What made Marcelo Bielsa so special? It wasn’t the exhilarating football, though that played its part. It wasn’t the comebacks at Villa or Blackburn, the incredible rise of Phillips or Klich or Dallas or Ayling or Bamford, or even the record-breaking first season back in the big time. Bielsa took us home, and I am eternally grateful to him for that. But from the moment he walked in the door what struck me the most was his incredible compassion and decency. This was a man who stuck by his principles when everyone was telling him it was going wrong, the chants of ‘Leeds are falling apart again’ ringing painfully in our ears in the darker moments of the last few years. And there have been some. The play-off defeat to Derby, humiliation at the hands of our biggest rivals and the last few months, which have been gut-wrenching for any Leeds fan. And yet in all this time not once did Bielsa complain about our lengthy (to say the least) injury list, terrible refereeing decisions (of which there were many), or even pass any blame onto the players. Marcelo Bielsa reunited a broken and divided city and fanbase through his human decency. He made us all want to be better versions of ourselves, and he genuinely changed our lives. It shouldn’t have ended like this, but Marcelo Bielsa will forever be remembered as a Leeds United legend.
Thanks for your words. This is why we love this guy!
Really meaningful words! It shouldn't have ended like this
Couldn't agree more!
Agree wholeheartedly with you on his character... Reignited my interest for Leeds and football in general!
Love the fact that he stood by his principles and did not waver from them... Even though there's no doubt that his stubbornness and unwillingness to adapt was a major factor in his dismissal.
Bielsa did the impossible and got us promoted as champions with a bang average side against all the odds... Club Legend in my eyes and forever grateful for his time spent here
F*** man...I'm holding back tears. If I wasnt having lunch in public I'd be crying. What a beautiful video. I really hope he sees it. Gracias Marcelo, carajo.
Hi! I'm chilean and I understand the pain and uncertainty produced by bielsa's farewell. In Chile we also didn't know what to do, but Marcelo left a legacy that continued until we were two-time champions of America with many of his players. Greetings, and don't worry, the league one will not return.
I love this man
Injuries and lack of investment in the second season cost him his job
Will never forget what this man did for our club
Win lose or draw, Mr Bielsa's teams both those off field and on, have brought back so much pride to Leeds supporters both near and far. Never publicaly criticising referee decisions on the field, never complaining or blaming injury problems for results. Giving fair balanced opinions about games, praising opponents, when appropriate. Improving every player in the squad beyond thier own expectations, giving young players a chance. Not breaking the bank. Exhilarating and nail-biting to watch in equal measure, never boring. Honest football, so so refreshing to behold. Together with Mr Radrizzani and directors, values and standards restored from the top to the bottom of Leeds United.
Thank you so very very much Mr Bielsa and colleagues. A beautiful era of Leeds Utd's history that shall never be forgotten, certainly not by me.
What a man I will never forget you and neither will my daughter's you've changed my life
You changed our club
for the better in every way.
Thank you, Marcelo
We love you. 💛💙
Is it bad i cried at this
No matter what I will always love Marcelo
Thankyou Marcela Bielsa watching your Leeds Utd team play through the championship & the premiership was a joy to watch ,more than any other team ,you brought excitement & played the game how it should be played with entertainment & passion also never complained when things went against you ,no ref excuses no var excuses,A true gent viva Argentina treasure this man xx
As good as this is, it doesnt come close to representing what he means to us. Gracias Marcelo.
Of corse it’s sad how he left, but his legacy would never be damaged any way he left the club. He managed to do what no other manager could. He transformed a group into a team. He reunited players, fans, the board, staff absolutely everything. He was so much more than just a coach, he was a leader, a gentlemen, a genuine honest and fair man. He’s the last of a dying breed in today’s modern world and we’re lucky to have gripped a part in his life which will live with him and us all forever. Words can’t explain the emotions we have experienced together, the ups and the downs and staying with us for so long, even though deep down he knew it hadn’t been working for a while. He couldn’t bring himself to leave and went out on his sword. Don’t cry that it’s over, smile that it happened, until we meet again, thank you Marcelo.
i understand what all the leeds fans are goin through right now... I am From Chile but born in Sweden. when Don Marcelo Bielsa came to chile and took over the National Team..he COMPLETLY CHANGED EVERYTHING. espacially the mentality and quickly he got the respect and love of all the Chilean people . hes legacy and history and chile was also beautiful.. he didnt only change the football mentality in chile..he changed the peoples mentality.. he reached everyones heart with his own heart of gold.
take a little look about bielsas time in Chile... He left the team beacouse of honor and loyalty to the former National federacion president Henry Nichols...and bielsa cried and got emontional in his last press conference speech... the whole country got behind bielsa..but in modern footbal politics wins sadly enough
Love your comment. I'm from here, from Rosario, I'm not a football lover but I do love this man, and for him I followed Leeds and his campaigns! Magnificent club! passional!. I hope they continue in the premiere! Hug from Argentina!
He has something very important, an aspect that his compatriot Ricardo Gareca also shares. They are guys who understand the importance of legacy. Argentina, his country, went decades without winning a cup. But we Argentines always feel that we deserve the World Cup. Not only because of our level, but because of our history, our legacy... even if things go wrong, we never change our minds. And every success story, every good success story, starts with people with convictions like Bielsa
Finally, I have cried.
He changed the club, the game, and every single human around the club and with the same team as the year before. Thanks for super football for my team.
He's handed this club over in such a good state to the next guy, in my lifetime I've not seen a new manager inherit the club in as good a position. Marcelo gave this guy a great platform to build off of, if he's half as good as the last guy we should be alright
Thanx Marcello for the memories& the pride you gave to us LEEDS fans again,As an🇦🇺 we thinking about him(Bielsa) for international
duty ,don't know if it's right but would ❤️him here(what are your thoughts on it)

