RoTz0101 Zidane cant be the best midfielder of all Time. R9 in his Prime was the most dangerous you could face but obviously only for a Couple years. Same for Ronaldinho for sure the most talented player EVER, but mentality and work ethic destroyed his career. Skill wise nobody of them can Touch Messi, messi brought football ( not only in numbers ) to a new level. He is cristiano overpassed everyone else, cr7 as a striker and leader, Messi just with how he is able to play football. He can do everything. God of football

I agree when I was a kid, any time I would watch ronaldo it was a different feeling.
Ronaldo the best of all time. Played in 4 World Cups, went to 3 Finals & Won 2 of them. By the age if 17 already won Ballon d"Or. If not for his injuries he would have won 5 Ballon d"Ors by time 2002. He was just amazing, for me he will always be number 1, ahead of Pele, Maradona, Zidane etc.. We were robed of his godly gifts too early but thanks to these videos we will never forget who is KING!

Imagine the great Zidane saying this for you: "Every day in training I saw something new about him". A player who can do basically everything (I mean Zidane) in terms of skills saying this for Ronaldo. This just proves that no matter how good Cristiano and Messi are and those after them, there would be only one Phenomeno. And this would be R9.

Being french i followed Zidane's career with a lot of interest, He had a smooth touch of the ball and moves, amazing control and an exceptional vision of the game which made him the perfect midfield. Inteligence and hard work, physically and mentally made him very effective and succesful (He won every competitions he ever attended)
I haven't had the chance to actually watch Maradonna nor Pelé play (born in '82) but thanks to people posting more and more videos about them, giving us the chance to (re)discover their carreer.
What stroke me the most about Maradona was how precise he was, he could literally place the ball wherever he wanted, A truly gifted player who could joggle with anything, (I like to compare him with Mozart, while others where trying to find the right notes, they just appeared to him ..)That is like Maradona, not too much thinking, just let the magic work, naturally gifted, he was special..
He could make the impossible, possible. Something unthinkable Like wining the Calcio with Napoli.
Ronaldo on the other hand was a true phenomenon. A Tornado with the ball. Unquestionably the greatest Dribbler of all time. And possibly the best striker (together with Pelé) . Ronaldo at his peak (inter) had reach a so high level of technicity and athletical prowess, it was almost scary and so captivating...
No other players have ever inspired players like Ronaldo had. His moves have influenced everyone in nowadays football. Ronaldo had become a reference : The reference.
His performances are still unmatched in my opinion.

Pelé was not a striker. He was a forward player, but never the final man, the number-9 guy (that was Coutinho, when he played for Santos).
So, yeah, Ronaldo is the greatest striker/centre-forward of all time. No need to be afraid to say it.

The nice thing here is Ronaldo says Zidane is the best he played with and Zidane says this about Ronaldo. They both are the biggest legends of that time period and inspired so many players today. I am from 89 so I can't judge on Cruijff, Pele, Maradonna but Ronaldo and Zidane are for me the best I've ever seen.

We got cable in August 1996....could not have timed it better as I saw Ronaldo at his absolute peak with Barcelona in the 1996/97 season. Saw just about every single game he played. What he did then I've still not seen anything like it (with the exception of Messi). Ronaldo was out of this world in a Barcelona shirt, then at Inter where he got the nickname Fenomeno he lit up the Italian league...then he ruptured his cruciate ligament and missed over 2 years. He was still great when he came back (won the 2002 World Cup) but he was nothing like he was during the 90s. I see parallels with Muhummad Ali in that he was fast and slick in the 1960s...then missed three years and slowed down a lot. He was obviously still great in the 70s but his physical peak had gone...just like Ronaldo in the 2000s. Ronaldo in a Barca shirt was freakishly good.
I would like to point out that Ronaldo lit up Serie A when the league was still at its strongest (arguably). Italian defending wasn't just a cliche, it was their strategy.

A better parallel would be made with Mike Tyson - also nicknamed a "phenomenon" when he was getting started.

Maradona had it, Ronaldo had it, Baggio had it, Henry at Monaco had it, Messi had it, Owen had it (he really scared players), Rooney also had it. A common theme is that all these players were 17-21. Mbappe has it now, as he matures into a complete player it will dissapear. I remember Pato at Milan had something in him and even Walcott but ultimately these players failed pretty early. The key is pace, dribbling, intelligence and ultimately technique to finish.

the reason zidane "never got tackled" much was because he was so good he had already taken it past you before you had a chance to tackle or he had already made a wonderful pass and moved forward with play the man was a genius as was R9
I could not agree more. Both him, Zidane, and Ronaldo are extremely creative with the ball. They don't just rely on speed or quickness. They find the right move on the fly.

Ronaldo was the best in the world before he turned 21. His knee exploded in a career ending injury at 22. Came back and won the World Cup at 25 . simply top class. Without injuries and France poisoning him for the 98 World Cup final, he’s would have had 2 more world cups, and much more personal and team awards. The way he easily got passed a defense and got his shot off was majestic

He had it all. Nobody will ever be like him. His PSV,Barcelona, and early Inter years he was unstoppable. Even at Real he was World Class. Even that injury won't hold him back from being one of the best footballers to ever grace the sport.

With every touch, it seemed like a goal was coming. Only brutal fouls and kicking his knees instead of the ball stopped that man. Zidane was also playing at the time and in a better squad, Juventus and he wasnt even close. Del Piero was the main man at Juve. Its sad how because of injuries, Del Piero isnt as remembered as Zidane because Del Piero was arguably better than Zizou at Juve, when both of them were in their prime.

The reason why I believe personally Maradona is the best of all time probably along with Messi is they had the gift to sustain this ability for ten years straight, that’s never been done. Dont talk to me about CR7-great player but not a phenomenal talent. R9 would’ve been the greatest of all time bar injuries. He simply had EVERYTHING. At 18-20 everyone knew he was the best in the world by some distance. Only Maradona has that title to his name.
Ronaldo pre injury was probably the best player I have ever seen (and I have seen in stadium CR7, Messi, Van Basten, Zidane to name a few). He was so fast, with or without the ball, could score in any position, left or right foot, strong header as well, could dribble 4/5 players, had a good sense of passing too, killer instinct, lots of movements, he was a nightmare for all great defenders (Maldini still say he was the hardest to defend against and he played against a lot of greats) and compared to many Brazilian footballers, he was a hard worker, super work ethic. He was never the same after the injuries unfortunately but still managed to lead Brazil to lift the trophy in 2002 WC.
The funny thing is when reporters ask to players, alls says " Without hesitation"............

Ronaldo was my favorite player growing up watching them winning world cups when I was younger. Ronaldinho and Zidane become 2 of my favorites a little later as well.

Ronaldo was the best striker. Maradona was the best roaming forward. Zidane the best midfielder. Garrincha and best the greatest wingers. Pele the best finisher (he was as awesome with his head as he was with his feet and he could dribble like messi) maradona and ronaldo (r9) scared teams, not defenders, teams, in their prime they were dangerous from anywhere. Maldini says maradona is the best he played against. For those of you who think players still get tackled hard watch maradona getting his leg smashed to pieces by the butcher of bilbao or watch any game he played for napoli. Same with ronaldo.
