I think Tanjiro and Giyuu both did well against Akaza. It isn't who contributed more, but did both carry each other? Answer is yes, Giyuu stepped in to help Tanjiro and fought even after a life-threatening injury. Tanjiro pushed forward and got the first swipe that took Akaza's head off. In the end tho, Akaza's own self ended the fight as he remembered his past lover and how she wouldn't want this.
