- A lot of you were asking how I swapped my transmission so I decided to make a short video on what you would need to manual swap your MX83!
This video goes over all the different parts you would need to swap a manual transmission, in this case a Toyota W58 transmission into your Toyota Cressida MX83.
-Reverse Wiring Pictures-
The clip is on the end of your wiring harness, it clipped into the old auto transmission.

This is very helpful bro! Make some more videos on the cressida!
yuh
Fun fact
Most of the X80 Cressidas in turkey left the factory with a manual tranny
Though the only engine available was the 1G-FE
just bought a mx73! this helps out alot!
BoostPanda glad it helped!
Hi, what was the bushes used to get the angles correct, so less vibration. My son did the swap with w58 but not sure about the bushes used.
@@luciuswoo2928 not sure exactly what you are referring to
How fun is the car with the transmission and that 7M engine? I know this video six years old you probably may or may not see this.
@@Sick_Boy. made the car way more fun to drive, may not be worth it to manual swap now though. Depends on if you can find a w58 for a good price
Lower music abit when ur talking
great info but the music is a little loud over your voice
thanks man so helpful
No problem, glad you liked it!
just to let you know. with the auto ecu you can basically no lift shift. ;)
My luck I would destroy my clutch if I tried it haha!
where are you located bro?
Hey you think these parts woukd work on an 89 chaser as well?
I am not sure, if they have the same engine and auto trans then they should work with maybe some minimal fab work
@@ColossusCo I've been searching around and seems like people usually use the r154 which also works on the cressida so I thought the w58 would
@@nathanobrien9227 yeah they would definitely work. I don’t know about what bellhousing/driveshaft would match exactly though. The w58 from the MK3 Supra fit perfectly to my 7MGE bellhousing and all. I just had to make a new trans mount
@@ColossusCo great ill try that, I want to keep it mostly stock but the automatic trans just sucks lol
been waiting for someone to do this for so long, got a w40 im gonna put in my cressi any tips there. i know its gonna be weak af but its nearly imposible to find anything else here
Sorry I don't have any experience with that, I would look on the forums and see if anyone has info there
Did you have deal with a blinking o/d light after the swap? We just swapped ours and am trying to see if its something we can get rid of.
Ratchet Finesse nope, didn't have any lights come on
thanks, guess i'll just pull the bulb
I gotta figure out how to get rid of the light also
I read somewhere that you lose ABS because of some of the wiring. does your car have ABS? does it still work? did you do any wiring for it?
mx83 does not have ABS
@@imaakillaa it was optional. Mine had ABS.
Does the w58 have to be remote shift version?
Colossus Co. thanks for that, currently building one and having trouble finding if it needs to be remote or not
Colossus Co. Do you know of anywhere that does off the shelf coil overs for mx83 or what other models of cars coilovers that would fit?
xTuggz yeah check my coilovers video, BC racing has great coilovers
please help me,is there any car same absober with this model?hard to find in my country..
qazzar87 as in shocks? I do not think so
So its mean have to find same model?
qazzar87 most people just buy aftermarket coils from BC racing or serialnine
qazzar87 jzx81 and other JDM stuff may work but it would need modification. I've also heard of s13 stuff being able to work
Thanks for infomation my friend..
spoiler update??
trying to get it perfect before I glass it!
