I've been developing my studio, and it's my goal to have a well-rounded but relatively modest and budget-friendly set of mics. It's affirming to be actively considering (or already have) the mics in your set up. Thank you for sharing!
Shure KSM32 is amazing I think. It's open and "airy" without being harsh. Sm7B is also a favorite, but sometimes I get problem with my "esses". With KSM32 I don't even need a De-esser.
That's the comment I've been looking for. I don't know whether you'll read it or not, but esses has been my nightmare since I've start using rode nt1. So I've been on lookout to my next sibilant rejecting mic, I've came across some comments and videos of KSM32, and it looks like it's a bullseye 🎯
My SM7B is my favourite vocal mic ... I also have a Sony c800 g which is a straight up beast but for loud rap vocals the SM7B is the best , I actually prefer darker mics I think that’s why I like the SM7B .. my Sony c800 g is Better for singers... I also own a rhode k2 ,SM7 original oldskool one , sm57 , and a Neumann u87 🔥🔥🔥
I have both the NT1a and the NT2a...as Sean said, the NT1a is pretty bright...compared to it the NT2a is much better balanced and neutral...add in the multiple patterns and attenuation and it's a killer all-around mic for less than 400.00...
DONT GET THE NT1-A it’s over hyped in the top end and makes for a sibilant mess and cheap unnatural sound , GET THE NT1 it doesn’t have the over hyped top end making it more balanced and natural sounding (Bryson tiller recorded his biggest and his breakout song “Dont” & his 2nd biggest hit “Exchange” with it.
Thanks Sean, with this video you remind me to my first KSM32 that I sell many years ago due to my ignorance of that period. I’m in love again and thinking to buy it again. Many people classified it as a dark tone, maybe in conparison with more budget mics that exagerate the hight frequences? I think that today it can be one of the most balanced tone mics out there. Thanks for sharing your precious opinion
It's certainly a great mic! I wouldn't describe it as dark, unless the preamp it's paired with is causing that. KSM32 has a high end boost / brightness that adds a pleasant air :)
Nice review Sean! 👍🏽 Question: For a room that's not treated and using a Scarlet 2i4 pre-amp, between the Rode Broadcaster and the Sure SM7B mic, which one in your opinion would be best for not picking up (or picking up minimal) computer noise / house noise, etc?
The sm7b rejects room noise / reflections well. The broadcaster is a better sounding mic overall imo, it’s more sensitive though so it will pick up any room issues
Hi Sean, what are your thoughts if any on the Behringer C-1 condenser mic? I have a voice that ranges from Tenor to Baritone, and sing almost everything (except Reggaeton). I sure would appreciate your advice. Great video as usual and by some sort of coincidence this subject matter has given me a lot of doubts.
Bro I just wanted to buy dt 770 pro headphones for mixing which ohms is best and which cheap and best amp is best to use the headphones and I'm using mid 2012 Mac book pro plz answer me brother love you from India 🇮🇳😘😍
I have both dt770, 80ohm and 250ohm... Definitely I suggest 80ohm, the sound is very close to my focal alpha 65 speakers nice, clear and pleasing you can work very comfortable.. The 250ohm are too harsh no matter pres you use and after several months of burn you can't even record with them, your ears will burn too..
Hey Sean, have you tried the R0DE ProCaster? I have one...it's not really an SM7 killer, but it's pretty much on par with the EV RE20...a lot of mic for the money...
Sean bro another one I want to ask there is a acedemic offer for soundtoys 5 bundle. I just want to buy them for 149 dollars but the thing is they have to know my soundengineering course details so plz suggest me to them that I'm your student from 1 year plz bro so that I can buy them cheap try to understande bro 😉😘
Interesting as I have a C3000 and find it very brittle and sibilant so I am searching for a less ssssibilant mic and the Shure ksm32/42 seem to be smoother from what my research is telling me.
Thanks for sharing. That being said, I guess this rookie has to swim through a large area of the unknown regarding vocal microphones. I am jumping all over this video and discover that the first BUDGET microphone is $549 and then $700. If that is low budget, I will move on to another hobby.
Wow....your gear on amazon is pretty pricey for us beginners . I would call that budget gear at all...but your review as good , I must say. Are you ok with selling the Rode nt1 for a good price ... I'm looking around for deals and discounts on gear, to kick start my home studio for voice over...
Dope video Sean. I’m always impressed with you’re professionalism and just how clean your videos are. (I hope that makes sense lol) I use a blue yeti and Shure sm58 for rapping. I’m not sure why, but I think my sm58 picks up more noise than my blue yeti. But I enjoy both Mics. Im not sure if you are familiar with the blue yeti... but how do you think it would compare to the Rode NT usb?! P.S. when are you going to drop the link to your hidden ASMR channel ? 😂 #SeanDivineASMR

Good choice!
thanks Sir Divine, learnt a lot BTW. Thanks again.
Glad to hear that!

I'm thinking of getting rode nt2a. (Been saving for a while)
I want to use for video tutorials, rap and singing vocals

@@DavidSJ_DAP thanks 😅
Which mic do you think is better NT1 or Akg c214 or NT1000 for rap vocals (for a female)? I can’t decide which one would be better, pls reply
Ive heard the c214 is a 10/10 on females
Ksm32 was my first condesor. I thought it sounded really bright(essy). Sold it after a few years but kind of regretted it once my mixing improved
Demetrius Barnes it can definitely be a bit bright for certain vocal types. With a good deesser, it’s top notch!
Akg p 420 or c214 or rode nt2 for rap vocals????

@@SeanDivine Ahh! Ok. Thanks for your reply and your input. Much appreciated! 👊🏽 🙂
I am using an Aston Spirit with an ART pro channel tube preamp. beautiful clear sound.
I have the Samson CO1. Do you think that’s good for rap?
I doubt if the K2 power supply has a Valve also?

I have DT 770 250 Ohm for this purpose and I think they are the best. On a budget amp I guess that focusrite scarlett 2i2 is a good start.

Shure ksm27 all the way
Have you tried a rode nt1?
@@kaybee8781 yes, all rodes are shit, except k2
@@MaleInMarchMusic tbf they’re meant for picking up vocals not instruments
Hey Sean, have you tried the R0DE ProCaster? I have one...it's not really an SM7 killer, but it's pretty much on par with the EV RE20...a lot of mic for the money...
I have! The broadcaster is in a different league imo but it’s still a great mic
Yo Sean. How’s the mic output level in the NT1?
Hey Sean!! I have the Audio Technica AT4040!! What do you think of it?
Just record and enjoy of your mic

I mentioned 3 mics here that are well under $400... the NT1, NT1-usb and sm7b. Great mics for the price 👍
Cry baby 🤣🤣
I bought a AKG C214 as my first mic about 2 years ago, does anyone with more experience than me know if it’s any good, or should I plan on upgrading?
Its a very nice mic I had record with this mic totally u dont need to upgrade
can you please do a mix with waves abby roads studio 3 PLEASE?
I have a recording microphone but I still can hear a little bit of noise and like wave sound

you get what you pay for and these are by far the best bang for the buck imo. I'm not parting with my NT1s :)
@@SeanDivine hmmmmm ok, I can respect that....so. what would you part with ?
I've gotten some pretty good recordings out of the scarlett studio package. The first gen cm25 mic sounds ways better than the 2nd gen mic.
Why are mics so fucking expensive?
