Hi Matt always a pleasure watching your videos . mines gone for its first MOT today after five years in the my garage you definitely help me more than once .keep up the good work😊
thats great to hear , let me know if it passed
@@MattGreenWorks hi they phoned me earlier failed on one thing steering column bush witch they haven't got so will be picking up as and when .so I'm well pleased . Hope to see you London to Brighton in October. All goes well😊
Hi Matt dont forget to use the right oil when reassembling ,EP 140 about a third of a pint filled with an oil can through the small end of the gaitors....great videos Roger
Thanks Matt, takes me back to about 1967 when I bought a 1962 Mini 850, fitted a Mk2 rack and steering levers, this gave the car a smaller turning circle. Then went on to fit twin leading shoe brakes and MG 1100 engine 3.44 Diff in gearbox.. I still have the car!
Radfordperson. I also have a 62 850 in tartan red. Build date of 18th Sept. Had mine since 1987.
@@paulrobinson3528 Hi Paul, I also have a 1969 Tartan red Mini 1000, replaced the hydro suspension with rubber, pig of a job. Engine rebuilt, new pistons, bearings, etc., 12G295 head, duplex timing gear AEA630 cam, single 1 1/2" SU. Spax adjustables.
@@Radfordperson Oh 2 mini's?, sucker for punishment lol. Be a big job going to rubber. Funnily enough, when i had my mini, given to me by my Uncle, it had a 1000cc lump with a 12g295 head, duplex chain, copper cam(AEA630 maybe?) and cooper dizzy with twin carbs lols. I'm off down the shed now to do some more welding on my 62 Mini. It's still on the spit but not far from having the front end fitted.
@@paulrobinson3528 12G295 heads are getting rare now, your uncle knew the good stuff. On a spit, then big work, hope it goes well for you.
@@Radfordperson I've just looked on e bay and there are 3 12G295's on there so will watch them. He did know the good stuff. He and his best mate whom was a mechanic used to play with their cars, a healey 3000 that my uncle had, had loads spent on it. My uncle is 84 now and wants to see the mini before he goes. Yes lots of work, had it acid dipped. put new floor, boot floor. Front aint far from going on. Spent yesterday reconditioning the door hinges. Upto Matt's ep180 at the mo.
Love the videos Matt, will help me on my 84 Mayfair project, currently completed the underside and on to body prep and paint, not looking forward to my broken subframe bolt extraction though!! ATB jacob
Heat always helps on broken bolts. How ever you get heat into them. I normally
Weld nuts / bolts to what’s left
Matt Green I'll give it a go
You're right about new rack gaiters / boots, crap cheap rubber don't last, those old ones look quite good, I'd clean em up and re-use, was there any oil in that rack? it usually dribbles out when you hang vertical to paint like that! Keep up the pace Matt! Cheers Graham.
Good job Matt. Enjoying the vids so far. Great work. You'll always get critisim, don't pay any heed to it.
Looks great Matt, I don’t think the slight bends in the pipe work will affect braking or fuel delivery performance ;-)
Also, thought you might be interested that the original brake and fuel line clips on my 63 look pretty much identical to the small clips you have made. I guess they only swapped to the larger ones when they started to think about manufacturing the hydro models.
Looks great Matt nice work! 👍
I just did the same with mine and greased up the bits i could before putting the boots on ;) it only had 66k miles on it so its good for a few more ;)
Up for a northern meet Matt ! If i can get the mini done in time
I'd be interested in a meet up if one was organised, it'll give us a chance to show some of our mini's to you for a change.
keep up the great work mate
It's all coming together Matt 👍
Cheers
I only come here to find out what everyone's had for tea!
Come to Wigan Matt, home of the real pies lol
Do you know if it's a MK1 rack or MK3 type.(classic car giveaway now at 15,000)
I'm in the United States so I likely wouldn't make a meet up, but maybe some others who are, shall we say, more local, will chime in
Happy to world tour if we can sort accommodation :)
Steering rack then front subframe
matt hi good stugg bob
