Other cars manufactured in Korea were licensed from other car makers like Peugeot and Ford. The Pony started the trend for owners to drive their own car instead of hiring a driver. I had many opportunities to ride in one as they quickly became ubiquitous as taxis AKA Kimchi Cabs. The Pony seemed rugged. Had to be given the state of the roads back then and what it lacked in comfort it made up in utility. I was pleased to see Hyundai enter the US market in the 80’s, but felt bad for them as the cars were trashmobiles and sales dropped to a trickle. But the Korean mentality is not the guilt free, quarter by quarter, make money now, as in the USA. First the Koreans were shamed by this. Not just Hyundai employees, but the entire nation. The reputation of being lousy cars would not stand or somebody was going to kill themselves. Literally. Second Koreans tend to look 20 or more years down the road. A US company would have simply pulled up stakes or outright collapsed. Instead Hyundai responded with Japanese style QC and backed up their claim of quality with a 100,000 mile warranty. Flash forward to 2019 and finally I was in a position to get myself into something befitting my inflated view of myself and I picked up an unblemished G80 Ultimate, 3.8L HTRAC with 28,000 miles for $26,000. This is my first Hyundai (Genesis more correctly) and it is no Pony car. I actually invent reasons to go places I love driving the car so much. But what else I love doing is having someone else drive while I sit in the chairman’s seat in the back. Of course the vehicle is self diagnosing and will report when routine maintenance is called for as well as any anomalies needing immediate attention. So far no anomalies. I am certain this third generation car will sell in huge numbers and in short order create a large competitive used car market which is where I plan to buy. Because of Genesis’ initial build quality and rigorous dealer follow up the used cars will be primo like the Genesis I drive now, which shows no sign of being anything less than showroom new. I drove an early Genesis in South Korea in 2012 and I have to say that it was smoooooooth. I’ve never driven an Audi, Mercedes, or BMW cars but it is a solid well built car, extremely well equipped, very very well finished, and one of the most comfortable cars I’ve ever sat in or driven. These are beautiful cars with plenty of torque.
Bentley and Audi A7 combo. Good to have foreign manufacturers offering various models. There are alot of model out there which are not available in the UK.
So my friend owned bmw and merc for years, but he got so sick of the maintenance and it comstantly breaking down. He also tried audi, which was a little better, but he hated that too. He got a g90 in 2017, and he hasnt had aa single issue with since then. The luxury and practicality is insane, its even better than a 7 series or on par with an s class. All those people who say “its a hyundai,” then is a rolls royce a bmw? Or is a lexus a toyota? Genesis is so amazing.
Biggest reason to consider one of these is that it'll be massively more reliable than anything from Germany or Italy. Maybe not as reliable as something from Japan but close and probably a lot cheaper.
I'm Korean!!!The new G80 is already released in Korea. And it is better then you would think that car would be!!! It is really pretty and big and really smart!!!!
No they aren't, best will in the world they will depreciate more slowly but there are very very few mass produced cars that rise in value and there is nothing about this car that makes it unique or original enough that it's going to go up in value.
How can people hate on Genesis. They're like Lexus back on the day; the new kid on the block that has better quality control than almost everybody else. And you get the newest technologies at a lower price than everybody and the car looks really good. I don't understand why people can not like newer Genesis products
I have so much newfound respect for genesis now. They’re becoming what infinity was 20 years ago. The cheaper alternative for mercedes or bmw while not sacrificing features. I hope the cool factor on them go up.
It's funny how these car enthusiasts love to constantly kick Genesis in the nuts by making Hyundai references all throughout the video instead of giving them their full props for designing a dope ass car and respecting it for what it is.
Many of people think "G80 looks like Bentley" In fact, G80 is designed by designer Luc Donckerwolke and Lee Sang Yeob. They was worked together in Bentley.
@A real bisexual petrol-head Rusted ev cars not passing emissions? My ass. If you take care of the car, it can last for a good while. If it's just surface rust then it doesn't matter to much either. If my 15yo bmw have little to no rust, modern cars will be okay. Exhaust systems can be replaced too.
@@eventusvantos2770 The new E Class has some cheap plastic and its dashboard creeks when you push it. Also Mercedes has become mediocre in terms of reliability. In fact, Hyundai cars are more reliable than anything Germans have right now.
G80 is a real world class, super value for the money you usually pay for small or mid size German brands. It's much better than e-class, from the back seat for sure.
Why are you surprised by the main beam dipping? My Golf Mk 7 from end of 2012 has that feature. There's a camera that sees where other cars are, and some things in the head light move around to be where the other cars are. Nowadays this is done with many LEDs that can be switched on and off.
Seen one in Dublin airport, didn’t know what it was so put the reg into cartell and came up as a 3.5 petrol, someone must have really liked them to import one so early!!!

Literally no one thinks that. But I had no idea, family always comes first. Says he had a busy travel schedule and it was affecting his health
Last time I was this early, Matt still had biceps
😱
😄😄😄
I bet you've been working out at home and you'll come back from quarantine looking like a professional arm wrestler
SAVAGE!! Lol
Wow 🤩 I loved this new Genesis, You have me sold on this car .
Beautiful car from korea... Luxurious as well.
Editor needs oscar
This car is beautiful and better than the e class can't wait for it the test drive video
The front looks like a Aston Martin!
@carwow FYI Audi was actually the first company to introduce augmented reality GPS with turn by turn overlay!
you forgot to mention awesome 7 years warranty and brilliant customer service comes with Hyundai /Genesis
healthy hp numbers according to the engine size .... love it!
