For many years, I lusted after the Hermes Kelly. I purchased a very particular one from a Japanese reseller (never used), just because I wanted something specific and hate the poor customer service of Hermes. I spent a lot of money and now I have four Kelly bags. I barely wear them. They are so fussy. The quality is so so. Overall it’s like mehhh. I go back to Louis Vuitton time and time again, because their bags are both functional, durable and beautiful. And this applies to both canvas and leather bags.

I think that the Hermès Chypre sandal isn’t worth it because it is a dupe…of the Birkenstock Arizona!!! Luxury isn’t just about cost but about design, craftsmanship and intention and the Birk is all that. This is why the Chypre thirst truly baffles me. There are a lot of gorgeous designer bags out here but I've only flipped over two. Both vintage. The Chanel Ligne Cambon Reporter and the Fendi Zucca Spy. I was able to get them years after they came out (2004 & 2005, respectively), pre-loved, and for great prices! And, yes, they're authentic! I rarely carry them. But I do love looking at them, lol.
I think that’s a great point about customer service. It will def make me want to buy more from a particular brand. For me, that’s Bottega. The best SAs (for me).
Hot take, I guess: Generally speaking, luxury fashion is not for gimmicks, trends or experimentation unless that's actually your style. Luxury retail is only worth splurging on if you know your style and you know what's worth your money. I see people with a more classic style and those Loewe glasses and it's really mismatched. I think those glasses are better suited for people who'd wear Comme des Garcons or Moschino or something. I don't have regrets like that because I know what I makes sense for me and what's worth it.

The question is what was your pre spend. If you take the pre spend plus the price of the bag, equals to close to or over the 20k mark. So if one wants only the bag in a specific color/ hardware/ leather than the resale mkt is the best way bc the pre spend to get ones specific bag will be well over the 20k plus you now have things that you bought only to get the bag and will soon sold on resale
