  • Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge teaching the solo of the title track of the album Blackbird. This was taken from his DVD, Mark Tremonti: The Sound and The Story.
    In February 2011, Guitarist magazine named the song's two back-to-back guitar solos, which are respectively played by vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy and lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, as collectively the greatest guitar solo of all time. In a poll allowing readers to vote, the song won and
    defeated performances by famous rock guitarists such as Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, and David Gilmour by a wide margin. Guitarist posted via Twitter that Alter Bridge's victory in the poll was "astonishing".

    Mark has the best rocker face hands-down. The way he contorts his face when he’s playing you can just tell he’s right into it. Interrupting him would be like trying to wake up a sleep-walker; you simply do not

    what he teaches for the section before the legato lick (the section at 4:51) is not what he plays in the final version?

      That’s right. I know that’s the way he plays it live.

      @@scottking2467 I had to sit for some time to figure out what the difference is but it definitely seems to be slightly different. Think I have it now though, much more bluesy than I realised at first.

      @@scotch7731he plays it slower. I play it like that too because it allows me to prepare myself before doing the subsequent legato. It's actually my favourite trick, doing bluesy lick before moving to shredding or legato

    Not a historic solo. Too short, too writing.

    • @mrtiesthatbind
      @mrtiesthatbind 2 года назад +26

      That's because he only plays one part of it. The other one is played by Myles Kennedy
