Understanding the neighbors is important and this is especially true for Israel. I don't envy Israel for the region in which they have to exist. Hope for peace but be prepared for worse.

actually, isreal's invasion into lebanon in 2006 resulted in the creation of hezbollah.
The Christians in Lebanon are stuck between a rock and a hard place - powerful Shia militias backed by Iran and rich/numerous Sunnis backed by Gulf states. Their defeat in the civil war taught them a bitter lesson - no Western power will support/finacne/arm them. They simply don't matter for the stratetgic interest of Western powers (or Israel). Christians simply cannot openly voice support for Israel like they could (and did) in the past - although privately many of them do. They are unarmed and bitterly divided nowadays, and their youth prefer to migrate rather than fight for their corrupt elite. Their leaders also know now that support from Western Democracies can vanish within a 4yr election cycle - they see how America left Aghanistan, Iraq etc.

Problems started when Lebanon started to take in Palestinians in the 60s and 70s when no other Arab countries want them, that’s how the Muslims became a majority there. A serious lesson to learn from this….
