This is a really nice motivational speech...but, it's certainly not a sermon. The Proverbs passage was taken out of context and the Philippians passage isn't about gaining peace from having your "minds and hearts more open to God". The peace comes from a total surrender of yourself to follow Christ. These are the types of messages that happen when you believe that God's Word was given to us to help us live a better life instead of God giving us His Word in order to know Him more. EVERY story and passage in the Bible is about revealing the character of God, and then holding it up as a mirror to examine how we are doing at looking more like Him.
