Blue crystal is just made with food coloring. The actual process produces a semi clear crystal. He learned how to make it without the food coloring lol
Christopher Lloyd's character has a card tattoo as well. His are two aces. Fitting as that where he went to get a gun and advice. Sorta Hutchs ace up his sleeve was his father.
I didn't know about the tattoos' significance in real life. I assumed it was a symbol for something in universe, like some sort of calling card for an organization. That awesome
20:50 I thought of the poker opening hand as well. I also know militaries use things like cards to engrain pictures of wanted high level enemy combatants. I think those tattoos were his claims in the deck. Unrelated They also use a viewmaster to help soldiers identify equipment. Game theory is really interesting in how it is utilized to make us more efficient.
I'd been avoiding Nobody because they were trying to sell it as a John Wick movie. Which annoyed me. Then I watched it and it just felt like an amazing parody. Just fully aware and having fun.
Bob Odenkirk really brings us back into a new era of Regular Joe action heroes. He's not particularly handsome, particularly fit, and he's not young. He's just a guy. I'm glad we're into this new era.
6:49 Keanu Reeves in the John Wick movies is if they got the absolute best stuntman/backup for John Wick and each and every movie their actual star can't work.
Not exactly on the "Taken style" genre, but close enough this jogger my memory: The Limey. Retired badass? Close enough, violent ex-con. Old guy? 61 year old Terence Stamp, check. Violently getting back at people who messed with his family? Tracking down the people responsible for his daughter's death, check. Breaks from the mold in a few ways. First, it came out in '99, so it predates Taken by nearly a decade. While the fights are there, they don't take up as much of the movie as is standard, a good chunk of it is focused on him being out of place in general (Brit, who just finished a long prison stint, coming to L.A.). Plus he's a much more flawed character, with some exploration of how he failed his daughter as well.
God the action in Taken sucks. Also, in Reeves’ defense, he’s a tremendous action actor. Most of the things he’s criticized for in the west like somewhat stiff performances are what made Hong Kong icons so great. It takes a lot for the character to be instantly readable when moving and fighting so quickly.
The first one was pretty accurate. Punch throat, punch throat, stab leg, punch throat, wait for hostage taker to speak before shooting him. Boring but accurate.
Liam's Neeson was DARKMAN. And Qui Gon Jin. Pretty action oriented. One of Michael Caine's first roles was in Zulu. A WAR MOVIE. Pretty action oriented. he killed so many men with spears.... Keanu Reeves in Point Break, Matrix, Constantine, Speed......
I think they’re talking about the “older retired (X) trying pulled back into the game” genre, with older actors. Not necessarily that these people have NEVER been in an action movie. Just that “action movie star” isn’t the first thing we think when we hear their names. Also, thank you for reminding me to rewatch Darkman!! It’s been too long.
12:50 It was an American judge in an obscenity case and he said something that was essentially "I can't describe [hardcore pornography], but I know it when I see it, and this isn't it".
John Cusack one were you talking about Grosse Pointe Blank? Or War Inc. ? Another one I would add along those lines would be The Matador with Pierce Brosnan as the aging hitman.
For all the talk about the work of making a great action name, I still refuse to believe that John Wick was not named after John Wick, the swordsman that wrote all of the lore for the Neopets website for almost a decade.
I think a lot of people get the tattoo meaning wrong thinking that it represents a unit who gets sent on all the crappy 1000 to 1 odd mission but if you look the way his tattoo is done it’s upside, so when his hand is outstretched to someone they have been the dealt hand rather than him holding a bad hand.
@@BearWith_You When you hold cards, you hold them at a point down at the bottom, so they always fan out. What the comment author's referring to is how the cards look as though they're fanning towards Odenkirk (i.e. as though he's not the one holding them), as though to say 'whoever goes against me has been dealt a bad hand.' There's a chance they weren't flaring out like I said, because I wasn't paying much attention when Fact Fiend showed the clip onscreen, but whichever way, whether it be "I've been dealt a bad hand, and have survived" or "You've been dealt a bad hand, bad luck on your part," it's badass.
@@shaunsocha421 want examples of the fraud (can't be specific) or the aliases (so many are generic or just straight up taken off of people's misdirected or stolen mail) some how actual customers names, usually by deed poll are amazing but definitely cannot tell you those. When I first saw the title the thumbnail just wouldn't load, so my initial reaction to it was "Oh did he die like that one comedian who had a heart attack on stage?"
So, I’m regards to names, personal rule of mine whenever I bring up fact fiend with friends, is that I always start any Karl story with “Karl Smallwood, CEO of big wangers incorporated, yes, I will keep referring to him by his full title” and I stand by that it makes any story or recounting of a factfiend video at least three times funnies when told to someone unfamiliar with the channel
The crazy part is Food For The Poor was founded by Ferdinand Mahfood but when there was a financial scandal they said "who better to be the face of the company than his brother, Robin Mahfood?"
As much as I do love these videos. I do wish you either had subtitles that we could turn on or off. Or had subtitles for when the others, off-screen talk. Cuz it can be very hard to hear what they’re saying, and RUclips’s auto generated subtitles don’t always do the trick. Which can result, for me at least, in getting a bit lost on what is sometimes being said/talked about. Because I can’t understand properly what is being said from off-screen, making me lose context and/or lagging behind because my brain has to try and figure out what was said and then lose out on what happens afterwards, leading to a spiral where I don’t really get that much out of the video unfortunately. Which is very sad, cuz I very much like these videos and all the tangents.
I saw nobody and I swear it was not Bob odenkirk in it. Like I remember watching it thinking it was this random. Nobody actor. I know who Bob odenkirk is. How did I not realize it was him?

