Oh Tessie I am so glad I saw this video. It may be 7 years old but just what I needed. Hubby got 10 lbs on onions. Now I know how to use all those onions. Thanks. 😊
Thank you Tessie. I have seen other onion soup videos and they all cook the onions first. I like your idea of raw pack instead and will try it this way. I also do not boil my lids when pressure canning nor do I sterilize my jars. I simply wash in hot soapy water first. I do sterilize jars and heat lids when I am water bath canning.
I got a years worth of onions put by this weekend from the garden's harvest. We're so blessed.
can you show us some of your cooking too, the way you talk about your cooking makes it sound so good, thank you for sharing!
Yes I will show more in future video's
Thank you Tessie for teaching me this easy way to preserve my onions.
The onions are pretty God bless you and have a fantastic day.
Love this idea. I am an onion freak! I would use my own stock and probably add salt and Worcestershire sauce after cooking. Great guidelines. I will be using your leadership on this as soon as we get moved next month. I have had a brand new canner for a year and have yet to be settled enough to use it. BTW, you are the first YTuber I met on FB before anything. Thanks for reaching out, Tess. Peace, Vicki
Here I am again, my daughter and I are making your onion soup again. ITS AMAZING GOOD. We made a bunch last time couple times over last 2 years and it has been a hit for anyone we have over. What I love is that it is a easy base then to add my canned veggies and soup in a minute. I know at this time your family is going through the loss of both your parents. Again I am so sorry my sister in Christ, but know you are continually in our prayers and thoughts as you walk this tough road. Hugs and love to you all
this was great..never thought of canning onions..and gonna try it..your tips really help alot..thank you
yum I have to try that - I love soups. And I love the idea of havingready onions to have in stews and what not - thank you Tessie. /Tez
Excellent thank you.
Thanks for sharing this . I'm gonna have to purchase a pressure canner I don't own one. Have a blessed day.
Tessie, We live in a small town and there are two grocery stores, but none have bones There is a private meat processing place in town. The butcher there processes fresh off the trailer just one at a time, the walk off. They come from grass fed farms and are pasture raised. So these cattle have had a stress free life and are quickly put down. I get all the bones from the butcher free. We do a trade out, he tells me what he wants me to bake for he and his crew. That has been cookies, sweet rolls and the like. I usually get about 75 pounds of fresh bones with lots of meat. It is great and I get to have beef stock that I can for soups, etc. You might want to see who processes deer in your area and see if they do private processing or they may know of someone who does. Blessings, Jo Ann
I will look into it :) thank you
wow so simple! love your video! thank u
😊 TY
Happy Monday Tessie, thank you.
Your Onions look great Tessie. You are right, they can be used so many ways. Love you sweet sister. God Bless Y'all. Hugggggggs
I'm taking notes. You have another very informative video on canning and I just purchased my very first 16 qt. Pressure Canner online and it should be here next week. I can hardly wait. Thank you so much Tessie!
Love the idea of making the base for French onion soup. My husband does not eat it, but I love it. This way, I can make the base and then add just enough for me to have a lovely meal. You have always been a great instructor for all your canning items.
You and I think a lot alike. I saw your video and said watch Tessie she does things a lot like you do, with a lot less fuss like the others go through, work smarter not harder. I'll probably use my go to for beef broth (since we haven't been buying a lot of beef lately) knoor beef broth granules I love the flavor of that. We recently got six pounds of onions on sale so I figured I'd try this canning recipe and easier for me is always good.
I love this comment !!!! thank you!!!
@@HomesteadTessie most welcome thanks for sharing your frugal knowledge it's needed now more than ever. I've always tried to be frugal one out of necessity and now to save.
Had no idea you could can onions like that. Fantastic!
I’m so happy to learn how to can this soup-I love French onion soup!! Thank you❤️
Thanks for sharing your recipe. I've been thinking about making some onion soup but didn't want to break the bank. I buy a lot of things from the Dollar Tree but never thought about beef broth.
My Tessie you can even use the broth to make gravy YUM YUM💕
I'm slowly working up the courage to try pressure canning with my Mom in law's old Presto! I just need to watch more of your videos!!
As the summer rolla along you will see many pressure canning videos:)
Just added 50 lbs of onions to process, and I'm so happy to try your method! I am going to make my own veggie broth, first, using the veggie scraps I have saved over the past several months, and using that broth with my onions! Thank you, Tessie for sharing :)
Sounds great!
You are teaching me so much. I am learning how to can and you have taken the fear out of it for me. It is not as hard as I imagined it to be. Thank you so much, sweet Tessie!
Love this, making it today!! I really enjoy your videos!! You make me feel welcomed. Please don’t stop making videos. I watch them after I’m done with all my chores 😊
I should be so disciplined! I watch them before all my chores!
Excellent! Thank you!
Awesome idea Tessie! I have several bundles of onions hanging out in our tractor shed that I was going to dehydrate but guess what I will be doing with them now? Thank you!
Awesome Tessie! Gonna put this on my list of to do's! Thanks for sharing!
I always make sure my rag has been dipped in vinegar for wiping the rims of my jars to make sure any oils or anything that would interfere with the seal has been wiped away with the vinegar
I really enjoy your canning ventures! I would not be heart broken if you did a new serious when you get thick into your harvest season!
A Nice easy way to make french onion soup. Love this video cause I would spend quite a bit of time sauteing the onions and putting it all together to can the soup. I use a little red wine in mine and the alcohol cooks out. Beautiful jars you did a wonderful job...
Good idea on the red wine. I agree. I am looking forward to making this!
yes many do call fro red wine which is great I just did not want the extra expense :)
Totally understand! It was on my shopping list for three weeks before I got a small bottle of cooking wine. That I can't make myself :) Peace.
Good morning. Thank you.
I always can my onions just like you taught me in this video. The other ways are just oo much ant your method is so versatile. ❤
Thank you so much !!
I think this is what I was looking for. I just made French onion soup and it took forever. I saved this video.

