Not a problem! You carry it for a few minutes then rest a few minutes. Carry it a few then rest a few! Before ya know it, you are to the truck with a great artifact!! I have done it a few times!
I am so glad I found your channel. I never knew Oklahoma was so rich in this history. Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best from Southern California…happy hunting 👍
I can't believe you'd have to think about whether or not to carry that out, two miles or not! So cool! Watching all of these videos I did expect to find arrowheads every time out, but I have been skunked since June. The bugs have finally died down here in Indiana, and I've been on three 4-hour walks the last couple of weeks and have found ZERO. That's how it goes, I guess. I really enjoy your videos. I used to live in Tulsa. Good luck on your next hunts. Bryan
👉 Now you know why the ancient Indians left it right there instead of carrying it with them. Probably because their trucks were even further than 2 miles away!
Dude, I don't know where you're at but you scored some hella nice artifacts. 3 bison heads, points, grinder, blades and a piece of a mammoth tooth. Geez!!!! You killed it in this video. Hell of of a couple days. Congrats! I just found your channel and I'm hooked.
Salut, You have some awesome territory for walking, thise waters produce absolutely incredible finds! It is good of you to save these artifacts befor they are lost forever.... I sure hope you brought the metate out of those wilds with you, talk about a thing of beauty! You are so fortunate to see such quality artifacts, fossils, and animal remains! Nice film! Cheers and Blessings!
What a find yes I would have to leave the bison skulls and pack out the metate without a doubt. Those are super rare in that condition boy what a couple last hunts you have had that’s awesome congratulations and keep up the great work.👍🏼
Those skulls are awesome! Very Nice Finds!👍 Seems those holes in that stone were maybe where it sat on some sort of wooden stand. I’d never leave that, even if I had to drag it a mile!👍
Absolutely love that Metate and hope you managed to carry it out. Looks like it would have fit decently in a backpack. Those Bison skulls are such great finds as well. Not to mention all the flint! Good stuff as always.
Neither rain nor sleet nor politicians could keep me from carrying that stellar example of kitchen equipment home to sit in an exalted spot in my collection. That’s so nice they probably ordered that from William-Sonoma or somewhere, the things we take for granted in the grocery store took a lot more elbow grease back then, a 5 lb bag of corn meal, how long to grind on that beauty? We’re just now getting crops cut and some discing, be a while before I can start walking ten miles a day hoping to find something as great, enjoy following your walks.
That blade looked Paleo! Not sure if it is or not. Is the Basel area ground? And wow. Just wow. The grinding thing is definitely a keeper. Remember, you can pick a spot where you can hide it and come back later with a pack or kayak 😉. A monster old tree is an easy spot to remember. Especially with them skulls!! Id get every one of those!!! Especially that grinding thing!! Keep on rockin buddy
Fantastic finds!! For getting skunked a couple times, you’ve made up for it. Nice points, blades, metate and bison skull. I just stumbled onto your channel. Liked and subscribed. Take care. 😊👏👏🇨🇦
The pain of carrying the bison skulls or metate back to the truck is temporary. Saving history from destruction is worth it. I keep a sturdy packable nylon backpack strapped to my day hiking rig....not sure it would fit a scull, but that metate would and 2 miles isn't that far. Great video. You guys in the middle of the country and the Plains are so, so lucky to be in an artifact rich environment. Here in the Northern Great Basin, we have to hike long and look hard for our rewards. Thanks for sharing, love seeing your saves.
Love those bison skulls, I would love to come across one in my adventures. I know what you mean about dry spells, July and most of August I did not find one complete… Then August 28 I found probably my best point ever. Thank you for sharing your hunts. Oh congratulations on the artifacts as well….
The metate is sick. I have theory about the pits on the back side of them. I believe that they drove stakes in the ground and the holes went over top of the stakes. The very thick ones usually don't have holes pecked into them. The thinner ones do have them. Just my thoughts on them. Best of luck 👍☮️
I am not sure I agree with your theory. That metate weighed 30 pounds and is likely to not move its position when in use. It certainly wouldn't need to be balanced on sticks. I am thinking the holes are a permanent means of identifying it as a personal possession.
