Sunless tanner for the win!! I feel like I’m ready for summer now. PS, I shot this video a month ago, so I have even more thoughts on some of these products and will share soon!
It’s times like these that I’m grateful that I embrace my porcelain skin & sunscreen habits ;without feeling like I need to fake tan to feel healthy & pretty. I blame Coco Chanel for our obsession with tanning whereas before her influence pale skin was highly celebrated. 🤷♀️ At least sunscreen is trendy now , eh?! 😆 Lots of love your way, Susan!
The timing of this video was perfect! Just started using self tanners so this was very helpful. Could you also do a video on how to prep your skin prior to using and the maintenance that you mentioned.
Use a regular lotion on your hands and feet as well as your elbows and ankles as a barrier to help your self tanner not stick to those areas. You get a nice even tan when you do that.
I'd like to know what you think of L'Oreal Sublime Bronze facial drops (compared to the Tan-Luxe), b.tan, and Bondi Sands! Also I just started using the Jergens natural glow wet skin... I thought it smelled nice, like a staple Jergens product scent. We'll see with continued use if I smell anything different.

I also got that one from Amazon beauty by earth and it was orange on my body and could get kind of patchy so I use it for my face mixing with moisturizer and it works for me . I really enjoy the Clarins tanning drops that you can mix in with your face cream & body cream. They have one specific for face and one for body. I really like that you can customize the amount you use and I can still use my regular moisturizers. Also, they don’t have any smell. St. Tropez has always had good tanning products. In particular, I like the original gradual tan & the express. The St. Tropez Purity Vitamin Face Serum is really nice as well.
I’ve wanted to try Bali Body for a long time now but also just found out about the Sunshine Drops by Drunk Elephant - It has a lot of good reviews I think
Can you try Sosu Dripping Gold? The formula has hyaluronic acid, vitamin A & E, etc. and Whitney Simmons really likes it. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Try the Austrian glow one hour express in ultra dark it’s got a serious dark color guard but it’s amazing for color pay off i usually leave it on for like 1-3 hours depending on how busy i am but then use the purity mist from st tropez it’s so good just can transfer to hands if you don’t wash them after you spray it
Great video! I’m swearing by Bali body mousse for the body. For the face, I’ve tried 7 different brands and finally ended up preferring the most affordable one “Jergens Sol” drops ☀️☀️☀️
YAY! I totally need some sort of indication where the self-tanner ended up on my body too, and most of the girls on RUclips are really anti-colorguide/guard (whatever, lol), which is bizarre to me. I'm so glad you're doing this series!!!
I wonder about self tanners on the face when you're using actives in your skin care routine. Cuz I don't see the point in using self-tanners if your face is going to be a different color from the rest of your body lol
Lol Susan you really took one for the team with those swatches! There are self tan removal products on the market that might help get it off. Also try the St.Tropez self tan Express, you leave it on for 1 to 3 hours (the longer you leave it on the deeper the tan, I always leave it on 3 hours, it’s not that dark) and then rinse it off, it has a color guide, it’s not patchy and no bad smell. I want to try the Bali body next, it’s very popular atm.
My holy grail combo is Jergens Natural Wet Skin fair to medium moisturizer (it’s a gradual) and then add in a few drops of the Tanologist Self Tan Drops (medium) into the lotion after a shower everyday before I dry off. They’re gradual so it’s builds so nicely and if you do it daily after your shower you never really have to worry about spots fading. Then once/twice a week I’d exfoliate when it’s time to shave and start over again.
*Tan Tip/ Hack! I use loving tan and I love it! I found that taking a firm/stippling foundation brush i take a small amount of lotion and use the isle of paradise face drops for my hands and feet!! I found it makes the fade a lot more smooth especially on your hands and that way it’s easy to apply more and you don’t have to exfoliate it off. Isle of paradise face drops are decent. Curious your opinion on which would be better
Beauty by Earth and Botanic Tree are the cleanest in general. Any DHA-based safe tanner is technically ‘safe’ for pregnancy and breastfeeding but if you’re interested in a more ‘clean’ approach, it’s BBE and BT.
I really enjoy the Sol (Colourpop) gradual sunless tanning lotion! Very inexpensive and is a white lotion formula that has a mild smell and works gradually over several days of use. I haven’t tried the face one but plan to next!
Looks pretty even with pink or red undertone. Not a strong scent. Rinse off in the shower. Need to see where you apply it. Isle of paradise is a mouse not a lotion.

I'm really confused, I thought I shouldn't use self tanner on my face if im trying to get rid of hyperpigmentation. Doesn't this worsen your melasma?