I think this is a wonderful idea! O so many ways to use that even onion gravy. You've inspired me to can onions this way. Thanks Tessie!
Deb I can this every year ,and It is so good to have it on the shelf
Excellent!! Thank you! Just what I needed for today!!
Thank you. I was looking to dehydrate my 30 pounds of Vidalia Onions and the can them into F.O.S. DRied onions, or fresh onions is a volume thing. This is SO much easier. And if I want soup, add more broth. Again, thank you and those jars look wonderful. God Bless and stay safe.
Hi Tessie, If you poke a hole on top at the opposite end the broth will come out nice and smooth instead of blurpping at you.
thank you great tip !
Did I miss this or just forget? What a great way to preserve onions It seems like I can't make a meal without onions!💕💓💕
You can use the broth if not using it for soup to make a gravy.
Tessie, I love this! I've been buying freeze dried :(
I canned balsamic caramelized onions. Very delicious. I’m so happy to see this vid. Thank you
Going to have to try this! But ill use homemade veggie broth instead.
Wow this looks so good Tessie! And easy too.
This looks really good! Local cash n carry has 50# bags of onions for less than. $10. I'll be making this recipe. The seasonings sound perfect. Thanks for another great recipe!!

What a great idea!! I never thought of that!!and I do a lot of canning.
Good video and thanks for sharing
Love the video. The onions look so good they got my mouth watering!
I worked in restaurants years ago and we used to peel the onions under water. Put the onions in a sink and cover them with water then peel. I would think it would work for cutting them up also.
Yum!
Gonna try!!
Thanks Tessie😊
I am so glad I found you on RUclips
I am gonna try the onions. I also will try the Celery.thank you for your post
A bay leaf and pepper would be good.
Looks beautiful!!! Well done!!!
Great idea for preserving onions! TFS 💜

I took breaks :) and went back at it :) I use any I have Never had any problem no matter what Kind I used :)
Thank you I needed to find out what I couldn't not can in the black pot canner
Thank you, Tessie! I love your videos and I learn sooooo much🥰👍🏻
I'm so glad!
Love this. So many uses for onion soup!
I accidentally found your channel, you have good videos and I subscribe.
I even do this . And I will can up onions in 1/2 pints to Oh and celery to same 1/2 pints great for soups n more yummm
Great idea for celery! Many times I only use a couple of stems of the celery stalk and the rest goes to waste. You can't buy just 1 or 2 pieces here. This is a great way to use it all!
Love French Onion Soup!! Our Dollar Tree doesn't have nearly anything that other Dollar Trees have and our grocery store doesn't have anything but ham slices that are pretty thin.
Found you about month or two ago. Greatly enjoying your youtube. Thank you.
thank you so Much Jeannine !! I am so happy to have you here !