And thank you for everything Marcelo. Carajo.

Teared up when I saw this. Thank you for the wonderful video. His legacy can't be explained in words.
Thank you Marcelo

Bawling 😭
Another youtube blabathon I thought... totally choked up now! excellent editing skills, young man.
Beautiful video 👏❤️
I M O...undoubtedly, a brilliant manager..His controlled quiet way will be missed, and Leeds will forever be in his debt. They need to stay up....
Absolute LEGEND he put LEEDS back where they belong Top flight football thank you from my bottom of my heart M.O.T
most beautiful tribute i've seen thus far. thank you marcelo bielsa and thank you for making this!
Legend 💁✌️
El loco más cuerdo ! 👏
I believe that Radrizzani can't see much of his success managing Leeds comes from having signed Marcelo. Probably he's not aware of the big mistake he's done, Marcelo took average Championship players, even some players that should've been playing in League one and turned into Premier League players!!! Is there any other coach in the world able to do that? No wonder people as Guardiola have Marcelo in such a high regard.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but if Radrizzani keeps on taking "business" decisions, there will be dark times again in Leeds.
Marcelo would have saved the season with a little more time and less injured players.
Just read your "prophecy"... And I fully agree in all your statements: (1) [Radrizzani's] success managing Leeds comes from having signed Marcelo. (2) Marcelo took average Championship players, even some players that should've been playing in League one and turned into Premier League players. (3) Marcelo would have saved the season with a little more time and less injured players.
Now we see clearly the value of those players, independently of the fact they are playing for LUFC or other teams. And their value is a little bit more than before they were coached by Marcelo, at least they learned something. But they are not champions. They were a good team and they were complementary each other thanks to Bielsa's teaching. And, telling you my truth, I miss so much the pride I had seeing Leeds outclass the opponents on the base of playing football. Strategically, tactically, on motivation, on will, on everything. Winning deserving to win, losing deserving to win or to draw, always. Only Man City on the first year of PL outclassed us, but we won. Watch Marcelo's interview after that match. He's so smart...
@@carlosanguineti956 I miss those times aswell! Those players were just different with Marcelo, it is a pity that the Ego of Radrizziani didn't let him see that 😞
@@shareabike-shareasmile To be sincere, if we had to go back on EFL Championship, I would have preferred to go down one year earlier, but to keep Marcelo with us. We wouldn't be in this rank now.
@@carlosanguineti956 Same feeling here & I guess many fans though the same! Maybe everyone apart from Radrizziani :(
We are All in bits again Lewis thanks again Lewis for the Video Top man🤍💛💙✊👊🇮🇨👏😍
They betrayed him. He’s a victim of his success. Should go back to championship hence before he came
revie was a legend, , bielsa was a one trick pony who got found out at an higher level , if you keep getting battered every week you get the sack does not matter what your name is or where you come from , the reality is leeds are now in a relegation battle thanks to bielsa and the board , thinking they can go through a full season with a squad far too small , and too many players that are simply not good enough at this level .
Thank you marcelo
An idealist, icon and incredible person. An ode to the beautiful game . Will never forget the impact Marcelo Bielsa had on our club and English football. Sad it had to end this way, i wish he was supported more. Carajo