Now we need a G80s with 510hp.
Genesis looks good. Top safety rating and high tech.
I say the genesis is overall better that the merc E class but people buy mercedes just to say "hello world I got a Mercedes Benz"
Biggest reason to consider one of these is that it'll be massively more reliable than anything from Germany or Italy. Maybe not as reliable as something from Japan but close and probably a lot cheaper.
Please can you make a video about the genesis GV80
Please and many thanks
I would prefer this over the Mercedes not gonna lie
I think genesis is better the e class..nicer materials surely koreans done thrm home work
0:39 Genesis has also been around in Russia. Moreover, it is produced there, in Kaliningrad.
I'm Korean!!!The new G80 is already released in Korea.
And it is better then you would think that car would be!!! It is really pretty and big and really smart!!!!
Very good looking car. Better then many other luxury cars
genisis is in entire middle east
Not only UAE
Mostly Saudi Arabia UAE Bahrain Kuwait ETC....
Amazing
good
yeah he said that
I Saw It Before what’s going on in the world Crap
I had no idea Europe didn't have the Genesis until now. They're proper nice cars.
Genesis is sick people should buy those cuz they are gonna go up in value soon
No they aren't, best will in the world they will depreciate more slowly but there are very very few mass produced cars that rise in value and there is nothing about this car that makes it unique or original enough that it's going to go up in value.
How can people hate on Genesis. They're like Lexus back on the day; the new kid on the block that has better quality control than almost everybody else. And you get the newest technologies at a lower price than everybody and the car looks really good. I don't understand why people can not like newer Genesis products
한국차도 소개해주시고....감동입니다😢😢
Review the new Genesis GV70 👍
2:00
it doesn't seem fair does it?
MY SHOW MY GAME.
PLAY IT.
haha that cracked me up
I love the genesis
It's a beautiful looking car. Wish it had a lift back trail gate like the Audi A7!
Cape Town is so beautiful. Think its a blast making a film in the city with all the covid-19 restrictions in place.
Did you just compared the looks of this beautiful car to the dull and forever the same looking Audi?
Agree with your assessment here.
Their design identity is just as strong, it's just that Audi has been around for longer but besides both look just as similar on different models
I think Audi's design is very fashionating.I love Audi.
Audi is great
2:23 Matt being naughty during quarantine
This is happening too often. Closet?
good looking car. they are performing well here in Oz.
I have so much newfound respect for genesis now. They’re becoming what infinity was 20 years ago. The cheaper alternative for mercedes or bmw while not sacrificing features. I hope the cool factor on them go up.
i have been waiting for this. finally Korea thought of UK when it thought of the luxury market
Did they just draw what I think they drew at 2:22?
It's funny how these car enthusiasts love to constantly kick Genesis in the nuts by making Hyundai references all throughout the video instead of giving them their full props for designing a dope ass car and respecting it for what it is.
IKR. I don’t get it. It’s like please let the Hyundai name go!
Many of people think "G80 looks like Bentley"
In fact, G80 is designed by designer Luc Donckerwolke
and Lee Sang Yeob.
They was worked together in Bentley.
The G80 is a stunner.
Glad it's coming to Yerp.
The G80 may be the best midsize sedan in the world. Only midsize sedan I’d consider over this is the Audi A6.
I like the beginning when Mat does that voice.
So does Mat!
Me : Tailgating since years , burnout at Red lights.
Car : picking my habits and becoming iRobot .
IN THE BEGINNING: Robotic Mat gives a lesson about luxury cars. 🤖😂🤣
The 2021 G80 sport is gonna be even sicker😍
Exterior remind of a Jajuar XJ from the front amd side especially...looks premium overall.
Can’t wait to pick one of these up in 2035 for less than $5k.
Me too the gv80
A real bisexual petrol-head
Well, Genesis won the 1st at ‘Vehicle Dependability Study 2020’ by J.D power. it’s reliable than tesla (at least)
@A real bisexual petrol-head
Rusted ev cars not passing emissions? My ass.
If you take care of the car, it can last for a good while. If it's just surface rust then it doesn't matter to much either.
If my 15yo bmw have little to no rust, modern cars will be okay. Exhaust systems can be replaced too.
A real bisexual petrol-head they’ll survive like Toyota’s. Hyundai’s last long.
Changing the poll results by a 100 percent with my single vote gives me the ultimate sense of power and Veto. Ha Ha Ha
This over E-class everyday
Because you're delusional.
@@eventusvantos2770 The new E Class has some cheap plastic and its dashboard creeks when you push it. Also Mercedes has become mediocre in terms of reliability. In fact, Hyundai cars are more reliable than anything Germans have right now.
Not over the E63S
I dont care for performance....i like comfort chill ride
looks great
G80 is a real world class, super value for the money you usually pay for small or mid size German brands. It's much better than e-class, from the back seat for sure.
The g80 looks awesome, would definetaly give it a shot.
Totally crazy - wouldn´t I watch youtube videos, I´d never heared of "Genesis". Don´t they make a cool new SUV too?
GV 80 willy be on sale în USA this year. Not sure about Europe..
Gv80 is sold in Korea and America.
Also, Gv70 is coming in 2021.
G70 estate is coming in 2022.
@Apple Actually GV90 is gonna coming soon. It's compare with BMW X7, Mercedes GLS. May be in 2022?
You forgot Russia a big market for Genesis cars, do your homework “ our kid”
Learn english first before you demand anything.
@@lyri0187 His English is understandable what are you on? You can't argue with his point so you just resort to bs
OK mate calm down. He can't do every country
