    We’re a little warmer than you guys and we still got frost every night during that sunny week. I was busy covering everything in the greenhouse with blankets!!! Some of the cool weather plants are fine as long as they have some protection 😊🌱 Hope that you have a great gardening summer!

      This week the forecast calls for lows in the low 40s. My wife is going to plant some stuff this week. We will keep our fingers crossed 🤞
      Hope you have a successful season as well.

    Ya'll have the green garden itch...😂 They'll do phenomenal this season, I can feel it. You know you can take the recoil pull cord off the motor and just wind a cord on the flywheel right? It'll get you back in the game..😅 Love ya'll ❤

    Good practices with the poll starts with those spring in em that always break and stuff is get the old fashioned part it goes on the flywheel that you you can wrap a rope around and pull it that way I always have one on hand so if I got to get a new spring all they have to do is take the cover off bolt the wrap around part on and then at least you can still use your motor You probably know just as well as I do is when you're using those spring poll starts ropes and the springs always end up breaking sooner or later

    Hello. It's always nice when the Robin's return. I haven't seen any on the Kenai yet. Although I did hear a Thrush a few weeks ago. Maybe those Robin's that took off on you on the beach are headed my way. 😂Another sign of spring is the return of the Seagulls. Those returned here on the 24th of March. In 13 years of living on the Kenai, I've yet to see a Hummingbird. Happy gardening my friend! Good to see you.

    So, gotta question about the netting you put around the garden area. Why did you put it on the inside of your posts? Cause the animals, if they try to get into the garden, will be pushing in. It would be better to put it on the outside of the posts, wouldn't it?

    • @AnAlaskaHomestead
      @AnAlaskaHomestead  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes it would. The electric fence should keep all the big animals out of the garden. I put it on the inside so we can take it down in the winter.

    One thing about rhubarb never cut it. Twist and pull it out, so it will spread and make more. If you cut it you will stunt it and it will only produce just a few stalks not even enough for a pie.

    I am trying to go to dual purpose chickens and then you can eat them when they're done laying eggs after they're two years got a couple barred rocks but they're so mean they don't like the rooster to jump on them they beat him up made the mistake and bought some chickens from the feed store they were supposed to be Easter egger and a couple other ones that lay colored eggs turned out to be part silky chickens complained about it to their head office and yeah they gave me $20 back but the cost to raise those to find out they were just silkies was much more than $20 so I stopped buying chickens and finally got a big rooster out of incubate my own eggs got to get a new incubator my mind's no good bought a cheap one off of Amazon only word once take the parts out of it made my own styrofoam cooler can't get the humidity to stay but we'll work it out just take time
