I can confirm the same "nope don't wanna work anymore" problem with the G&G mosfet and 30c batteries. I wish I saw this video before I bought four different G&G guns. Now I need to either buy four mosfets or six different batteries to make the things actually pew-pew correctly.
Lotta good info here thanks. I intended to start airsoft teching this year but things put it on hold. Love your channel to get ideas of good vs bad. I know it's a lot of subjection but with so many manufacturers it's expensive to be very wrong. And annoying to be good but not great.
I can totally relate to this. My Gc16 predator had no power and the etu broke after 2 months I bought it in October last year and I just got it Back from repair. Already have a better m4 and an ak so I'll probably upgrade just like in this video. Great video and awesome channel. Keep going👍
I'm so glad you did this video the amount of people I tell not to trust that mosfet and yet it's still the go to starter , confusing really, cyma are cheaper and the newer ones are amazing :-)
What would you recommend? I want to buy an eag that's good out the box for around £300. Was thinking of getting a wild hog but after seeing this I'm having second thoughts.
Cyma have released a "pre upgraded " range of m4s that are sick like there nothing wrong with a wild hog but there better for the money all comes down to personal preference but yea the cyma is pritty sick , negative has done a video on the cyma ones if you have a look and they come in different lengths so you can really pick and choose but all are under 300 so if you did want to add some upgrades you can :-)
Just got an ETU++. Other than a minor modification (had to make my selector plate longer as it wasn’t engaging the switch on the rear of the trigger board properly) it works like a dream. Plus I love the tension release feature it has built in for if you use precocking. Fairly sure the fitment issue was my fault, put the G&G triggerboard inside of a specna arms core gearbox because I wanted the qd spring guide.
@@ddiakHavoc it puts more stress on the gb but if you build it well then it won't destroy it. All that happens is the components wear faster so you might need to replace stuff more often.
Wow perfect timing. Have a G&G on my desk right now. Budget for the repair is low though so no room for a new piston otherwise I'd totally SS. For the record, its an ARP 9 with a terribly installed titan--wires chewed up by motor, terrible shimming (I think whoever installed the titan lost some shims), shattered piston head, and completely eaten out brass bushings.
I have been running my SRS with the stock ETU for 4 years and its still working great. I always run in on 15c 1000mah 11.1 lipo. It being fussy about batterys isn't a problem if you buy the right batterys. I think these gun are great value for money at about £200. Your only paying a bit more that a really cheap gun and getting loads improvements. Are you saying that extra 100mm of barrel is giving better accuracy? Because you definitely don't need it for power. My 200mm barrel was shooting at above UK site limits when I got it 360fps on a .2.
Just recently got a Warthog 12", sounds crap, just like that wildhog, all twangy. Was it just the re shim that fixed it or would i need to short stroke it and replace piston too? Thanks.
1:30 Your claim about the C rating for the gun is just untrue. A battery that has a higher C rating is never a bad thing. It would not cause the gun to stop shooting. This is because the way electrical current works in this application. The mosfet will pull the required amount of current needed, so if the battery can not provide enough current the gun will not function properly. So in this case I believe you have a damaged/defective battery.
I must’ve got a good one then because my wild hog was firing on .25 for ~325 fps, I’ve already changed the barrel and hop up and am changing the complete internals of the gearbox and the piston and spring cos the horrible twang is doing my head in
@@dainiusvysniauskas2049 im swapping it for a guarder M100 since they shoot around 360 give or take, i can always trim the spring if it comes to it because apparently thats what may be making the twang noise since it could be a naff spring didnt know m130 springs were put into some of the short barrels ill have to have a look at that
Sry for the late response but i think this was the 7“. I got the 13.5“ a while ago and in my opinion it was pretty good for average use. I think when you are using it more frequently you might upgrade some parts
About ETU this is kind a lotery , new ones can handle 25 c but they are visualy the same . Got one myself and I totaly agree with all the fuckups you mensioned. My question to you is do you think this pistol grip messes out pinion to bevel angle ? It is still quite loud after shiming. BTW great video mate , realy helps me out.
Set myself a budget of £300 for my first airsoft gun and was thinking of getting a wild hog But after watching this video and seeing the work it needs to be good it's putting me off. Any EAGs you'd recommend within this price range that are reliable out the box?
TBF he's exaggerating quite a lot here. G&G guns (CM16 & GC16 series) are really good out of the box. You might want to change out the hop up bucking and the tensioner, which shouldn't be more than 20 € and you are good to go. Just be careful which lipo batteries you buy, but most shops even list fitting batteries so yeah. The gun is quite loud but from I understand this is supposed to be that way. There is no reason to shim the gears out of the box either, just watch some reviews of these guns and you will see you get a really decent gun for a good price. If you're still put off maybe look into the Ares Amoeba AM-series, they are decent as well for around the same price.
yo, my local tech refused to open my APS gearbox, says he's had nothing but trouble with em. just wondering what you thought of APS. dont see a lot of those here.
Do you find every one of them has that issue with the mosfet? I only ask as I have a wildhog, I fitted 13:1 gears and a higher torque but balanced motor and it works excellently using a nanotech 11.1 1200mah 25c lipo. Or are they shit in general but some cope better than others? I'd heard that they shit themselves quite often so was looking at the perun if that happens but she's a fucking gem as it stands. Would like precocking though...
I would recommend a Specna Arms. A core series because I dislike the Orion Gearbox in the edge series. As for upgrades: Maple leaf bucking and nub. Zci inner barrel. Gate Warfet or Perun V2 optical mosfet. Radius the Gearbox. Shs piston and piston head. Either shortstroke the stock gears or get 16:1 gears, a high torque or high speed motor (shs for high speed, zci for high torque) and maybe shortsttoke those as well.
