Oh my I live on the Oregon Coast too. I will be visiting your channel a lot. My grandkids are visiting next month and I want to encourage some of your craftiness. They are teens who love nature.
Have you ever tried pressing ornamental crab apple tree flowers? Ours is starting to bloom and it's really beautiful. I'm wondering if they press well.
Hi, sorry for the delayed response as they are probably gone now. But yes, they press really good and hold color well. Hope you did a test:-) Thanks for watching, Em
@@emsplace Yes, I tried pressing them in different ways. I had some pressed in profile and other ones open. I also had some of them pressed without the stamens. I can't wait to see the outcome. My neighbors' are starting to bloom. I think I'll ask them to give me a couple now that you told me they press well. Thanks, Em.
Thank you for sharing your process! I want to press Cosmos as I have a lot of them in my home garden. I have tries to press them a few times but the flowers keep shrinking. Can you suggest anything to press Cosmos successfully ?
Question: did you say that after the initial pressing of a couple of days, that you go back and re-arrange on fresh paper, then press for more days? How long is the typical drying period? Thanks so much!
Hi Robin, I press them in the paper sandwich and they stay on/in there until used - even for storing after dry. Therefore, the whole paper sandwich, (flowers in the middle) is the same house used for the entire process. I rotate the paper sandwich from the damp book to a dry book several time during the process. The first rotation, and IMHO the most important one, is after 24 to 48 hours. Hope that helps, Em
Thank you for showing the process. I especially like to hear the names of the flowers and leaves, but I’m not good at spelling. Could you write out the names under the video in the info spot? Best wishes.🌿🌸🍃
Thank you for watching. I do try to include the names for some items in the title - and sometimes in the info area. I will try to be more diligent:-) Appreciate the comment, Em
@@Nobody-cw4wm OMG LOL!!! Was wondering about the comment and decided to run with it:-) OK, will have to look up that video at some point. Thanks for letting me know, Em
Thank you so much; it's so great to watch you work with the flowers.
My pleasure 😊 Comment like this help motivate me to do more. Thank you for watching!

Hi, I press cosmos all the time with success. Just be sure to use a LOT of weight on top so they dry flat.
@@emsplace hey, thank you for replying. I’m going to try again. Hopefully will be successful this time 😅

Can l suggest “Crime Pays But Botany Doesn’t” ?
LOL, so true. But since I am not a criminal, I do things for the enjoyment of it. Thanks for watching:-)
@@emsplace hahaha! No no, I was suggesting criminality 😂 It’s a regular utube video by an interesting botanist.