That's one of the best finds on video ever in my opinion. That matate is freaking awesome. Wow, my jaw was open when you showed one side, when you flipped it my jaw dropped. I think we that's one cool artifact. I still can't believe it. Unless that's common for you?
@@LostinTimeYT Just think how many times that was used. The work it took to make it. If that artifact could talk, the events it would unfold would be unbelievable. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's very exceptional. That tool was probably used everyday by the tribe. It has survived a long time. Congratulations!!
Are you kidding me! What a hunt. The bone awl is amazing, I agree with others the metate is amazing. Call me and I will drive from Kentucky and carry it out. 😂 Congratulations
But there is a whole lot of material in the run of that old river and a bisons scull . This is got to be one of the best hunts I've ever seen no cashes just walking down the channel looking.
There is no way under the Sun that I would have left that Metate out there. That is one find that you just dont come across. I sure hope you carried that thing out.
The little holes and polished surfaces on the back side were for fine grinding of small quantities such as pigments or medicinal herbs. I hope you were able to retrieve it. That matate is amazing!
I thought that Metate was a pendent at first glance in your thumbnail lol. A super fine Metate at that that was probably paired with a Roller Pedestal. That river is spitting out those Bison sculls, that large one looks like the older species. Some of those blades look very old also and that Dalton looks kool even with the broken base. Good luck hunting👍🏻
I would have stashed everything I couldn't carry out, so it was very well hidden, then come back with a kayak, ATV, truck, wheelbarrow, whatever I could get to that area and haul the rest out. Even if I just had to walk and make multiple trips. Awesome finds, Sir!
On the segment of mammoth tooth, you can see the hydroxyapatite crystal structure on a macroscopic level. Usually that can only be seen with a microscope.
Did you take the Metate out? ~ Any chance you can take pool tubes & make them into a float to take heavy finds out??? The shaped tools were Really nice..
Wow that wíyukpaŋ (metate) is so awesome! It's amazing something so ancient is still in use around the world even today. Great video, philámayaye (thank you).
I once found a very weathered moose skull in the Idaho mountains. Started carrying it out then laid it down because of the weight. My friend said you will always wish you had carried it out. I did and had it at our Idaho home then took it to Missouri, dogs finally took it from my garden!
Here's another unprovoked tip. Get a large bicycle-tired ,two-wheeled cart / dolly with baskets or bags to drag along the creek banks for just these occasions.
The matate for grinding corn looks like it may have a wood grain and petrified, the holes may have been for legs, I love this old stuff, wonder how long it takes for something to petrify, obviously from the indigenous people from where ever you are now.
Petrification takes millions of years for some things, but I think something might turn in the right conditions in hundreds of thousands of years. That looked like sandstone to me. It can look like wooden layers.
Not a problem! You carry it for a few minutes then rest a few minutes. Carry it a few then rest a few! Before ya know it, you are to the truck with a great artifact!! I have done it a few times!
Completely awesome! Always love the artifacts your finding, great job and thank you for sharing
You find very beautiful artifacts!! Love the skulls and metate! It is very amazing. Take care.
I’m in Ft Worth, Texas. I will drive to wherever you are and walk thru deep sand to pick that grinding plate up.
I was going to comment the same thing, however you beat me to it…👍
I am so glad I found your channel. I never knew Oklahoma was so rich in this history. Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best from Southern California…happy hunting 👍

👉 Now you know why the ancient Indians left it right there instead of carrying it with them. Probably because their trucks were even further than 2 miles away!
@@HighlanderNorth1 It got left there because their bison died and the bison would carry the heavy stuff back to the truck.
This is definitely a place I would return to. What a great day you had. You are very fortunate to have such a place to explore. Nice job!!!
Been hunting for 55 years and have never found a metate...I feel confident you carried it out..congrats
Excellent artifacts!!👍🔥
First? Love your channel; my daughter is an avid rock/fossil/artifact hound and is always on the lookout for arrowheads after watching you.
Salut,

That metate is just incredible ... museum quality(?) I'd love to see it cleaned up! Take care.