I think it's sad he has gone.im a 55 year old West ham fan who grew up in the era of dirty Leeds and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. People of my generation had a perception of Leeds. Marcelo bielsa changed that and made Leeds the team we all wanted to watch. But for me that aside I loved his humility as a man. We are working class people in general who love football and even though he would not speak English we could all see a very decent human being. I as a West ham fan also say thank you to Mr bielsa.
Thanks for the kid words mate respect .
Thanks Andrew it takes a cockney Sparra to sing the praises of another ,keep blowing those bubbles, lets hope we're around next season to thank you in person

When Marcelo came to Leeds did any of us understand or realise how he would touch our lives. The most exciting football in the 50 years I've been supporting Leeds. However, much more than that, his warmth, compassion and decency shone like the brightest star in the sky. Gracias Marcelo, nunca te olvidaremos.
No estoy llorando, se me metió un "vamos leeds carajo" en el ojo.
Fuck sake lad I said I wouldn't cry again... Jesus Christ
One and a half seasons with you in the prem just wasn't enough, I wish it could've gone on forever with you at the helm. It wasn't just the football, it was the iconic way you held yourself, the composure, stoicism and absolute passion that you brought to each and every day and football in general. Humble, kind and caring to the end. May you never change
You gave me something to look forward to, beyond the thoughts of suicide during the lockdowns alone and something ai still struggle with.
People laugh at me about talking about it, I've been locked jibed and taunted, but atleast we all here will understand, and have lived through some absolute magic and history
Thank you Marcelo 🤷♂️ Dunno what to do now mate, but thanks for letting me draw breath with optimism again.
We all bleed Leeds. I don't want the next chapter but we have to move forward. ALAW, MOT
"Marcelo Bielsa becomes a myth wherever he goes" dixit ex player Enzo Francescoli
Here we are, Thank you Marcelo from Morocco. MOT 💙💛
His time may be over, but his legacy will never be over. Gracias Marcelo.
What a class video Lewis... What a legend Marcelo Bielsa IS.... ALAW.
What a beatiful homage.
I just wish Marcelo could only understand the love that so many people have for him, from Chile, Bilbao and Leeds.
He reignites pasion for football like no other.
Forever grateful, Gracias Marcelo!
Amazing.
If I'd seen this 5 days ago, I'd be on the floor right now. As it is, I'm still crying but I'm left with a feeling of utter pride that I was even remotely connected to him, in this small way. I met him a couple of times in Wetherby, and I still carry the ST he signed for me in my wallet even now. He was every inch the wonderful man that he appears, and despite not knowing him, we can all say that with certainty. I'll be forever grateful for all he did. I hope he knows the impact he had on us all.
First sentence is perfect, that first night it was announced I just felt every emotion, don’t think I’ve cried that much ever to be honest
The most confusing, genius and inspirational manager this decade. MOT 💛💙
Thank you Marcelo.
Still too raw to put my thoughts into words.
A rambunctious 52 year old tough minded builder who has followed Leeds his entire life; and I'm utterly heartbroken. It was a beautiful, honourable, honest, virtuous, ephemeral dream that slipped away no matter how much we wanted to hold it.
Sadness isn't the word.
Grief is closer.
Great video!
I admit that I've been angry with Leeds United for a few days... Marcelo deserved to fight until the end of the season! He had earned it!
But this kind of video makes me see that I can't be angry with Leeds's fans, because you are a great fan and you deserve the best!
Respect, health and luck friends! From the Basque country

