The funniest parts in this episode was the old man randomly visiting Stark and saying "I have nothing left to teach you" and Denken picking up a new granddaughter lol. I could DEFINITELY see him being that kinda guy lol.
I honestly thought he was her grandfather from last episode. When she tried saving him because she thought Frieren would hurt him, I felt like it was very possible he was her grandfather. She didn't think about IF she would save him; she only thought about HOW she would save him.
Nothing. It's just that people sometimes expect anime to have that weird "fetish". Even though this one doesn't. Given that her brothers work and travel a lot, there is good likelihood that some of them didn't see her for more than a year. I'm very glad that they remembered about her and bought her something. She would just be more happy if the presents weren't clothes. Which to be fair she looks extremely good in, but it might not be the look she wants.
Yep, Stark the cowardly warrior, Fern the disgraceful mage and Sein the corrupt priest. And Frieren is now the Hero, leading and inspiring others and changing people's lives. I love it so much!
Ton = the sound or the shade (of a colour) Methode = the method Länge = the length Blei = the lead (meaning the metal) Edel = noble, gallant Dünste = the fumes Lecker = delicious, tasty Fresser = the glutton, the devourer
13:15 There’s this one episode of Friends where someone tells Phoebe that there’s no such thing as a selfless good deed. I’m glad to hear Himmel recognize that he not only wants to be a hero because it’s the right thing to do, but that a little part of him also likes the idea and feeling that comes with helping those in need. He’s been so wise and understanding of so much
I felt so gratified when he said that. My friends and people always praise how kind my actions are, and in extension, how kind I am. But I always feel guilty and undeserving when they assume that, despite me not really looking or asking for anything in return. Like, I don't do it for any noble reasons, a part of me like the thought of being remembered as a helpful person. I always felt like I'd be "found" out to be a fraud (of what? idk). Guess there's a reason they call it imposter syndrome lmao.
You asked who the new hero is going to be and I think the direction the story is taking is that we aren’t supposed to view Frieren as the party’s mage. Fern fills that slot, stark is obviously the warrior, and sein is the priest. I believe Himmel left an effect of Frieren and now she’s acting more and more like him and we’re supposed to see her as this party’s hero.
First of all, I don't understand English, so I'm sorry if my English is weird. I love your reaction. The new character's name seemed difficult to pronounce, so I'm not sure if the pronunciation will be easy to understand, but I'd like to write a pronunciation that is similar to Japanese. Ton is tone. methode is metode. (It is pronounced like stretching the "o" of "meto" between "meto" and "de.") Länge is Lenge. Blei is Bulai. Dunst, Dounst. (The "u" is a small "u".) The pronunciation that is similar to Japanese sounds like this. Good luck, Frieren and Fern. I want denken to do his best and pass. I wonder how great this anime will turn out to be. This is the first anime I've ever seen that was this great.
Fern had to grow up so quickly after her parents death and knowing she would lost Heiter sooner than later too. I thinks that's why she is childish sometimes? She is overcompensating now she has a stable family surrounding her ^^
Agreed. Fern likes to act like she's a mature adult, but fails at it whenever she requires emotional maturity. Frieren likes to act youthfully mischievous, is able to step up and be the adult in the room whenever the situation calls for it
Stark at the beginning of the episode is literally me living the life of no responsibilities. The big difference is that I don’t have a Fern to deal with.
It feels like Himmel's true objective was never to defeat the Demon King, but to be there for Frieren on the journey there. That dude went above and beyond for the one he loves. Never seen anything else like it.
Just love the pacing of the storytelling. This anime never rush to next climax but takes time to tell a story properly with all vivid characters. You remembered almost all the side characters even they might not appear in future story after the first class exam.
That might explain why people cannot pass her exam. Lets be honest, most of the mages who cleared the first exam are not the sharpest. With Denken and Freiren as exceptions, maybe that Land guy too.
In German, 's' followed by a vowel is pronounced like 'z', and 's' followed by a consonant is pronounced like 'sh', I heard. (I'm Japanese) So 's' for 'Stark' is pronounced like 'sh' and 's's for 'Sein' 'Eisen' and 'Sense' are pronounced like 'z'.
As mentioned you get "sh" sound in German only if after it there is "p" or "t". So "Stark" would sound like "Shtark" and "Sport" sounds like "Shport". However it is much "harder" (? I don't know, if I'm choosing word correctly, they pronounce the name "Stark" decently in this anime) than your average "Shi" (し) is in Japanese (I always learned that it isn't like westerners pronounce "Sushi" - the "shi" is much "lighter" - which makes pronunciation very easy for me, because I'm Polish and it is very similar to polish "Ś") - at least in basic Tokyo dialect that is taught abroad. For those who know basic mandarin, it is close to it's "Xi". And of course depends on the word. Japanese is quite hard to learn, so I'm thankful that Polish has all the sounds almost exactly as Japanese. If we go back to your example however - "Sense" wouldn't necessarily be spoken with "z" - it would NOT sound like Japanese "zenzen". However German dialect I was learning, would make those "S" sound harder. I don't know how to describe it. It would be 90% like "Se" and 10% like "Ze". But again, German is the language of many dialects. I'm sure there will be some that would pronounce it closer to "z" than others. Pronunciation of "Sense" in the show goes slightly too much in "Z" direction, but it's obvious they try very hard. And it would be understandable for German speakers.
That’s the second time Stark was approached and felt up/checked out by complete strangers. Did the guy whose son died a few episodes back do the same thing to him? Poor Stark
1:36 Think the ‘bit’ with minding their names is that they tend to give a sneak peek at a characteristic of theirs (like, Frieren meaning ‘freezing’ with her disliking being cold, or Ubël meaning ‘evil’ and her demeanor being shady AF), but, that’s even more involved/effort than saying their names correctly.
13:13 There probably won't be a new Hero. I mean, the Demon Lord has been defeated, and everyone thinks that it was Himmel who took the Hero's sword, and it was buried along with him.
Fun Fact: There is a YuGiOh card named "Yubel", which her name is also German. So yeah, YuGiOh players call her "You-Bel" while everyone else calls her "Oo-bel"
Sensei says she’s a pacifist, but she’s sending everyone on a dungeon crawl!? What exactly are we supposed to expect from that, just a little bit of mining for gems and precious stones? The only real danger will be whether or not it collapses while they’re inside.
Sense is the type of pacifist who is against “war” but has no real objection to violence. She objected to Genau setting up his test to make the examinees have to fight and kill each other, so her test will have not have that. But fighting monsters and traps ina dungeon? (And perhaps having to work together with each other to do so?) All fair game.
I haven't read the manga but I don't think Denken will pass the exam. I think he will tag along with our adventure group to get to where he wants to go XD
German name in japanise anime translated to English, pronounced incorrecly by Japanise voice actor. What could possibly go wrong? In my opinion it doesn't matter how you pronounce it since meaning behind the word is clear anyway.
Himmel is ABSOLUTELY saying what he say in the restaurant for frieren. He intentionally provoke the chef by saying she should find a better taste elsewhere and then ask for the unchanging taste as a reward. That restaurant wouldn’t exist in the present without frieren and himmel.
In terms of names, I don't care much, but I would just listen to what they say in the anime, use that, or if it was not said yet, then just don't mind how you pronounce it. It ain't that deep, people need to chill.
I just want to say. I heard that it is ban to lewd Frieren (anime itself). So no H for them. And I am just happy cuz I don't want to see random NSFW pictures to any social media flat form 😂.

They are basically 3 big babies taking turns being adult.
Honestly Fern and Stark already act like an old married couple lol
