Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to figure this out since I got a streamdeck.
Glad to help.
Great Lesson Paul.
Thank you
Happy to help. I need to update it to include midi control, too (that works on both Mac and windows).
I have accomplished this on Windows using software called ShowCockpit that takes General MIDI from Pro7 and outputs to Companion to trigger buttons...awesome for automation!
Good to know. I’ll look into it for a future tutorial.
FYI. Work is underway within the core of Companion to add MIDI support (including remote pressing of buttons). It will take some time - but should hopefully be in a beta build sometime over the next month or so. That will allow Pro7 on both Windows and Mac to send MIDI to Companion for triggering button presses.
@@greyshirtguy1580 did MIDI support made out Beta?
Hey Paul! Thanks for this. It really helped me out! Question... I'm trying to control mixer scenes in Studio One 5 with ProPresenter 7. Any thoughts or suggestions on how I might do that? I can map keyboard shortcuts in Studio One 5 to control mixer scenes (specific scene by number, next scene, and previous scene), and according to PreSonus tech support I can control scenes via MIDI CC (not MIDI notes).
Look to see if there’s a small midi not to Midi cc app you can use between the two. Maybe look for studio one in companion too.
@@PaulClifford Studio One is not in Companion at the moment. I'll look into the MIDI note to MIDI CC option. Thanks!
Hey! For some reason Rosstalk is not showing up under communications in Macros. Yet, I've got it setup and connected under devices. Wondering what I'm doing wrong here...
What version of pro7 are you on?
I want to control Propresenter on Playback app on the Mac, both applications are on the same Mac computer. I should be able to do this but no one has any videos on this at all!
Playback app? Is there a companion module for it?
@@PaulClifford no. I don't think so. We have TV monitors onstage and we run the lyrics there on Ableton or playback. I want to do it through playback and output propresenter into the TV on the same Mac that I run the tracks too. Every video is about going into another computer that has pro presenter.
@@charlesmarkm can playback send midi, like Ableton?
@@charlesmarkm Oh, now I see, Playback from Multitracks. Let me see what I can figure out. I suspect it will be Midi out of playback to ProPresenter. I'd use the network midi to do it. Should work fine.
I use MIDI notes between Pro7 and Playback to control them in both directions. Playback runs slides in Pro, and MIDI notes in Pro Macros start pads in playback.
how to use it on a tablet or phone?
The easiest way is with the Stream Deck app, but you can also access the web page created by companion. It should be at the computer's IP address that is running companion and then ":port_number" which is the port number shown in companionion. So something like: 192.168.1.23:8080 .
