Darkglass's design language gives off major Apple vibes except with more ports
And it's actually worth the extra money you spend on it.
I always describe darkglass to non bass people as “the apple of bass products” 😂
Man, I really wish I had a practical use for Darkglass products. I love everything they put out.
Loved the video, I wish you would do more than reviews/demo, like 3 minute bass jams. That would be sick
I could start spreading out into different stuff like that!
Wow what a awesome pedal. Great video as always Patrick
Yasssssssssss .. was waiting for this. So I can use this from the parallel out x7 cab sim and for quite time practice
I'll use it very soon in a live situation, can't wait to test it out
Instead of that secondary volume control they should allow you to blend the different amp sims you have uploaded.
Coming. Next app update. Version 3
Marcos Barilatti No way! Seriously? I keep saying that would be a great feature on a pedal.
@@aarondavis5850 did it happen?
@@PushSueAside no
that d-roc sounds so good 🌟🌟
Bad ass skills man & equipment! Sounds 💯💀💀💀💀
Nice demo dude! Thanks!
Very cool video like always! 🔥
Love the DG stuff! But this time I'll stick with the Two Notes C.A.B M+ Curious what those IR's are based on though. They sound killer.
Okay the Bluetooth is a REALLY nice touch
G.A.S is kicking in hard for this one.
Nice Sterling, Patrick :)
TAKE MY MONEY, DARKGLASS!!! 💰💰
The vicious cycle of GAS and new gear!
@@patrickhunter Almost every day, something new!!! 🙈
Worth mentioning, I don't believe this is a load box, you can run into it as long as you run out but if you're hooking up your amp without a cab it needs to be a preamp out not a powered out.
Seems interesting as a headphone amp but you can do the rest straight from the amp itself if you have one.
i basically use my element as a di, 1/4 inch out to the amp (line level) and then xlr out to foh..and for practice most times i use the di to mixer. i do however also use as a headphone amp but rarely.
Excellent vid... caution as a reminder, never link a tube amp's out straight into the sim cab without the cabinet between. The cab sim is not a loadbox.
Oh my god you sound exactly Fred Armisen and I'm 100% here for it
Looks pretty sweet! How well does the cab sim translate for recording with the xlr out?
Epic intro~ cheers
I love how he still uses the wish bass
I wish the amp output is at the left side together with the DI output so I could put it in the pedalboard.
Hey, do you know if the Bluetooth will do multiple incoming connections? I'd like to blend my computer and phone connections into a single headphone amp.
sounds great, but, can somehow the clean signal be blended with the impulse response affected one? sometimes is nice a little bit of the direct
So would I use this as the di box for the PA system/recording studio and use the instrument out to connect to the input/line out of my combo amp/amp head? Or how would I use this with a di box since you need to connect via xlr? My signal chain currently is bass>effects>di> di thru to amp>line out amp head/mic amp cab. That way I have several sounds to work with. Sorry if this is long and confusing. Thanks!!
Not sure if it will support to connect my pedalboard, use de xlr for front of house and also connect to on stage amp (like a through output)
nice review, thanks for that!!
One question that I couldn't get answered so far: When you chose for example impulse #2 via the bottom/center "touch knob", then take the pedal off the electricity (for a longer time, some weeks or so) and then plug it back - will the impulse #2 still be (pre-)selected?
How would you compare the built in CAB SIM of Microtubes B7k Ultra v2 or others vs the new ELEMENT CAB SIM PEDAL?
with the USB C can the loading be done from your phone/tablet?
Hello Patrick!!! how are you?? What cab did you use for the video? Gracias por tantos aportes!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Big respect on the transparency! Noticing that more on youtube recently, good direction 👌
Huh? This guy is a paid endorser, nothing transparent about that. You want transparent the top hit when you search this is an honest review by a pro bassist and non-endorser.
Is it possible to connect a Guitar tube amp head ? or just the transistor amplifier
So this is so u can jam with no amp? But u can hookup your pedals to it as well? So its basically being able to play portable?
Some really sexy basses in this video!
I have a question: with this gadget, can i play bass and hear drums beats with an external device at the same time?
Dumb question.....cab IR loaders are completely new to me. Given an active bass has an on board preamp...would you be able to plug straight into this and then into the PA from the XLR using IEM'S to hear your mix? Thanks 😊
now when the suit got that preamp with the cab ir it got looking more like something i might buy, there's still all the glass i'm worried about breaking, so there is that.
but i would think they have thought about that and are using bullet proff glass of some sort. but still..
