a disaster, I could just winch it in and attach another line. The two ends of the bridle are fastened to the stern cleats and led out through the side fairleads. I thought these might chafe and I would need to install new ones on the aft rail but it turns out they are so close to the cleats, there’s no movement at all.
@@oldmansailing Hi John I have the same device , minus the trailing prop. I believe the company no longer makes the prop? Any idea if there are diagrams for its construction?
Thank you John

Just heard you on Radio 2, you're an inspiration John. Love this video.
Me too, great interview that should have lasted much longer.
I'm just reading your book that I got for Xmas, so far so good. I didn't expect a medical lesson on RUclips 😂
I'm loving your book...and this is a great little video.
I'm 77 and thinking about buying a sailboat.
I just found your channel. Inspiring and stimulating
Great video John... Fair Winds and Following Seas !
As healthy as your subject is where you’re sitting is much healthier! 🙏
I’m reading “Old Man Sailing” and enjoying it immensely.
Thank you, Bill. If you haven’t done so already, would you like to leave it a review?
@@oldmansailing I’ll do so today John!

A great book.

I absolutely love your perspective and agree the same cheers maybe we can chat on the water someday.
Safe journey John! Using wind power makes a change from that electric powered vehicle you were testing last time we spoke en route from Telford!
John, I couldn’t comment on your latest video with the drogue. Interested in how you tied the bridal end to the rest of the line / sheet.

How affective have you found your water generator is it as advertised? Hugh
Inspiring! Thank you..
I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of herbal tea your friend was taking?
Graviola - six cups a day. I have one a day and like to have it cold.
Stay healthy!
Excellent John
What is that gizmo on tbe stern looking like a modern trailing log?
Aquagen water-driven generator.
That's an old Aquagen. The modern version of water-driven generstor is the Watt&Sea.
@@oldmansailingdoes that give you many amp hours after a day? Does it slow you down at all?
@@earthman3000 Five amps at six knots but on the trade wind route there’s so much Sargasso weed for it to pick up that it’s just a liability.
