The one thing that I loved about this movie, aside from the themes around the unifying magic of music and the togetherness of community, was that it also spoke to the idea that crime (and being a criminal) doesn't always infer the measure of your character, morality, or ethics. She went into the den of judgement and taught them all to not be so uptight and judgmental. She taught them that systems designed to help manage people can be flawed and that we should question our societal norms, because blindly following any type of faith is foolish. Like Addams Family Values, this film has a lot of really biting social commentary, that I think sadly gets overlooked by mainstream audiences. Sister Act nd Sister Act 2 are a couple of my favorite films as a kid, because I always questioned why things are the way they are, and this movie gave me room to question further.

I love that take and I actually was thinking about the Addams Family movies while watching this and about the way people can bond not despite their differences but because of them.

Famous quote from Whoopi Goldberg was right after the Ted Danson black face fryers club incident. " Fuck them if they can't take a joke." Plus cancel culture is what higher ups use to distract you from the real issues that are creating problems. And that is on both sides. Whoopi Goldberg may not a big movie career, but she was always doing something and was always on our screens big and small and on stage performing