And why have two headphones in when you as i understand it can't plug more than one instrument at once?
Hi Patrick. For headphone practice at home how does the Element differ from something like the Alpha Omega Ultra AUX Bass Preamp. Many thanks for all you videos.
Pretty sure this still needs a preamp before it because it’s only an IR loader and a headphone amp.
Does the XLR Out sums the aux input and the bass input?
please do another Video with this and The EHB1005ms. Mine doesn't ship for another month and I may die waiting that long.
What’s the music in the background of the talking portions? Really diggin it.
So this can be used to live gig to go direct to the board? (Like Strymon Iridium for guitar?)
You look like Walter White:D
Great review:)
So does this work like a DI box?
So don't run it with the svt4 pro?
Get a Two Notes CAB M. Will do all of this and more and is a better value for money.
I've always noticed your strings seem floppy as hell. What are you doing to get that ~~~~~
Question.
I want to set up the following chain:
Bass - pedal board - Darkglass Element - then:
1- xlr out to FOH
2- Darkglass Element Out to Stage Amp
This is doable, correct?
Damn dude! Which Cab Sim were you using at 4:50?
I want a product that is just a little box on a plug that I plug into my bass and connects to my amp sim on my phone through Bluetooth.
Can you connect Bluetooth hadphones and the phone at the same time? Also how do you get to hear the cab sim through the headphones? On the ultra models I think you can only hear if the xlr is plugged in. Thanks.
I've got an X ultra but never figured out how to listen to the cab sins before a show. I just press the button and see if I like it at shows when I go direct to front of house.
Hi! Thanks for the review! Do you know if it can also be powered by usb? For example with a rechargeable battery… would be amazing!
Yes it can, you need...a battery plus the good cable (easy to find) to connect your battery to the Element. It works OK
#PatrickHunter Could you clarify on that 7:29 mark, where you said you can have your bass go to your amp, then amp go to the DG Element then out to the FOH, DAW, or whatever? Is that entirely accurate? So does this have a Load Box in it, like the Two Notes Torpedo or what? I've never heard of a pedal/DI/Load Box being used for a Class D amp only Load box... And I don't think it has Load Box functionality, can you confirm that? So if I run it outta my Fender SuperBassman and run it to my DAW instead of my AccuGroove EL Whappo then my head is fucked and gonna blow big hairy fire, but a class D amp like an Aguilar Tone Hammer 700 will be fine? What about an SWR 750x, will that work fine and not blow my antique head? I just don't get it....WHY will it not blow a Class D head, and blow a Tube Head? I'm a bit verklemptt!
It is NOT a load box, per the manual.
If it's at the end of the signal chain on a pedalboard, can it then be run into an amp?
Yes mate via the parralell out
SO if I dont have a amp around, can I just plug in my bass and Headphone and go play with this?
That’s correct !! Love it
Except that's not what you're hearing here thanks to the other pedal shaping the tones running into it
can you tell me what you are playing from 0:33?
Could I line out this to my audio interface and record with it? Like through the XLR in port? I'm using a behringer umc22 I believe. Would it pick up the effects? I'm sorry it's a dumb question I'm really new to effects and recording.
Yes
Not a dumb question at all! That method is exactly how I recorded all of the bass in this demo, just straight into my Scarlett 2i2 using the XLR out!
@@patrickhunter Thanks!
I wish I could understand what this does haha. Im so dumb but it looks sweet
Always love your content man, bias toward the product or otherwise 😂 Definitely considering this thing, Darkglass just CANNOT miss w/me as a metal bassist.
Right? I have the B7K gen 1, hyper luminal, duality fuzz and now I want this.... almost bought it without even knowing what it was...
Being compensated by Darkglass is like being compensated by Koenigsegg. They just don't do anything that's not amazing :)

🤘😷 🇫🇷
Hey Pat, weren't you supposed to send this D-Roc back ? 🧐😁
Sick would be nice to be able to power it with bateries
Totally agree. A headphone amp should be able to run on batteries. Swing and a miss on DG part. I mean come on even just a battery box it can snap into fer Pete's sake. Seems most DG products are AC only.
Hmmm, cool but I wish it was a CabSim pedal ‘with headphone outputs’, not the other way round
Those dingwalls though...yummy
🤤🤤🤤
Would have liked to have heard it dry as well
I don't understand why it has two headphone outs if you can't plug two instruments
I don’t see the point of using this when the 900 v2 already has a cab sim in it. But hey the 500 and 900 v1 don’t so yeah I can than see using that. I love dark glass products this is very cool and I’m seeing the future for the ultra pedals here.
