You're getting closer pal... Did you remove the old old one? Didn't know if the car had one when you got it. I've got a 65 coupe, and removing the original dash pad was a bitch... The foam backing, seemed molted to the metal dash.. Maybe 🤔 it was glued at the factory? Regardless, I literally had to rip that bitch off, in pieces.. And like an idiot, could just put the new pad in.. I cleaned the crap off the metal dash beforehand.. I bought my dash from NPD like 15 years prior. Just got around to installing it last spring 2023. Only find, it was a little short, on both sides.. I had to stretch it, then screw on the stainless trim tight, to hold it in place. Though what an improvement!!! I found myself, just sitting in the car, in the garage staring at it.. keep at it brother... Can't wait till ya get to the engine wok...
I didn't remove the old one - it was bare when I got the body shell. I would think it was glued at the factory plus decades of baking in the sun probably broke down the foam & created an ad hoc adhesive. It really does a wonderful job of making the interior look complete; I may be guilty of sitting in there imagining driving it & making vroom vroom noises while shifting.
Looking good. Will be starting on the interior of my 1966 2+2 this summer. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Cool, I was curious how the dash is attached to the car, now I know. :)