I didn’t get the joke in the title about “Nobody” helping until the final 20 seconds of the video. 😐 Yes, even though there was a part in the video were they talked about the title. 😑
I always though of Death Wish and Dirty Harry as earlier examples. Just those guys lived hard lives and were probably in their 40's in those movies, they looked and played it like sixty year old men.

Are you sure you’re not a hat wearing llama in disguise?
I love the fact that Brian Cranston learned how to make blue crystal and Bob Odenkirk learned how to make a cinnabon.
Exactly what i came to say lol
Blue crystal is just made with food coloring. The actual process produces a semi clear crystal. He learned how to make it without the food coloring lol
Colin Firth in Kingsman also kind of fits this type. Manners maketh man. or that Church scene never would have expected anything like that from him.
As a mid 30s dad, Nobody was the ultimate fantasy movie for me lol
Anyone else wanna get into a wild car chase with russians to pat benatars heartbreaker?
No but as a public commuter I really want to do the Bus Scene :)
have you considered seeing a therapist?
Good lord, the "Seaech for Ezra Miller Minor" joke is perfect. Funniest segment/joke I've heard in a long time.
Christopher Lloyd's character has a card tattoo as well. His are two aces. Fitting as that where he went to get a gun and advice. Sorta Hutchs ace up his sleeve was his father.

My dad still has his deck of Iraqi officials

It's written by the same person, Derek Kolstad.
And has an amazing soundtrack.
@@TR1CK damn I didn’t know that.
@@TR1CK wait what?
@@marthflores3515 Nobody was written by the same person who wrote John Wick
I can’t believe nobody helped Bob odenkirk from not dying. Nobody is really good.
Fun Fact: The voice actor for Spongebob is Tom Kinney, who was a castmate of Odenkirk's on Mr. Show.
Decided to watch the movie because of the video and it is amazing. 9/10, best movie I've seen in ages
Bob Odenkirk really brings us back into a new era of Regular Joe action heroes. He's not particularly handsome, particularly fit, and he's not young. He's just a guy. I'm glad we're into this new era.
Loved this movie. I think it is probably the best one of that old man action movie thing they described
The "just google Ezra Miller minor" joke was amazing.
I loved the movie bought the digital copy ive watched it at least 8 times because i love how well they made it
You got me with a title.
Well played, sir.
*tips fedora and leaves*
Came just to say, that intro was an intro. I loved it, cried for seconds 😭
6:49 Keanu Reeves in the John Wick movies is if they got the absolute best stuntman/backup for John Wick and each and every movie their actual star can't work.
24:46 the hat hes wearing is for New Mexico United. The local soccer team for Albuquerque. Love that hometown pride he shows.
I still chuckle at the Sun Prairie firefighter with the real name of Les McBurney.

i saw "Nobody" in a drive in theater when it came out (i've seen it several times since then)
You did get me! I knew what you meant after a split-second, I was still hooked.

That's really messed up. He was having a heart attack and nobody helped him.
One of the few people that surprised me with an action role out of nowhere was Colin Firth.

Best scene in Nobody is the scene in the Tattoo store. That whole thing is hilarious
12:50 It was an American judge in an obscenity case and he said something that was essentially "I can't describe [hardcore pornography], but I know it when I see it, and this isn't it".
The bus scene convinced me to watch Nobody
Thanks. I paused your video to watch Nobody. It was ridiculously fun.

"Just google John Wick neopets" 😂
I need a rewatch of this.. I think I was drunk when I watched it.. I don't really remember it 😂
The best way to describe nobody is it a John Wick movie with obvious comedy
Nobody is one of my favourite films of all time. Thank you for covering it.
I love his whole performance of being an absolute idiot. Pure comedy. Love it so much. Four thumbs up
*looks down at 4 thumbs*
looks like today's the big day chaps
This is such a great story.

