I am in the same boat! Reading the Bible and praying makes me feel better. I was not raised with any sort of religion either so it is nice to know I’m not the only one to have this type of transformation in adulthood.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is how we’re saved. I think this is wonderful that you’re doing what God is leading you to do. There’s a gal on yt called “How to faith a life” who might be helpful to follow. My husband is a preacher and I’ve also gone through education, we’ve found the Holy Spirit actually teaches us and continues to more than formal education ever has. Even if you don’t understand what you’re reading. It’s important to continue to read it. The Bible has many layers and it’s so deep that not everyone truly understands it in its entirety and that’s ok. It may come to you years later and soon you’ll begin your put the pieces together. How it’s tied together. Learning the history of the Bible and how things were changed. I know most don’t realize this. Not all the Bible is to us. It’s to the Jews and how God will redeem them. Yes, there is also parts that are to us as well. Christ will redeem our imperfect bodies and make them perfect. It’s still important for us to read for our learning. It’s perfectly ok to find Jesus right in your own home. ❤
I watch Faith! She's great and has so many helpful videos. Yes, I'm just plodding along, trying to get closer to God, that's all I can do. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
Bless you for being honest. I’m also a beginner and read a little at a time. I like the idea of carrying a small bible in my purse vs searching mindless social media. I also like the ESV bible and have one. Thanks for sharing.
I wasn’t raised in the church either and just came to Jesus this year! It’s so interesting how you said that you felt like you just had to buy a Bible one day because that’s EXACTLY what happened to me! God is really at work!
It is coming from the Lord. I wasn’t raised in the church either and in 2012 I started feeling a pull towards the Bible. I now read it everyday, study it and am finishing up reading the Bible in a year plan. I have several study bibles, most modern translations and am looking forward to reading the Bible chronologically in 2024. Keep going, just pray and read and leave the rest up to Jesus, he will guide you.
Oh my goodness. I already have this same exact bible (NLT rose gold with filament) only it's in teal and I love it and its size SO MUCH. And now I want to get this one too! I don't even use the filament feature (and don't have or want a mobile phone), but I LOVE this Bible. It is so easy to travel with -- even just in the house. I keep it right next to my bed and always want it in reach. I study and read the Bible much the same way you do -- only I do a chapter in the Old Testament as well as a chapter from the New Testament each day. I like to look up verses that pique my interest in different translations that I have. I love to look things up in the NLT and the MEV (which is very much like a modern version of the King James, using the same source docs as the KJV) as well as many other translations. I feel like I learn so much from looking at the different translations! I seem to find that every English translation DOES have one or more errors in translation. One that fascinates me because it is so poorly translated in so many bible translations is Proverbs 17:8. Some bibles (including my beloved NLT) do a TERRIBLE job, implying that giving or receiving a bribe is good -- although in a number of other verses in the Bible bribes are CLEARLY labeled as sinful. The KJV didn't make it sound like bribes were good, but that translation didn't even make sense. I was SO HAPPY when I found the NIV translation of Proverbs 17:8 -- "A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it; they think success will come at every turn." Now THAT makes sense. I had been anti-NIV before due to an issue I have since gotten over, but this alone caused me to purchase an NIV and now I am loving it as my main reading Bible. I was never a "KJV only" person, but was close to it and am going through a phase now where I love to have a number of translations for the use I have already mentioned and I am loving it. I also was not raised Christian and reading the Bible is such a blessing. God bless you in your walk with Him!
That's so awesome that you just decided to read the Bible. I spent so many years intimidated by it but I start in 2020 and it has changed my life. I pray the Lord meets you in your quiet time with him and that you continue to grow in your faith each and every day. P.S. I just ordered that compact NLT Bible with the rose gold and the flower because I wanted a Bible to carry around with me too. What an awesome coincidence. Thanks for sharing!
You are so blessed. Your personality is so precious. Candii you don't know this but I used to follow you when you did vids about cleaning and your nails and cooking and Franklin planners (and when you first got big boi ) . Your videos have brought me so much peace. Thank you for sharing love!
Love your new devotionals! Im going to check out the daily grace! I just started reading the Bible as well so I’m enjoying seeing your journey too! Thank you for sharing!! ❤
I agree esv is the most easiest version I ever read. I love the king james version tho..it feels very movie to me lol so I like that one the most !! Loved ur collection! 💖 ur bibles are really pretty !!
@lovewifeycandii yeah like ur watching a Broadway play or seeing a spoken word live. "For thou art my son whom I am well pleased " then like the nlt version like "for u are my son who I am pleased with " lol to me just makes it exciting lol
If you have questions you’d like to toss around with someone, I have a masters in Hebrew Bible and used to be a pastor. I’m happy to talk with you about some directions your faith can grow from here and solidify your walk with Jesus.
About the filament app i got it and it is different for every bible so will need to scan the filament logo in each bible because the page are different for each bible, so that it is geared for every filament bible.
You’re doing great! Reading and being familiar with the stories is the great. As you keep going, you will learn more and make connections between other parts of the Bible to help you go deeper. Resources and commentaries are good helps, but don’t really replace the work and effort you and the Holy Spirit do while reading.
I appreciate that, for awhile I was feeling overwhelmed thinking I need all the commentaries and such. One day, I was just like "Candace, stop. All that matters is that you are spending time reading the bible and with God...all the other stuff will come in time, or it won't.
Hi Sister, i would say if you have one or 100 bibles, if you got one bible that draw you closer to got then use that, many can have a lot of bibles and read from them all, and just get confused be reading many bibles, so i would say it is better to have one bible than many and get confused. Gods peace to you
I have seen some people do that. Read a passage in one Bible, read the same in a different Bible. I think that's beyond me right now lol, I just need simple.
"All I know is that reading and praying makes me feel better. So, I guess thats what I'm gonna do!" Yesssss 🙌 Happy for you and your walk with God!

Seems like a lot of people are experiencing what we are 😁

I highly recommend, it has been so nice to be able to just pull it out whenever and read for a few minutes.
