The Much Hated French Exchange Variation forces a draw-ish symmetry that those who study the French so that they can win as Black utterly detest. The risky QxP preserves asymmetry despite degenerating into Scandinavian style lines, although I can hold my nose and play PxP.
4:20 What if ideas like Qb1 targeting the h7 pawn, is forcing g6 bad for black. How does black deal with the ideas targeting the h7 pawn or even the diagonal? Ignore them?
I'm not sure why everyone hates the exchange variation. It'll only become a draw if your opponent plays precisely in this variation, but from what I have noticed most people don't even know how to play this position.

But in c5 variation d5 pawn is isolated