Lewis ya bastard. You have me in tears. In life, mentors we luckily work with are rare courageous people. Its up to us all to employ, in ourselves, these teachings.
Anybody watching this is allowed to cry.😪😪😪
Thanks Lewis you bastard. Bottled it up for a week but the Thank You Marcelo's at the end just killed me.
What a wonderful Man we can't thank you enough for what you have done for Leeds United in the wilderness for 16 long years and nearly went out of business. Then in 2018 a man to be honest hadn't heard of at all. You got the whole of Leeds United football club as one 👏🇮🇨. From top to bottom you treated people on an Equal footing. Thank you so much you have touched everyone's Soul you will never ever be forgotten at Leeds United football club and all Leeds United supporter's 👏🇮🇨 will always love you Mr Bielsa you will Go down in Leeds Uniteds folklore for ever .A humble man a great, great man. Your words move me. For us Argentines, newells old boy's fans, who have a stadium that bears his name, for whom he gave us the greatest joy and much of his work, no matter how unpleasant the comments of some may be, we are not going to change our minds . People like him who rescue the true values of humanity inspire us and still unites two deeply divided societies🇦🇷🇬🇧. Here's to many more Bielsas. Let's toast!

@@paulbrennan3996 I am truly moved by your words and I feel them from the heart as mine do. It is exciting to feel how sport can unite people when pure and good feelings are mobilized, and that is what Bielsa achieves, uniting people who have the same love, the same passion, and make them walk together behind that common goal , and above all to rescue the spirit of play that we all carry inside, to return to being children again. He made me love football again. It was magic and I’m so glad I was part of that, part of that history. I saw that, I went to those games, I felt the magic of Marcelo Bielsa. I’ll never forget it or him x
I think Leeds will regret letting this great Man Go God bless you Marcelo bielsa ❤️ xxxx 💗
Great video. Bielsa is solely responsible for reigniting my passion for the game. Bringing the childlike magic I'd long forgotten back. We owe him so much. I'm now taking comfort in the fact that he was so dedicated, his legacy will carry on as he has rebuilt the foundations of the whole club. Hopefully we can build on. I truly hope he gets a statue or something in the near future.

Great video Lewis keep u the great work you have done and for the future.
Just love it how these fans love respect an appreciate him an everything he's done for leeds United.
I'm Argentinian. And believe me: it hurts us to all. We are united with Leeds forever. Because football is that: risk. Go forward. Not giving up. But for that, you need to have resources and a whole team convinced with you: and the current players no longer believed in Marcelo and turned their back on him. They should have resisted. Having fought for someone who never betrayed them. There are players in Leeds who come from the Championship and with Bielsa, they continued to play: that is loyalty. Bielsa was beaten by teams with millions of euros ahead. And with Bielsa they could save the season. God luck Leeds
Que de jodan por echarlo. Chau leeds perdiste el ultimo tren

Any club would have been proud / lucky to have him as a manager.I like many others was over the moon with his appointment.I went to his first game at Forest Green and caught up with great mates including Trevor H. (r.i.p).
Some of the best football we've ever played under Bielsa.
