He knew that once he ascended to the afterlife, Egypt would be in trouble without his leadership so he made it his sworn duty to crush as many of his enemies as possible so that his people could live peacefully and prosper after his death. Unfortunately this faltered when later pharaohs proved to be weak and ineffective eventually leading to the collapse of the Egyptian kingdom thus paving the way for the Greek Ptolemaic Dynasty.
@@thepanda1044 True, but it was sadly in vain. Caesar's armies crushed the Ptolemaic Egyptian forces and her library in Alexandria was burned to the ground. Also, many think that Marcus and Cleopatra were lovers but this has since been disproven, Marcus Antonius was a spy for Caesar and only wanted to seduce The Queen Of The Nile for military secrets, he was partly responsible for her demise in truth.

@The Imperishable Star i'm not saying don't use them as slaves or don't use them as soldiers. i'm saying using pirates that you captured and enslaved as bodyguards is incredibly stupid. these people hate you with a burning passion and all want to kill you so why would you want them to be in charge of your security? sure it worked out somehow but man what an insane gamble.
@The Imperishable Star yea it does work that way, putting people who want to kill you in charge of your safety is fucking stupid, literally anyone other then them would be a better choice. just because it ended up working out for Ramesses doesn't make it any less stupid. stop trying to justify such a stupid decision.
Whatever criticism is heaped upon Ramesses ll one thing is for sure: He was a masterful politician and thoroughly controlled his country. Not bad for approximaty 3,300 years ago.

@@muhubobulhan6318 Didn't he live to be 90? Most Egyptologists that I've read put him in his 80s. I saw a documentary long ago that placed the cause of his death on a tooth infection that spread into his jaw and face. No antibiotics, no chance. If true, his death was pure agony.
@@Tomatohater64 there were sea salt traces on his body when he was operated on in France to prevent his body from decaying which suggests that he died from drowning since ancient Egyptians usually used natron salt to mummify.
Nefertari was allegedly very active in the political sphere as well. She corresponded directly with Pudahepa, queen of the Hittites, and following the Kadesh peace treaty helped to arrange Ramses’ marriage to one of Pudahepa’s daughters.
Another fantastic video. The story of the Egyptian-Hittite Treaty is so sad to me. They promised each other the world, but in the end when the wolves were at the Hittites' door, Egypt wasn't in a position to help. I'll always wonder whether Ramesses III would have sent help if he could.
Thank you very much! Good question. I think that he would’ve if able. Random idea but it would make for a fun alt-history video to explore if Egyptians & Hittites joined forces to locate the Sea Peoples and destroy them in their own lands
The Ittite empire destroyed itself, together with famine, no one else was involved. They did sent request for food to Egypt, in desperation. They lived in a harsh land prone to crop failure, to this days nobody lives there.
The true biblical Egyptians and the 12 tribes of Israel were black people. the black people in western, central, south, and east Africa. And for another view: I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said-"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: ‘My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!' There must be something SPECIAL about a ruler with the 'II' ordinal. Right Now, Great Britain is celebrating their GREATEST and LONGEST-REIGNING monarch, Elizabeth, II.
If i'm not mistaken, according to Herodotus, it was during King Ramses that Helen of Sparta had been brought to the Nile by accident by Prince Alexandros aka Paris.

Unfortunately this faltered when later pharaohs proved to be weak and ineffective eventually leading to the collapse of the Egyptian kingdom thus paving the way for the Greek Ptolemaic Dynasty.
Great point Seth!
Although Cleopatra did put up one hell of a fight against Rome.
This Ramses bloke seems like a humble guy.
The most humble! 😅
Great Episode!!
Thank you veryt much!
He had 200 wives and a 100 children. And he outlived most of them. Hats off to him.
Yes very impressive!
200 wives funeral
Along with 100 children funeral
😭
Ramses lost his children due to the curse from the Lord. That was the time frame that Moses was saying: let my people go.
@@4OR-Designsdifferent Pharaoh, not this one

As a copt I appreciate you using pictures of pharaohs look like us
I'm happy you think so!
@@HistoryExplained please why in your videos you don't show the real statues or the authentic representation of the pharaohs which exist and which are available on the internet easily and for free or in the museums but you show us photoshop and drawings made on photoshop? do you prefer photoshop to the reality ?
@@manimano435Because these images bring their faces to life, bro. It's a really cool differential of this channel. And honestly in all the videos i've seen, these faces are very historically accurate
The colosi of memnon statue fell apart in same earthquake 27b.c. becoming the singing statue.

Hey there so happy to see you! My family and I love your videos! 😍👩🍳#stovetopyumyum
I really appreciate that. Thank you for your support!
Great video!
Thank you!
"the pirates were capture and taken to Egypt where they were forced to be bodyguards to the pharaoh for the rest of their lives" what?
how does that make sense? i think i prefer Caesars handling of pirates, he had the right idea.
I also found that weird, but apparently it worked neh ? 😁
Why not? They got money, work and Pharaoh got soldiers.
@The Imperishable Star one thing to use slaves as cannon fodder, an entirely different one to use them as your personal bodyguard 😉
@The Imperishable Star yea it does work that way, putting people who want to kill you in charge of your safety is fucking stupid, literally anyone other then them would be a better choice. just because it ended up working out for Ramesses doesn't make it any less stupid. stop trying to justify such a stupid decision.
Amazing that he got more than 90 years old at that time !
I like learning about agent Egypt 😊
Yes, I like it so much!
Whatever criticism is heaped upon Ramesses ll one thing is for sure: He was a masterful politician and thoroughly controlled his country. Not bad for approximaty 3,300 years ago.
Great point!
Ramesses 2 was doomed in the sea after he was denying God almost 40 years and slaved Israelites. He challenged the one of the greatest messenger Musa AS and paid the price .
@@drali230 I think this will be debated by the experts for a long time to come unless something more full proof appears.

Oh yes, it's true! This is my favourite video from this channel!
Nefertari was allegedly very active in the political sphere as well. She corresponded directly with Pudahepa, queen of the Hittites, and following the Kadesh peace treaty helped to arrange Ramses’ marriage to one of Pudahepa’s daughters.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing!
@@HistoryExplained It would be a VERY fun project once we swat away all the "Sea peoples = Atlantis" folks ;)
😂
The Ittite empire destroyed itself, together with famine, no one else was involved. They did sent request for food to Egypt, in desperation. They lived in a harsh land prone to crop failure, to this days nobody lives there.
Actually, Egypt did send food aid to the Hittite empire. The support was not enough to save the Hittites.
This Pharaoh.....is the most legendary of them
Indeed
Well done. Thanks.
You’re welcome :)

Thanks Peter
And for another view: I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
‘My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away." Ozymandias was the Greek name for Ramses 11.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Was just reading about him today starting in genesis. I always been fascinated with the history of the Pharoah

Criteria is the plural form of criterion, thus ‘by that criterion…’ (6:37)
You're correct! 😅
Old Ramesses should look older. The nose and ears get longer, and he'd look much like he does in mummy form when near death, I would say. Especially considering he lived into his 80s, didn't he?
Thanks!
Plz prepare a video on Darius the great.

the bible never states which pharaoh it was
You're mixing up myth with history
It never happened. Its a myth
Ok Thierry lops with a transformers pfp, you seem to be heavily educated in ancient Egyptian HISTORY. Lol
