My Goodman is coming up on 30 years, R22 system. Basic maintenance has kept it strong all these years. Sure, I get the occasional bad capacitor and contact as well, but worth fixing than replacing. Charge has been solid for years and never needs any juice. I also don’t run the unit below 74 degrees and try not to overload it. I am fortunate and watching Steve do his work provides better understanding of what is / could be wrong and how to fix it. Although I will not try being an HVAC tech, I can at least understand what my service guy tells me.
My Aunts old house has a Goodman heat pump. It's had a few capacitor swaps and one contactor. Other than that for a unit that's 45 years old and gets plenty of use in the summer I'd say Goodman will be the heat pump I buy when I need one.
Glad to see you’re still on here! It has been a long time since I’ve watched one of your videos. Like back when you got your snow machines you were fixing up.👍🏻
any body can change a 10 dollar junk capacatator, I guess that was the whole problem, In chyna we trust for money and a guaranteed call back for another one don't worry about cleaning or other loose connections. goodbye America.
I have the same system, 23 years old, still running but struggling on hot days. When I add a dab of R22 to get the low side down (so the A coil doesn’t freeze) the high side goes way up.
@@SFBay69 110F in Vegas still doesn't feel as hot as 90F in Michigan, same here in Salt Lake. I bet it's as hot and humid in MassiveTwoShits where Steve is as it is in Michigan.
Summer solstice in the Phoenix area are the hottest, between 113 to 122°. Lot of the easy bake ovens units are on the roofs, surface temps are over 130. If you have to work in the attic wet towel and a fan, the towel is dry in 3 minutes. And then the monsoon comes in after July. The hunnid hot day are tolerable , but you gotta work fast before 3 PM, the storms come rolling in hard with lightning and microbursts, that wind feels good but the zap ⚡ sucks big time. Worst job I've done is in Needles CA. I know why it's called Needles. That hot wind feels like thousands of Needles hitting your skin at once! Worst hot humid I've worked in, Djibouti the 1 of many armpits I want to forget. Honestly fun times. 😂
Yep! I had these same Goodman R22s, ran them almost 30 years. 4 of them. I just replaced them, but went with rheem/ruud. Goodman isn't what it used to be.
Seems like people can do this themselves. What's this business about arching the poles with a screw driver, because it's a capacitor? I mean after it's shut off. Right, if it's at the hardware store...

That's what I like, a contactor and a capacitor, no fancy outdoor control boards to go bad.
Can't stop a Goodman!
Gooodnans are easy to troubleshoot. The condensers don't have multi speed fans or compressors

Manufactured in July, 1996 -- that is a good unit
My little 2 ton Goodman is also from 1996
Thanks for all your knowledge sir, been a fan for a wild!

Just about 200K subscribers, Good job Steve.
Another fine job by Steve Lav!!
I'd check air flow & temp at the floor register before condemning the unit. only way to know if the evap coil is good.
Yep that’s what I said check air flow and see if the coil is dirty but I pretty sure he did most of that
nice call and a good fix
Steven, Two in one day 😊👍
Happy Pappy Day Steve......I hope my Goodman doesnt stop anytime soon
She's a runner
Rebel, and a stunner........RHCP
Steve why don’t you organize your capacitor drawer so you don’t have to dig.
She's a runner!
Steve for President!!!
At this point, I probably would vote for him for president.
A lot of emergency HVAC calls this weekend here in Michigan …. Weatherman says the 90’s all this coming week

That's what I hear, Mosquito land, (MN).

At least they are getting 2 sides of fresh air into those coils! 😷

Goodmans can last 30 years just do basic maintenance.

Capacitors hold voltage for a few minutes after power is shut off. He shorted it out to get rid of that stored voltage...
😢😢😢😢💥💥💥💥💪💪💪
She’s still running, probably a 8 SEER lol
