Great video. I wish I knew why it took a year to show up on my computer. Your header problems sure brings back memories of when I raced my 55. Each problem gets solved only to create another. I was lucky enough to have a set of Jerrys headers. I went down from his headers to a block off plate that pointed down, then I jacked up the car at the track to remove the caps. I used Waldron exhaust. I called them and ordered a custom built set up that followed the stock dual design. It had mandrel bends, and I never used a clamp on anything except a hanger. I welded tabs on each piece, then it could all come apart to service it. After all was said and done, it all came back out to be cleaned, primed, and painted with VHT flat black. Those new headers from REX look super nice. Good luck, I will be watching for progress.

Thanks for checking in, Don! I do appreciate it and your expertise on the Y Block. Hopefully I can open up the rest of the exhaust as I move forward. I still have the OEM size in the glass packs and rear pipes.

You were real good to fit the headers in a column shift car. Little bird long tube headers far worse. Ford Power Train did a run of 25 sets for us. Is Jerry still up and running? 10 years ago he sent me excellent long tube headers he built for his Ranch but dropped the project. Yer exactly correct about bad design headers. I dyno compared a pair to manifolds, pathetic +7hp. Good long tube headers +31hp/+41tq. When (not if) you break the side loader get a T85OD, unbreakable as long as it's got oil in the OD case, shop on the east coast has every single part. The 1" 10 spline clutch disk rare, T85s have several different size input shafts and your engine will pull a 3:20 rear. I had my 1" relined same price as new. Also when (not if) you get an electric fan the sensor goes in the head plug very near the distributor and use a 'tested' 165 thermostat. My fans rarely go on regardless of weather and use. Mech fans 6-12HP and highest load when not needed. It will all be worth it when the gremlins are sorted out, my performance Yblocks been running hard zereo trouble for many years, keeps me sane.

Excited to see the cam swap video, I've got a 292 in a 64 f100 and have not seen any videos detailing how to cam swap a yblock. Only decade plus old forum post talking about them with little detail and no pictures.

Started tear down today… deep enough into it to remove the cam and crank gear and chain and start the process. I have to travel out of state this coming week and next but I plan to do two videos - one of the removal and then one concerning installation.

Nice work installing those headers. Are you going to be installing a four or five speed transmission in the future?

If you check out HotRodReverend.com/blog you can see more of where I am headed. Going with a T85 3 speed OD eventually.

Great info! Man that's a tight fit! Those look like the quality of the FPA units I bought for my '56 to swap in the 390.

Good work Dan! Perseverance and good nights sleep does wonders. I'am not sure where you put the shims to clock the engine? The headers look impressive and add to the wow factor.
    Are you having fun yet.

One shim was placed between the drivers side motor mount and the frame.
