Way late to the party, but I want to point out a thing that I have noticed. During the scene where the shoes of the girl are hanging there is a shoe missing which can be related to the story of cinderella where she lost her shoe and the prince finds her with that. And tobi's brother was finding for the lost shoe (which can mean metaphorically something but I don't know what)
The paper turning to blood may be a suicide note ,the gun being held towards the mask dude may be him wanting to kill himself, thinking of himself as a monster or bad person.
Oh those are some nice interpretations! The monster or zingai as they call it could be the more negative side of him which can be killing himself or overcoming his negative self. Zingai are thought to come out during stress or trauma based on Eve’s manga but still a mystery.
The masked guy is the embodiment of his negative emotions and stuff, and because of the masked guy he loses the girl. The girl being surrounded by the yellow tape is her at the crime scene where the guy takes his life. His remains are in the trash can, similar to how the mannequins' parts were in the trash can before, that must've been him considering suicide. Eve makes these catchy songs about some real dark stuff lol
I had a very different interpretation, lol I always thought of the girl as more of a manipulative person. When she was leading him, it was playful, like leading him on - and he was desperately chasing her. Also, the shoes - leaving your shoes behind is a common thing people in Japan do before committing suicide, not to mention that the shoes are all hanging. I think she might be the type of person who manipulates and/or gaslights others and drives them to the edge. Her biting into one of those hanged shoes and drawing blood only furthers that it might be referencing that in my mind. Also, the line of "You're all too kind taking care of me - even though I don't remember it, whenever you say anything you make that sort of face." (Paraphrasing a translation, mind you). This line, in my mind, makes a lot of sense towards gaslighting and being mistreated by the girl and/or an entire community of people, maybe family. People who are talking about how much they've done for him, despite having done nothing but hurt him, basically. As for the trash, I thought the trash can constantly being referenced was saying how people saw/treated the boy like trash - possibly including the girl, or himself, and also possibly referring to how he wanted to "throw himself away". I think the masked man is probably his own insecurity and negative emotions, further fed bt the girl and the possible others who are hurting him. The masked man is banging on the table for food, and the girl says something that causes the boy to look at her, possibly in surprise when he realizes she's feeding his negativity, and starts to doubt that she's the kind person he thought she was. I'm not entirely sure if he does actually die in the end, if the masked man is part of him, since the masked man was looking down at the remains - it could symbolize that he lost to his negative thoughts and died, but it could also just be that he lost himself metaphorically. Eve songs are always very interesting and I find that they usually can be interpreted many different ways, so I found it interesting how different my interpretation is from others that I've seen, lol
The girl can go either way. She does act funny and she does more strange things in the Tokyo ghetto short animation trailer 0.8. The being treated like trash is a really nice interpretation. Most people do see janitor or mask man to be the boys negative feelings. Referred to as a shadow zingai. People lean more to the character being dead. We see his remains again in how to devour life. Yeah it's pretty nice looking at others thoughts
YES! I thought I had completely interpreted this music video wrong. The girl gave off such a manipulative vibe the entire video. It seemed as though she bit into those shoes with a look of pleasure and a desire for blood. It made me think she may be a rather ominous, controlling, and apathetic person who is inconspicuously feeding into the boy’s anxieties. That could have also been the boy making her appear more tainted since he himself was in a very dark place. I had also interpreted his death as a metaphorical one instead. I thought it was the death of his character, aspirations, and pretty much everything that made him his own person. The line “Kimi wa kyou mo stay” also seemed sort of demanding/suggestive as opposed to pleading. I assumed it was the girl speaking to him, but I guess it could have been him trying to motivate himself to go on another day. I may be translating that badly too since I’m not the greatest at Japanese. Anyway you took the words right out of my mouth. I didn’t notice the part with the masked man banging on the table so thank you for bringing that to my attention.
@@EveExplained yeah it seems like his own shadow devoured him Btw it was said there are some people chasing Seki (probably not people but shadows) and he was nowhere to be found (probably because he was chopped chopped and was put in the trash can as shown in the music video)
I always thought that the Girl was a thought of hope and everything he wanted, but Mask guy (His inner demons) sotp him from getting to them. Eventually letting his emotion get to him, killing im. Also water in eve seems to represent sadness and pain, as seen in yoruwa honoko, where Akame is overtaken by it and gives up.
You could apply this to the Eve manga actually. The repeated imagery of The Masked Man preparing to eat the boy is reminiscent of How To Eat Life and his heart form seems tor be something that he had lost awhile ago. The white haired version of the boy seems to represent the fragments of what may have been his heart which can now only appear for momentary flashes in time as he may have already “consumed” it. This would compliment the themes of the song really well as the boy gets help multiple times from the girl and may have even been taken in by her or her family from the lyrics that say “Y’all are so kind for taking care of me”. His heart form is what I think is the best representation for his complete abandonment of hope.
I'm very late to the party and someone's probably already picked up on this but I just wanted to give my thoughts: The part of the song that plays at about 45 seconds into Tokyo Ghetto sounds exactly like the chorus of "As You Like It." The main difference is that the version of this beat in As You Like It is a lot more upbeat, whereas the one in Tokyo Ghetto is more subdued. Reasons I thought this was worth pointing out: -both songs are about anxiety. -both songs feature a young boy as our protagonist, a female love interest, and a tall masked figure stopping our protagonist. -in As You Like It, the protagonist overcomes his anxiety and even seems to make friends with the Handman, but the boy in Tokyo Ghetto can't do the same and loses to the blue masked man, possibly explaining the difference in tone. PS: this could be a stretch, but the characters from both songs make cameos in both Don't Replay The Boredom and How To Eat Life which are both songs where the protagonist sees everyone else as having better lives than them. This could mean that our protagonist from Tokyo Ghetto is still alive and doing fairly decent in life.
While watching Tokyo Ghetto I noticed that at the end of the song Hitotsume is sitting in the chair that the boy and the mask guy was sitting in, not sure if that means anything though, could be just a reference to Hitotsume, or it could prove that this song is connected idk
