Agree with everything about Meego. Even Android 15 today feels half baked with its swipe gestures in comparison. Imagine Meego with today's hardware. Such a well conceived UI.
It’s a curious thing that all the things that have been implemented in iOS and Android all came from now obsolete operating systems. Palm OS, meego, BB10 and windows phone. All these operating system’s had very similar elements and was way ahead of the game. My favourite was meego. But palm had multitasking first. Windows had the purest form of flat design and true minimalism. Meego had the ultimate gesture navigation and BB10 incredible aggregation, efficiency and security. All these things called revolutionary on iOS and Android, but yet had been far better implemented on other platforms years before. It’s such a shame all these other OS’s never got a chance. They would all be superior to the 2 horse race of today!
Sadly, the demise of many of these great operating system, or most of them, wasn't coincidental. Just take a look at how the mainstream media handled reviews of anything other than iPhone and Galaxy phones.... Lazy efforts at best, with so much ignorance and no will to give them a chance. Google's anti competition behaviour against windows phone for example is well documented. Nokia killed MeeGo in favour of Windows Phone. Palm was butchered up and sold to HP who mishandled it. BB10 was too little too late. We ended up getting stuck with the 2 most boring, mediocre, lackluster operating systems that don't compete against each other.
@@AbdullaZaki I blame social media apps, the developers and google wanted to track privacy data so they offered free apps lol. The consumers are easy to brainwash, apple and Google know how to brainwash and sell anything to the public.

Still so many n9 lovers. 😯 Still my favorite phone as well as the n900...even though they are not comparable. I got one of the rare white N9s back then. So niiiice.
I used to own Nokia N900, the predecessor of N9, and it run under Maemo OS. It was very nice phone, I always wanted to try N9, but never got my hands on one. In these days I'm using Sony Xperia 10, with Sailfish OS running on it. Sailfish OS is a successor of MeeGo and the Nokia's great design choices are very much present in SFOS. When you log into your phone, you'll end up in the multi task screen. When you swipe up, you'll bring in the application grid. If you swipe horizontally, it'll bring in the social media/event feed, it also shows the weather, calendar etc. When you drag down the screen it'll bring in the Top Menu (nothing surprising there.) When in application and you swipe left or right from the edge, it'll take you back to the task screen as in N9. Overall I like the SFOS experience, it's basically enchanced version of MeeGO and it has very slick UI that adapts to the background image colors. Also SFOS (if you have bought it) runs Android Applications through AlienDalvik container/virtualisation environment so I'm not missing out on apps.
I never got it but I saw it in action and it was a beast of Mobile device... I hope someday someone can make and os like this one for all android devices or at least a launcher.
The meego/symbian OS was way way ahead of its times... I mean things like sharing screen through Bluetooth connection, powerful file manager... A lot other features.. It was just amazing. Even some features been talked about now we're already done by that OS.. I wonder what the world would have been if Symbian was still here.. What really happened to them, anyone?
great video! also, could you do a rundown of Nokia's Asha Series, I believe it was their attempt at achieving the swipe gestures for their budget line. cheers!
Thanks for a nice video. I have never used MeeGo. I was planning to shift from Blackberry to N9 when suddenly the whole show disappeared! I so wish the OS and such devices were available today! Is there any way to install MeeGo on an Android phone today? I mean, replace Android with MeeGo on a phone?
The best! All those aspects made it the best way how a mobile phone will be used interacted with these days. Do have one in the drawer with a boot loop. I should revive it as a secondary phone...
They should have continued on Meego, look at Huawei Harmony OS now, it's just a new OS but it is now an amazing OS with successful support from third party games/apps developers.

I was a diehard supporter of Meego, got my N9 in Singapore for a hefty price back in 2009. Never regretted the purchase. Just anger at Nokia for the path(s) to destruction they chose. I still dream about the UI. Just three screens, no buttons, smoother than many today's Android phones. I had to witness how Nokia sold their perfect (and I might add - community driven) design and hardware to Microsoft, see how my beloved design transformed over night into Lumia 800, see how Meego support disappeared over night thanks to the Nokia's new master. I hated Microsoft for their actions. Used my N9 until email and whazapp didn't work anymore then passed it to two other family members until it finally died in 2018. I still miss it. I'm happy to see there is some hope with Jolla, but a jewel like N9 will never be again.
What i like about this phone more than current phone is the keyboard's haptic feeling. You can really feel that you are pressing or depressing a key similar to that of a physical keys. And the swipe gestures, phenomenal!