Man oh man!!! What a paradise!! So many incredible relics and such variety!!! Wish my tough times hunting were this bad!! 😜👍🏻👊🏻
What a find yes I would have to leave the bison skulls and pack out the metate without a doubt. Those are super rare in that condition boy what a couple last hunts you have had that’s awesome congratulations and keep up the great work.👍🏼
Awesome finds I would love to walk around and help you carry stuff back
.... and learn how to spot & recognise stuff ,... 😎👍☘️🍺
Those skulls are awesome! Very Nice Finds!👍 Seems those holes in that stone were maybe where it sat on some sort of wooden stand. I’d never leave that, even if I had to drag it a mile!👍
Awesome stuff!! I would absolutely love a hunt spot like that! Beautiful metate!

Awesome finds. Its worth the walk(s) to bring it all back.
Thar was a great adventure watching you and those thousands of years of bone .
That metate is hug!! Killer finds! Hope you were able to bring the metate home.
You need to start bringing a good pack with you. A game pack you can strap things to the frame.
Just watched it again 😁 awesome 😎
Killer finds!!! That metate.......😲😲 Keep em coming 👍🏹
Very nice finds 👍
You find alot of paleo artifacts made of chert and flint I hunt on the susquehanna river alot of nice corner notch
And scrapers...........
I think the holes on the metate were for legs on a makeshift table of sorts?
That blade looked Paleo! Not sure if it is or not. Is the Basel area ground? And wow. Just wow. The grinding thing is definitely a keeper. Remember, you can pick a spot where you can hide it and come back later with a pack or kayak 😉. A monster old tree is an easy spot to remember.

Daaaaammmmmnnnn. Definitely worth slinging a backpack on ur adventures. 🤯 great video. 🙌
That is one of the nicest metates I’ve ever seen anyone find on YT. I hope you managed to get it out or at least stashed it to get later. Good luck!!

Or just two different functions (multitool).
They used them for different purposes.
I am not sure I agree with your theory. That metate weighed 30 pounds and is likely to not move its position when in use. It certainly wouldn't need to be balanced on sticks. I am thinking the holes are a permanent means of identifying it as a personal possession.
Good lord. What area of the world are you hunting? That water looks amazing and dang those bison skulls! Killer matate! Wow
That's one of the best finds on video ever in my opinion. That matate is freaking awesome. Wow, my jaw was open when you showed one side, when you flipped it my jaw dropped. I think we that's one cool artifact. I still can't believe it. Unless that's common for you?
Until I found this one, I had never seen one personally other than a broken one my friend found many years ago.
@@LostinTimeYT Just think how many times that was used. The work it took to make it. If that artifact could talk, the events it would unfold would be unbelievable. When you are talented it sometimes appear easy. Nice work with the persistence.
Are you kidding me! What a hunt. The bone awl is amazing, I agree with others the metate is amazing. Call me and I will drive from Kentucky and carry it out. 😂 Congratulations
Wow, That metate is incredible. What a find. Well done buddy
Take that matata back to the truck sir! What a beautiful lucky find! Amazing!!
But there is a whole lot of material in the run of that old river and a bisons scull . This is got to be one of the best hunts I've ever seen no cashes just walking down the channel looking.
New subscriber here. Fantastic finds. Can you tell me what state you are in? Incredible videos. Thank you.
Killer metate, man! But you're on a roll with the bison skulls - I've only found one skull cap in 45 years of hunting. Nice to see you out again.
Very cool finds i wld love to find a stone like that or a skull very cool stuff.
There is no way under the Sun that I would have left that Metate out there. That is one find that you just dont come across. I sure hope you carried that thing out.
Awesome metate! Wonder if it weren’t posted to raise it a bit?
No question of whether or not to carry that out...I'd viking the bison head cap and carry the plate like a skateboard
How many skulls and skull caps do you have total lol. Thats awesome never found one yet. Keep it up on the artifacts also
Guessing that metate is now proudly displayed, dude, awesome overall finds, be careful, lots of hernia makers recently found 😎😎😎
it would go home with me, no doubt!
super find!
Wow, really cool finds. I'm curious, I know the arrow heads and other tools are old but are the bison skulls from the same era or are they recent?
I always have to wonder what could have happened that would cause someone to leave an intact grinding stone behind like that.
I am from middle Georgia, found one in a wash canyon...I often wonder the exact same thing
The little holes and polished surfaces on the back side were for fine grinding of small quantities such as pigments or medicinal herbs. I hope you were able to retrieve it. That matate is amazing!