I loved Nobody!! You forgot Denzel as the Equalizer. (And Man on Fire 🔥)
Denzel has been in so many action thrillers, yet I can never buy him as an action star.
Gotta say that is a genius title. Good play on concepts, though the logo did help clue me in haha.
"It all goes back to Taken" I would suggest Commando.
I work in fraud and see aliases all the time, but Robin Mahfood KILLED ME 💀
Would love to hear some of your favourite examples, ik sometimes you can't say but always intrigued to hear from ppl that work unique jobs

Ive watched so many of these videos and the "full" versions i keep getting autoplays of the shorter edited videos showing up in my feed.

Gross Point Blank is an older movie with John Cusack where hes like an old hitman going to his high school reunion (its pretty damn entertaining)
John Cussack, do you mean Gross Point Blank? i love that film, and that Benny (The Jet) Urquidez fight scene
This was a nice surprise to come home to :)
I stopped getting your videos in my feed for whatever reason, forgot you existed and that I'm subscribed. Back again though.
Jesus, that guy locking a million bolts😂
Agreed about the title... I forgot about the movie so you got me.
I have to admit, you indeed got me with the title
I would argue Taken followed suit from Man on Fire starring Denzel Washington which came out 4 years prior.
The prompt: The king's men - Colin Firth
Dude! Bob Odenkirk is an alum of my college! It's so cool how big he's gotten.
The crazy part is Food For The Poor was founded by Ferdinand Mahfood but when there was a financial scandal they said "who better to be the face of the company than his brother, Robin Mahfood?"
I used to love Lost Prophets. I was pretty sick to hear the news and just got rid of my CDs and deleted the MP3s

Wonderful film! I actually purchased this on blu-ray and youtube😂
I mean it's a slightly different genre from Taken, but let's not forget Kingsman and Colin Firth. I'd argue he utterly stole that movie.
Heck yeah, he did! That church scene was incredible. Also the bar fight scene was so clean!
For the love of all thats good, please mic everyone up.
Didn't know snout the Michael Cane one, will have to watch it.
I love the Nicolas cage movie pig for being a subversion of the revenge movie star film, it's really exceptionally sad too
You cheeky Bastards, you got me 😂
I saw nobody and I swear it was not Bob odenkirk in it. Like I remember watching it thinking it was this random. Nobody actor. I know who Bob odenkirk is. How did I not realize it was him?
Well he was….. nobody…..
Wood, small wood. Agent 0069.
This is why he always says Bond.... James Bond. That's how he gets 1 syllable 2 syllable
This went so damn off the rails lol
Jackie chan actually does have one of those movies, isn't it called Foreigner? I remember being real shook at a jackie chan movie he's not joking and straight up killing people
Another classic video.
I mean your right, you got me, and I even seen the movie lol.
Nobody is such a rad movie.
Comedic Actors to Action Stars
Robert Downey Jr. - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Ben Stiller - Tropic Thunder
Bruce Willis - Die Hard.
The first 10 seconds of this is like having a stroke.
Man i cant wait for the Fast and Furious adaptation of the Fantastic Four, the Fastastic Folk
The first movie like that wasn't "taken" but was "man on fire" in 2004
Reminds me of the story with the Cyclops in the odyssey
Deadpool did the collat first on the bridge scene. He does a cork and shoots 3 people in the head with one shot
I thought Nobody was a superb film. :)
I didn’t get the joke in the title about “Nobody” helping until the final 20 seconds of the video. 😐
Yes, even though there was a part in the video were they talked about the title. 😑

Big fan and looking forward to the keeper shirt
7:28 Rammstein fans will be feeling this just now 😂
This title is perfect
Liam Nelson has always been an action star though.
Picture Gene Wilder going from the rules he usually did to doing the movie Taken picture Gene Wilder in Liam Neeson's world
Dear god…I started this video when I went to poop, and now I can’t feel my feet…send help!! Side note, this movie slays.
So thats why it is "Bond, James Bond"
okay i'm gonna watch it
Fast and the Furious: Fas10 your Seatbelt
It was Ana amzing movie.
Yo luv u guys fr lmao
Also luv this movie
The laughing volume increase hurt my ears
Which is the John Cusack ?
It couldn't be Gross Point Blank ...that was well before Taken
"What happened to the seatbelt rule?" Can anybody tell me where that quote is from?
16:19 What I'm getting here is that Karl's Smallwood is not hard enough.
I read that title very wrong, and got angry for a moment