I got this phone after the N900 and honestly i was massively disappointed not that it was bad but it's features that i had gotten used to wasn't in meego especially the lack of an FM transmitter.
We want Nokia to manufacture these phones again 🥺
@@AbdullaZaki That are sadly resembling each other more and more to add insult to injury I might add.
@@AbdullaZaki I blame social media apps, the developers and google wanted to track privacy data so they offered free apps lol. The consumers are easy to brainwash, apple and Google know how to brainwash and sell anything to the public.
Aaaah ,those were the days my friend!!!! Android my behind!!!!!! Butchery if you ask me!!!! Cmon HMD,invest into this???? Another bang on video from Mr N!
I tried all the main operating systems that Nokia had S30, Symbian, Meego, Windows Phone, Asha Platform, Android, and KaiOS. I have all that phones that runs that OS right now. But I can't deny that the Nokia N9 is my favorite Nokia phone of all time. 😍
*S60 is Symbian.
@@terryjay1760 sorry for the redundancy. Thank you for noticing. Much appreciated.
I was just a broke student when the N9 came out 😞...I wanted one really bad.
I feel so sad thinking how glorious this phone is..no one realize how good it is back in 2011/2012 when i was using it.. because it too advance at the time.. then stupid windows take over.. n now stuck with nokia 8.. 🤭
Haha I feel your pain
@@AbdullaZaki i plan to buy one of this phone ..how about the facebook and youtube and google can they function well..?
@@princeaj2076 they don't work sadly
arrived here from twitter. subbed!
Welcome aboard :)
All the modern devices from Apple & Android have some of the cool features introduced by Nokia ... Nokia is & will always be a legend ... Their can be people who haven't had a first hand experience on iOS or android but their will not be anyone who haven't used a Nokia phone.
Thanks Abdullah Zaki, for a detailed video on Nokia N9 | Meego OS
Best timely review Abdul
Personally, I never used it but was so hyped for it back in the day.
Should have continued with this meego and the meamo os
The Development team did. They called it sailfish
yes, indeed the sailfish is not as impactful as android or IOS, imagine what today's latest version of it would have been
Huge fan of Nokia Gog bless you....
Still so many n9 lovers. 😯 Still my favorite phone as well as the n900...even though they are not comparable. I got one of the rare white N9s back then. So niiiice.
I wish meego os will comeback to life.
N9 needs to come back seriously, i love this phone sm
*This one is Nokia's another legendary phone. 😍*
I always wanted to try the N900 as I only heard great things about it!
Still haven't had the chance to try sailfish
I never got it but I saw it in action and it was a beast of Mobile device...
I hope someday someone can make and os like this one for all android devices or at least a launcher.
The meego/symbian OS was way way ahead of its times... I mean things like sharing screen through Bluetooth connection, powerful file manager... A lot other features.. It was just amazing. Even some features been talked about now we're already done by that OS..
I wonder what the world would have been if Symbian was still here..
What really happened to them, anyone?
Symbian is buried deep within Nokia at the moment
Best smartphone and OS of all times.
ahead of their time imo.
Had one and absolutely loved it!
great video! also, could you do a rundown of Nokia's Asha Series, I believe it was their attempt at achieving the swipe gestures for their budget line. cheers!
What is the name of that watch at 2:55? Also is it a smart watch?
I'm all down for these phones, baby! These are my passion!
Miss you Nokia from Indonesian
So cool the live multitasking is just now available in iPad os
Thanks for a nice video. I have never used MeeGo. I was planning to shift from Blackberry to N9 when suddenly the whole show disappeared! I so wish the OS and such devices were available today! Is there any way to install MeeGo on an Android phone today? I mean, replace Android with MeeGo on a phone?
No problem! Sadly you can't install meego on android phones, but you might wanna pick a nokia N9 out from ebay and play around with meego if you want.
The best! All those aspects made it the best way how a mobile phone will be used interacted with these days. Do have one in the drawer with a boot loop. I should revive it as a secondary phone...
It was so ahead of its time
Nokia. Father of all mobile phones 💪❤️🥰
I love my NOKIA asha 311 and I miss it today.
Where do you still find such classic nokias in mint condition???
When it'll be available for us?
The greatest OS ever.
I would buy MeeGo/N9 2021 version if available...
I have one and the case got cracked - looking for somewhere to get it fixed in the US
i use n9 in daily .... very good phone
They should have continued on Meego, look at Huawei Harmony OS now, it's just a new OS but it is now an amazing OS with successful support from third party games/apps developers.
We should request nokia to make n9 again this can help them survive
Yes .. I am also a huge fan of N9 ❤️❤️. But today😭
WOW YOU HAVE A PRETTY LOT OF NOKIA.. WISH TO HAVE ONE REALLY
I've been collecting them for the last 10 years
@@AbdullaZaki nokia phones back in the days were TANKS... always wish to have 1...
Good collection..
@@SenvyzP yes absolutely. Thanks!
sexiest looking device till date , Nokia Lumia 830 , Lumia 930 , Nokia N9 .. Nokia was the king of design
Please , keep on making these video's on Nokia.
I am currently using OnePlus Nord but I still use my Nokia 3.1 Plus from 2018 more than that 😆.
Would , really really appreciate if you could review that too 😅😅.
Dont plan on stopping :)
@@AbdullaZaki Got it , Thanks for replying back. 😁
@@AbdullaZakiDo you think you can provide us a video where you could tell us about stuff like - How to maintain battery health for longer period of time , how to keep aur smartphone display clean , how to avoid scratches and stuff like that ? 😆
Maybe :)
I miss the n9 only downside was the speaker going in both phones I had
Proud nokia guy🙌🙌
I don't need any reason to buy this lovely phone. I just love it
I was a diehard supporter of Meego, got my N9 in Singapore for a hefty price back in 2009.
Favourite phone ❤️
What i like about this phone more than current phone is the keyboard's haptic feeling. You can really feel that you are pressing or depressing a key similar to that of a physical keys.
And the swipe gestures, phenomenal!
I think it has the best haptic engine on a phone. Never tried anything better.
I really miss the old Nokia , symbian OS and windows OS were better than iOS and Android
Nokia is the best phone in term of os in the past, especially this meego os
i wish next video you will review nokia n900, the only phone with maemo os
(or maybe the n800 was the predecessor of ancient maemo ? cmiiw)
as far as know its running internet tablet edition os ??(the n800)
but the icon and ui its like or similar to maemo os in n900
I would love to find an N900 and create a video for it. Sadly I don't have one on me
Nokia N9 was a true innovation of its time. The phones today are just copying it some or the other way but cannot succeed. Today's smartphones play the specs game. Innovation seems to be missing.
Fav phones ever n808 (Due to the camera), lumia 1020 (Metro was amazing and the camera was too)... but my favourite was indeed N9... what a glorious device... I never felt SFOS refined or was a positive step from N9. Although I have been a sailfish OS user since.
Not to mention, the N9 Meego is using AMOLED display, the iPhone 4 is still on LCD at that time.