I'd carry that metate 15 miles !!!!!!!!!
I thought that Metate was a pendent at first glance in your thumbnail lol. A super fine Metate at that that was probably paired with a Roller Pedestal. Nice prepared cores. Flake supplies. What you called a broke Dalton is fluted. Good find.
It is a Dalton for sure, and they can sometimes be fluted.
Very nice metate. You can do it!
Looks like you need to invest in a small foldable cart or luggage rack. I'd rather tote that around then have to leave some thing behind.great finds
I would have stashed everything I couldn't carry out, so it was very well hidden, then come back with a kayak, ATV, truck, wheelbarrow, whatever I could get to that area and haul the rest out. Even if I just had to walk and make multiple trips. Awesome finds, Sir!
good artifacts the metate is amazing last week i found one its my second in 25 years hunting artifacts
Wouldn't leave it!!!! What a find!!!
On the segment of mammoth tooth, you can see the hydroxyapatite crystal structure on a macroscopic level. Usually that can only be seen with a microscope.
Maybe investing in a small wheelbarrow might be useful for these situations. Depending on terrain, this might make it very easy.
Those are some amazing finds wow !
Did you take the Metate out? ~ Any chance you can take pool tubes & make them into a float to take heavy finds out??? The shaped tools were Really nice..
That's a REALLY NICE grind stone!
You a lucky guy man every piece you found is amazing-never leave a beautiful piece like that behind
Wow that wíyukpaŋ (metate) is so awesome! It's amazing something so ancient is still in use around the world even today. Great video, philámayaye (thank you).
Love your channel - just found it and this was so fascinating!
Those holes are intriguing. I wonder if they are related to the use of the metate aspect or if the rock was additionally used for something else.
It seems to me they would be perfect for wooden legs. Wood rarely survives.
I once found a very weathered moose skull in the Idaho mountains. Started carrying it out then laid it down because of the weight. My friend said you will always wish you had carried it out. I did and had it at our Idaho home then took it to Missouri, dogs finally took it from my garden!
What state are you in if you don't mind me asking? I have never seen a Bison skull in the water before and I am curious where this is manifesting?
They wash out of the banks.
No way I would leave that Metate
@ 2:28 at 6 o'clock ... dark brown / blackish arrowhead. Not sure who all spotted it besides me.. but it's easy to see..
I dont know how you would find anything judging by the first part! nothing but rocks... they all look the same!!
No question about totin' that metate back to the truck.
You have to take it!! Otherwise, where is it? I'll come grab it!
For goodness sake carry it out or go get a kayak😊👍👍👍
Right!!! Irreplaceable… great comment and great content.
Here's another unprovoked tip. Get a large bicycle-tired ,two-wheeled cart / dolly with baskets or bags to drag along the creek banks for just these occasions.
Wow such good finds so cool😺
Great finds !
Cool hobby.
There noway I leave it they are very rare in arkansas. The only place you see them now is in a museum
Dang.... Again!
Great find why on Earth would you second-guess of not packing that out.... Why didn't you keep that Mammoth tooth
How do you even know where to look to find these things?
Nice finds
Pain is temporary...quitting is forever. Go for it.
And you're ignoring what looks like agates or chalcedony I'd be thrilled to find - lucky you. Such abundance!
Lost in time I just started watching your videos. Nice finds! What state are you hunting in?
nice skulls, did not realize it is ok to pick up and take. Not that we see any wild buffalo where i live, keep it, beautiful grinder.
Cool stuff!
Absolute killer finds! What state do you live in? Im up in n idaho.
Dang you&I both need that all electric off road wagon.. It's called
E beach wagon, I thought there was a company called rhino making them to...!!!iii
The matate for grinding corn looks like it may have a wood grain and petrified, the holes may have been for legs, I love this old stuff, wonder how long it takes for something to petrify, obviously from the indigenous people from where ever you are now.

You gotta get one of those 2 wheeled carts you can walk with it behind you.
I was thinking either a miniature helicopter or a hovercraft but a cart might be more practical.
Great Mano!!! Did you go back and look for the meta te ? And find it? So curious!!!
Actually, I never did go back to this spot. So many places, so little time.
Did you get the matate home?
