Finally someone that does highway mpg tests at constant speeds, would be really curious if you could cover older models from the 2000 - 2010 aswell, like E46s / E39s / W204 / etc

that consumption is very good. I have 2.0 TSI engine and AWD and i have to be very careful to get 9l/100km.. mostly its 10-11l/100km.

That’s pretty bad considering I can manage that with a BMW 4.4L V8, with a very conservative driving style. You’re either a city driver, having lots of useless weight or you have a heavy foot on the accelerator paddle.

My alfa 75 with 4 carbs 40mm consumes 18 liter per 100km 😂
It must be downhill :). Strange enough, on paper, 530i LCI/mild hybrid has higher fuel consumption!
Not strange - 530e weight is 300kg more. And when battery is finished the hell begins. 13l per 100km and no acceleration

Probably stronger requirements. Wldp instead of NEDC.

My 540ix G31 LCI is doing roughly the same numbers on the motorway. Cold start and city driving more, of course.. Efficiency does not depend so much on the number of cylinders.
your car will burn more @ 160 kmh and above and in the city/anywhere when you press the gas pedal hard
You are right. Bigger engine, more efficient. 530d is more efficient then 520d. V8 will spend more in final but less fuel consumption per cylinders.
i was about to say the same thing. It seems like the difference between 530i and 540i is not that big (obviously depending on the driving)...
Hmm, as per the official data, the 540i still consumes more, around 0.5 l/100 km on the highway, which is still a minor difference, given the additional performance. How much more do you get in the city, like 3-4 l/100 km more? That's why I always say, the more you drive on the highways, the more sense it makes to buy an inline 6, even though 530i already has a performance that cannot be really used in real life, unless it's an autobahn. I do have 530ix right now and it is phenomenal, though of course I would love to have that B58 one day.

Hello I have 2021 530i 5 person 130 kh I make 900 km fuel cons 5.8 l
I think reasonable fuel consumption is for 150 around 7.7 its very nice. 200kmh is 13l. Its 3 l too much :)
Petrol versions become almost as economical as diesels
Even my 1997 523i E39 can reach about 6 Liters per 100 km at 100 kmh

If driven correct they are. Most people also just drive their diesel while they are cold. They do not know that a diesel engine does not perform before it is warm, before that it performs way weaker and uses way more fuel than a petrol car. It need to drive appox 30 minutes before the diesel performes better than an equal petrol engine!
is it xdrive equipped?
It is written that it is RWD - rear wheel drive only, so without xDrive.

Are you 100% sure that this is a 530i and not a 520d? I am not trying to be disrespectful but when I drive my 530i I can’t get it down lower that 7l on the autobahn. Did you did something for the engine mapping? I have other colleagues that drive this car to, some of them only in eco mode an can’t reach more than 6,8~7 on the highway to (120km/h).
this car seems to be high on consumption , as expected because it's a petrol. The 520d would take no more than 4l/100 on highway
Yes definitely a petrol 530, it revs way to high for a diesel.

Do also Peugeot 508 SW GT HDI for comparison.
The Peugeot is way smaller, weaker and slower, wouldn’t be a fair comparison. A German magazine said that it’s circa at 4.2 Liters (80kp/h)
H. Heine My 508 SW GT HDI did 7l/100 in mix. And it is almost 1800kg!
The 508 is still way smaller (from the sizes) weaker and slower, so it would be hard to compare, maybe comparable to a vw Passat. But it’s a nice car.
