    With regards to the movement, people often quickly gloss over this with the Sinn 556, but it’s worth mentioning that it uses a top grade movement and yes, they are thermally blued screws. It has also been further regulated by Sinn. The top grade movement and the regulation basically make equivalent to a COSC grade movement in everything but certification.

    • @theknightswatch
      @theknightswatch  3 года назад +2

      Agreed the top grade is a good movement and it’s much more expensive to use than the base. But in the end it is just an eta nothing fancy and nothing we haven’t seen before. Good movement, good to see they used the better version, but really nothing too crazy.

    Thank you very much for your review.
    We Japanese call this kind of watches “質実剛健” means “Simple and strong” or “unaffected and sincere”.
    This watch is really super legible.
    I think this is made of “German spirit “ means “ドイツ魂”.
    I love this watch.
    Btw, I can see ゴジラ in the frame on the wall. haha 😂.

      I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for tying in those Japanese ideas. Ya that calligraphy I got from a Grand Seiko event!

    I went to the store yesterday with the intention of buying a Blue Moon Presage... tried it on and it looked nice on the wrist... then I tried this 556i and was blown away by the quality, presence, size and stunning look. They had the black dial on the fine-link bracelet and the blue dial on the h-link. I was much more immediately taken with the former. Now I am saving my money on any and all watches until I can get this one...

      Great choice. The sinn really is one of those watches that can be your only piece. It’s a lovely watch and I hope you
      can get one soon!

    Actually love the automatik with a K. Basically saying it's Germany but with in a way that's understated.

      Completely agree. Love understatement in a watch.

    Nice review. I believe the 556a addresses many of your concerns in regards to the 556i. I hope you are able to review it someday.

    "Automatik" is for their German customers so they quickly see it's automatic and not a quartz, solar or otherwise. I find it useful when you're perusing the store.

      Makes sense! Helpful at a quick glance for sure.

      I always find it hilarious that people complain about the ''Automatik'' on this watch. Typically these are the same people who will proudly wear a ''Rolex Oyster Perpetual Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified'' automatic billboard on their wrist.

    It does seem like every one of the Flieger types has just one or two things that make one stop and think, maybe I should get the other one. Damasko a little big ( for me) and I don't love the look of the sub steel. I agree that the dial on this makes it possibly more appealing than the Stowa Classic, since I like inky over slightly matte. Same with the Mühle. For some reason I'm a bit concerned about those micro flaws on the dial and yeah, the rough black on the center of the hand stack and no lume seconds hand. Are the dates perfectly aligned inside the window? it'd so hard to capture on a video unless there is absolutely no camera angle. Great review. : keeps me on the fence. I think that is one of the strongest elements of your reviews. No sugar coating. I'd probably really like this watch. But i might not love it. Thanks Xavier. Top notch job

    • @theknightswatch
      @theknightswatch  4 года назад +2

      Appreciate it Michael. The date window is in fact perfectly aligned, and hey at least this one has an accurate movement! There are gonna be flaws no matter the watch it’s just how the design and love outweighs them. Appreciate your continued support 🙂

    Don't ever buy a Sinn from watchbuys, I got a 556i with a completely misaligned dial and they claim it'd withing tolerance. Absolute garbage quality control for the $1400 price tag.

    • @hgr.7857
      @hgr.7857 4 месяца назад

      I've had excellent interactions with watchbuys. They've provided *outstanding* customer service- leading the way and 2nd place is behind by a mile. Its not the distributor who assembled the watch.
      You could take yours to a jeweller to have the dial reset if it's really put a bug in your bonnet.
      For context, my 104 St Sa is running about +7 sec/day put of the box. After about 9mo. it hasnt settles down. But is within tolerance. Would i lime it to be more accurate? Yes, expected it would be. Solution: regulated by jeweller. Now it gains abput 1.5 spd.

    Great review. The case is described as satinized on the official website. i assume that also means brushed as you stated?

    • @theknightswatch
      @theknightswatch  4 года назад +1

      Not 100% sure. If it is satin, it still has a brushed grain look about it where other satin cases like a hamilton khaki just look flat with no finishing or brushing.

      @@theknightswatch thanks. i ask because i want to use it as a beater and i am wondering if it can be used as such and whether it will easily show scratches. Any thoughts?

    • @theknightswatch
      @theknightswatch  4 года назад

      Sorry for the late reply, I’m sure it will work fine as a beater, will pick up far less scratches than an equivalent polished watch and scratches will hide better. However not scratch proof so as long as you’re ok with getting a ding or scratch it’s a good choice.

    Have been seriously considering selling my traska summiteer for one these but am worried about the lack of tapering on the bracelet and that poor/big clasp.

    • @theknightswatch
      @theknightswatch  4 года назад +1

      I’ve had both watches. The sinn is the better watch and feels great on wrist. The traska is a great watch too. It’s not some huge step up but if you think you’ll like it and you can swing it why not! Leans a little more tool watch on the sinn side I feel.

    Proper milled clasp? No. It's stamped, bud - and the biggest weakness of the watch. Biggest flaw by far, if Sinn would 'upgrade' their clasp on the H-link that has been used for at least two decades they would make many of their loyal fan base incredibly happy, but they haven't and its pretty annoying. Cheap piece of tin on an otherwise fantastic model.

    Its not a pilots watch, its a tool watch with pilots asthetic and yes a divers extension is welcomed on any 200m watch. And yes they are heat blued screws. Come on dude.

    You need to wear the watch behind your wrist bone.