If you got that amp, you're probably good to go and don't need a lot of extra stuff. I for one don't own a dg amp and probably won't have the means for one, so this is a great tool to get a nice di with cabsim(which I actually started looking for like a few weeks ago, so this is just neat!)
Pat how are you a darkglass artist? Just for making RUclips videos? If you got a band or original music you need to post it!
Dont worry, everyone is a darkglass fanboy.
Does Darkglass only take on bearded bald guys? Great vid!
Stereo input?
Yes... through auxin
Why would you need this when for example, the Xultra already has phone jacks and can impulse ? Asking as another Darkglass fanboy who basically uses theB7K as the meat of my tone?
You probably don’t. I mean it does have Bluetooth and multiple IRs so that’s a plus. Based on all of Darkglass’s new releases it seems like they’re just competing with themselves to get every corner of the market. Dude who only own the simple overdrives or deluxe series preamps would definitely benefit from a product like this.
Yeah you most likely don’t need it. As for me I primarily use a Sansamp BDDI plugged into the effects return of a guitar amp for silent practice. I’d probably get the Element to replace the bulky amp.
Costs has much has the spark if not more... Its not an Amp like the spark, and its not an audio interface like the audient which the two notes torpedo impulse. In conclusion for the same price you can a have a bias amp or a torpedo cab plus a practice amp or a pre+audio interface ...
Would this be good to go FOH
I would much rather buy a Zoom B1 and have more effects, more presets, a drum machine, a tuner, a looper, an informative led screen and the option to run on batteries for $170 less than this. I know it won’t have the Darkglass mystique but you’ll have a lot more fun with it.
Cool vid but man it would be so much more useful if the sound clips included a before and after with the cabsim on and off. How can we tell what the cabsim is doing to the preamp signal when it's always on? The lovely tones could be mostly from the preamps
Bruce Banner explaining his reviews
The Hulk on the bass
Suit the shaved hair my dude. Excellent video as always. Think ill need to grab this pedal for sure
one day i’ll have that d roc costum gold 😍
me just received my omnicab sim by dsm noisemaker and this is just released.... 💵 💵
So wait, is this a loadbox?
Edit not a Loadbox. But headphone amp/ Bluetooth auxiliary In
NO ACTUALLY. It is not a loadbox. Please don't try to use it as one🙈
@@patrickhunter The diagram of this connecting with an amp kind of gave that impression.
@@slash196 yeah I got the same impression and looked it up. I think you can plug it in between your speaker out at your amp and the input of your box or can someone explain the diagram and what Patrick said about the speaker output to me?
@@patrickhunter for some reason I thought like ir loader but yeah Loadbox do not use it with a tube amp without a cab it will kill it
Headphone Amp 305€... Ultra line about 400€. It seems that it hasn't really a place tbh
Okay I know that has a lot more features tho
Yeah I was wondering bc I have b7k ultra and it has digital ampsim, XLR-out and Headphone Jack. Also whilst looking cool I feel really doubtful about the touch controls as in how long those will last compared to potis and buttons.
@@cmr2153 I think they will last very good, because I think it's Nintendo level touch (just guessing) and my DS lite is quite old now. I just think it's overpriced. 200€ would be fine tho now it's more like a C.A.B. M with less features. And I think the only one really using it are people who don't own one darkglass ultra line pedal or guitarists who want the brand name
For once I want to see patrick to begin a video WITHOUT a bass slide 🤠
Not gonna happen :)
Hahahaha GOOD LUCK!!!
holy jesus im so fucking early to this video
CRACK. THE FUCKING. SKYE ! ! ! !
P Bass for the win... Per the usual. I don't think I can grab another style of bass. They simply sound the best
Darkglass products are so overhyped. Returned their preamp after 1 day. Tech 21 stuff sounds so much better
What made it so much better than the darkglass?
@@theTrend7 It has a much more authentic and natural sound. Darklgass is very weird. While their products are very high quality, they are also very overpriced IMO and don't give the best sound towards budget-friendly players. It can sound very, eh, synthetic, like the beginning riff that Patrick plays in the beginning.
Tech 21 sounds much better and is somewhat cheaper than Darkglass. Definitely worth it though.
too much talking, too fast,.too loud and not enough showing how it works. Sorry, don't take it badly.
Another pimped paid endorsement. Why didn't you advertise as such per the rules? Also for anyone wanting to ask questions he just takes money and and makes awkward videos and won't respond to actual product questions.
